Blue lock: the true egoist

Chapter 83: A Domino Effect

[Jude's POV]

The game resumed.

I was the one with the ball, I could've easily bulldozed through them and attempted to score by myself.

But more than anything, I was curious.

I could see from Karasu's movements that his previous hesitation was gone. He successfully reached a new level and evolved at such an insane rate that it was hard for me to believe.

Same could be said about everyone who made it through the first selection, but so far the one who picked my interest the most had yet to show me how much he improved.

He's the first player I considered a rival.

"You better show me something worth it." I yelled out as I sent a sharp pass past Karasu who was now guarding me way too closely.

"You can leave it to me. This type of situation is perfect for me." Yukimiya replied in a confident tone.

I didn't doubt it.

Team Z played around him, but it was far from enough.

Their passes were sloppy, and their timing even worse. It was obvious that they weren't used to playing as anything other than strikers, and that a supporting role wasn't satisfying enough for them.

They only passed him the ball because they were forced to, in such a situation it was hard for him to show his true potential.

But now the conditions are optimal for him to finally bloom and show his full potential.

All I had to do was sit back and watch how much he improved.

After all, at the end of the second selection he's the man who would become one of the top 5 of Blue Lock.

Miyata was the first to see through our plan and attempt to stop Yukimiya.

"Too bad."

All I could do was sigh while watching my ex-teammate get destroyed. After all, what else would you expect after going one on one against the one man known for being unbeatable in a one on one.

The 3vs3 format was perfect for him. It was much easier to draw a one on one and thus it was the perfect moment for Yukimiya to show off.

He has improved tremendously. Not only was he extremely fast, fast enough to get past Karasu and breach their defense as soon as the game started, allowing him to be in the perfect position to receive my pass. But his dribbling has also improved. He got rid of most of the wasted movements he may have had in the past.

A quick glance at his status was all I needed to understand.

He gained a title and a special weapon.

[One-on-one Emperor]

A title which raised a few of his stats whenever he was in a closed one-on-one face off.

And [One-on-one Emperor Style] a special weapon which, coupled with his title, gave him an unfair advantage in those kinds of situations.

It was obvious that they were far from being mastered and polished, but this much was enough to set him above everyone else.

In that instant, he was the biggest threat on the field.

Hiori was quick to catch onto that and hurriedly joined Miyata who was already beyond overwhelmed.

"The only emperor in this field is me." Yukimiya easily got past Miyata and used his speed to increase the distance between them even more.

"When did you learn all those tricks?" Hiori questioned as he now stood in front of him.

The last match of the stratum was Team Z against Team V.

They knew each other well enough for Hiori to tell that Yukimiya improved just as much as Karasu — if not more.

"Without your pet crow helping you, you're useless." Yukimiya taunted as he gave a quick glance to Otoya who sneaked up behind Miyata and was now alone in front of the keeper.

"You're still too predictable!" Hiori caught on to the subtle change in behavior.

Yukimiya slowed down, and his quick glance was also something Hiori noticed. He was easily able to connect the dots. He immediately put his leg in between the ball and Otoya, hoping to intercept the incoming pass.

..

But no pass came.

"Smart people tend to be the most predictable." Yukimiya threw his remark back at him.

He had slowed down enough to arm his most powerful shot.

[Gyro Shot]

Yet another of his special weapons.

This one didn't evolve, but the speed of execution as well as the power he put into it were entirely different.

The ball flew in the air with an incredible spin causing it to change trajectory at the last moment and lodge itself deep into the net.

1-1.

"You've become even more monstrous." I praised sincerely.

I made the right choice to team up with him.

I wonder how they will try to come back from this.

[3rd POV]

"Do you really think this will work?" Hiori asked perplexed.

Right before the next kickoff, Miyata took Karasu and Hiori aside. The reason was simple, they needed a plan to win.

"If we allow them to get a one on one, then they will surely abuse of Yukimiya's strength. It was easy to counter him in a 11vs11, but now it's different." Miyata explained.

"Well, that settles it for the defense. All that's left is for us to score." Karasu chimed in.

"I don't think this will be much of a problem." Miyata replied confidently as he went for the kickoff and passed the ball to Hiori.

With two of the best players he ever faced on his team, it would allow him to move and think more freely. Especially since he already knew the strength and weaknesses of every single player here.

He could come up with more insane strategies.
