Blue lock: the true egoist

Chapter 84: A New Monster

[3rd POV]

Once again, as if conserving stamina wasn't a thing, Jude was the first to rush in and try to cause chaos in their formation.

"You're getting awfully cocky." Jude spoke up after overhearing Miyata's last words.

"You think so?" Miyata was unfazed.

Without even looking at it, he trapped Hiori's pass and sent it back to him. He then used Jude's blindspot to get past him when his attention was grabbed by Hiori.

Hiori reacted just as fast.

Yukimiya sprinted as fast as he could to intercept the ball, but he was a little off, allowing Hiori to send the ball back to Miyata and get past him. The slightest of openings is enough for Hiori to give back a precise pass.

To onlookers it was as if Hiori didn't even touch the ball. It all happened in an instant.

"Those passes are insane." Even Yukimiya had to admit it.

The weirdest thing wasn't the quality of the passes, but the timing.

It was as if Hiori and Miyata were in perfect sync. Their passes were both used as a lure to make Jude and Yukimiya move up too much by believing they could intercept it.

While also making them miss it by such a short margin that it could be seen as nothing more than luck. To everyone that's all it was — luck.

But Jude knew better.

There was no such thing.

"His special weapon also evolved." Jude commented in awe. "It looks like I underestimated him."

Miyata was undoubtedly a strategic genius.

Other than his already impressive analytical abilities, which were only surpassed by Karasu himself and Jude's [Eyes of the Lord]. Miyata was able to utilize that data to predict people's actions, whether that be his own teammates or his opponents.

Jude experienced it firsthand. But this time it was different.

In the past, Miyata spent hours visioning game footage and simulating the different possibilities to come up with the best tactics. But this time he did it on the spot.

If in the past his feats could be attributed to hard work, this time it was way beyond that.

He knew that Hiori would be able to catch on and would give him back a pass Jude wouldn't be able to intercept either.

Ideally this would've given them a 3vs1 situation in which Otoya is the last wall of defense.

Yet, Jude and Yukimiya were far too persistent.

"Those little tricks can only help you so much." Jude used his acceleration to turn around and catch up to Miyata in seconds.

"That's why he's here to finish the job." Miyata replied. Without wasting any more time he sent the ball forward to Karasu who was now left alone against Otoya.

Karasu's shit-eating grin only grew wider when he saw Otoya struggling to keep his ground. Otoya's weapon might have helped him under normal circumstances, but now he had no shadow for him to hide in. Like a fish out of water he was far from being comfortable.

The space Hiori and Miyata opened for Karasu turned out to be the worst kind of situation for Otoya.

"Now we're playing by my rules." Karasu announced with his trademark smirk.

"I don't dislike the spotlight, but right now it's not coming in handy..." Otoya's weapon was now obsolete.

Otoya had no choice but to try to block him with his body. Unfortunately, he was only half successful.

He wasn't able to stop Karasu from getting past him, but he was able to win enough time for Yukimiya to get to him and stop him.

It was now and 2vs1 and Jude was about to make it a 3vs1.

Although it's not his main weapon, Yukimiya was one of the fastest players in Blue Lock. Jude also had the stamina to always run at full speed.

Karasu was cornered.

"The best way to stop a crow is to put him in a cage." Otoya was able to catch up to him and block any opportunity to pass the ball to Hiori.

With no way out, Karasu sent a quick glance to Hiori — the one person he could always rely on. But his path was entirely blocked by Otoya.

Sending the ball there would be too risky. Yet, Hiori didn't look bothered.

His eyes weren't even on Karasu.

With Karasu's sharp analytical abilities it was easy to notice the slightest of cracks in the cage. Everything made sense to him now.

He used his hands and ball-keeping abilities to create a small opportunity.

He immediately dragged the ball closer to his body before faking a breakthrough to the left only to flick the ball with the back of his heel.

Hiori's gaze was the last piece of the puzzle for him to break out of the cage.

Everything led in the same direction.

"I knew you would notice." Miyata praised.

In the midst of all the chaos, he was able to use the little space Jude was unable to cover due to the distance between him and Karasu.

Without waiting any further. Miyata trapped the ball and smashed it into the net.

1-2.

..

"I didn't know Team X had another monster." Karasu laughed as Jude reached his level.

It was a surprise for both of them. Even though Karasu could sense the breach in the cage, it was still a huge gamble. He didn't even see Miyata, he only relied on his guts and the overall direction Hiori was looking at.

A no-look pass while encircled by two players and a third one barely a few meters away.

"I've outdone myself." Karasu shamelessly boasted.

"You really found the best teammates." Jude sighed.

In a normal team, Miyata's talent would go to waste. He might be a genius, but if nobody could understand him then he would just be seen as a fool.

That's most likely how it was in the past.

Yet, he was now on the same team as Hiori whose football IQ is far above most people. And Karasu whose analytical abilities allowed him to reach the very top of Blue Lock.

They're both bringing out the best out of Miyata's weapon.

..

"This is getting fun." Jude smiled.

"Are you finally going to play seriously?" Yukimiya asked with an easy going smile, he wasn't worried in the slightest about the score.

"It's about time we wrap this up."
