With a serene smile, Unohana Retsu turned and walked out of the classroom.
Aaron watched her retreating figure for a moment before following her at a measured pace.
Ten minutes later, the two arrived, one after the other, at a training ground in the Shin'ō Academy.
By now, a sizable crowd had gathered. Students from various classes, along with a few teachers who had caught wind of the impending duel, formed a ring around the training grounds.
The training ground's administrator, observing the scene, stepped forward and handed each of them a specially crafted wooden sword.
In accordance with the academy's strict guidelines, the administrator not only distributed the weapons but also stayed to monitor the duel, prepared to intervene if the situation escalated. This ensured the safety of both combatants.
As Aaron took the wooden sword, his eyes glinted with curiosity. He wondered what new strategies Unohana Retsu—known for her unpredictable fighting style—might employ this time.
A sudden surge of overwhelming Reiatsu erupted from Unohana, sweeping across the training ground like a storm.
The weaker students in the crowd shuddered under its weight. Some even stumbled back involuntarily, their faces pale.
The more experienced onlookers—students and teachers alike—quickly released their own Reiatsu as a defensive measure, stabilizing themselves against the oppressive force.
"Look! That guy from the ordinary class hasn't flinched at all!"
"Hah, he's just pretending. No way he can handle this!"
"Why hasn't he been promoted to the advanced class if he's so strong?"
"Advanced class? He's just the 'crane tail' of the ordinary class!"
"Say that again, and I'll rearrange your face!"
"Quiet down!" one of the teachers barked, glaring at the bickering students. The group fell silent, though subtle factions had already formed among the onlookers, their Reiatsu bristling in mutual defiance.
Meanwhile, on the training ground, the duel had already begun.
"Strike!"
With a sharp cry, Unohana charged, her wooden sword slicing through the air with terrifying precision.
Aaron, unfazed, channeled his Reiatsu to his feet, employing Shunpo to close the distance. The clash began in earnest.
Boom, boom, boom!
The sound of wooden swords colliding reverberated through the training grounds.
In mere moments, the two combatants exchanged dozens of blows. Their movements were a blur, their swords flashing like lightning.
The spectators, initially dismissive of Aaron, began to reevaluate.
"Is he… using Shunpo?!"
"An ordinary-class student mastering Shunpo? That's unheard of!"
"Did he hide his strength during the entrance exam?"
"How is this possible?!"
As murmurs of disbelief rippled through the crowd, the duel on the field raged on.
Aaron soon noticed something peculiar—Unohana's Reiatsu was steadily increasing.
It was no wonder she would one day earn the title of the first Kenpachi. Her sheer spiritual power was overwhelming. Yet, Aaron couldn't help but feel that her fighting skills, while formidable, lacked refinement.
"She has immense potential," he mused internally, "but without proper techniques, she's not fully utilizing her abilities. Still, her raw talent will undoubtedly justify the name 'Yachiru.'"
Aaron, maintaining his composure, continued to observe and counter Unohana's strikes. He treated the duel as an opportunity to test his own techniques, adapting and learning as the battle unfolded.
Unlike their previous encounters, Unohana seemed to have abandoned flashy maneuvers, relying instead on her overwhelming Reiatsu to dominate.
If raw spiritual power were the sole deciding factor, Aaron knew he wouldn't stand a chance. But in terms of Reiatsu manipulation, Reishi control, and mastery of Kidō, he held the upper hand.
After a particularly fierce exchange, Aaron deftly disengaged, retreating a few steps to assess the situation.
The crowd was in awe.
"One of them is a prodigy with lieutenant-level Reiatsu, and the other is a so-called 'ordinary' student. How are they evenly matched?"
"No one would believe this if they weren't here to see it!"
"Six Pillars Binding Formation: Condense!"
With a soft incantation, Aaron activated a Kidō of his own design. A glowing, cube-shaped barrier materialized around Unohana, trapping her within.
As the weight of the spiritual barrier pressed down on her, Unohana responded by channeling her Reiatsu into her wooden sword and striking the cage with relentless force.
"Lightning!"
"Fire!"
"Ice!"
"Sand!"
"Wind!"
"Combine!"
Aaron unleashed five beams of elemental energy, their colors weaving into a dazzling spiral before converging into a single, devastating attack aimed at Unohana.
Gasps erupted from the crowd.
"What kind of Kidō is that?!"
"No way! Even our Kidō instructors can't do this!"
"He's toying with us! He must be a seated officer in disguise!"
Unohana, despite her frustration, refused to back down. She raised her Reiatsu to its peak, preparing to take the attack head-on while countering with a decisive strike.
But Aaron, utilizing his mastery of "The Breath of All Things," moved with unparalleled speed. In a flash, he was at Unohana's side, his wooden sword poised for a finishing blow.
Just as their duel reached its climax, an unexpected turn of events unfolded...
