 "You're fired"

The echo of the CEO's voice rang in her ear as she couldn't believe what she just heard. Alexandra Thompson, a lady in her late 20s, had put her all to make the company successful as a department manager but a slight mistake had made her lose the job she loved so much. She had left work the previous day without a proper notice to visit the family of her fiancé leaving her team mates to handle the most crucial task which was unsuccessful. Unfortunately for her, she lost two most important things while chasing for one. She wasn't accepted into the family neither was her job still intact for her. She was so heartbroken that she cried a river, thinking of what next to do to meet up with her family's ends meet but her tears brought nothing to her table.

" Sir, please I had an emergency and I couldn't have gotten this opportunity a second time" She pleaded

"You left a task given to you and your team to a newbie, and what did he do? He threw such a great offer to the mud! I could have made billions from that contract but you chose your emergency over your job. I don't care to know what your emergency is all about. Just leave this office before I call the security on you" He shouted amidst anger.

She was left speechless for some minutes before she started to pack up her things to leave the office. As she walked through the alleyway to her apartment, a sudden outburst of rain caught up with her but her thoughts couldn't let her run. She only cried as she walked.

On getting to her apartment, she made way for the bathroom, took a hot shower that lasted up to one hour and changed into fresh clothes. Her thoughts were lingering on how to get a new and satisfying job until the knock at the door brought her back to reality.

As she held the doorknob, she opened the door. The sight of who she saw made her shed tears again. It was her fiancé.

" Why are you crying?" he asked in curiosity letting her to rest her face on his shoulders.

" I went to your office to know if we could have lunch together but was told you left earlier. Are you still bothered about my family?" he asked again but this time raising her face to meet with his.

" What's the problem, babe. I've been doing all the talking. Tell me what happened."

He took her to the couch and sat her down waiting for response.

" I lost my job" She said almost whispering.

" Why? What happened? "

" It was about yesterday. I didn't know a new contract came in and my team was to handle it. I was supposed to drop the review to my boss by evening since the deadline was by 12am but unfortunately, he only got an email on the cancellation of the contract." She explained.

Silence.

" I'm here to support you till you get a new job. For my family, they don't align my life for me. I can do whatever that pleases me" he assured her while caressing her back.

She continuously cried till she fell asleep.

Darkness covered Alex's eyes as she opened them from her sleep. She didn't notice the sight of Billy – her fiancé- when she woke up. Her weak body couldn't allow her to sit up. She got a hold of her cell phone and managed to get to the bathroom. She called her fiancé but there was no response. She needed someone by her side at the moment but her best friend- Mia – wasn't an option. She lives alone so there was no family member to speak with and the distance was about 150 kilometers.

She decides to drift from her place to Billy's. The serene environment didn't make her think much because she had to be on alert since it was late already. Billy's house isn't that far from her place so she decides to trek. On getting to his place, she could hear squeaks and moans but trusted Billy so much that she didn't believe he was the one making such sounds. As she drew closer to Billy's room, the sound became more obvious that she had to barge in without knocking.

Everyone is in shock.

" Babe!" she shouted. Still staring at the two figures that have taken the erotic V position.

They froze.

As she ran out of the room, she can hear footsteps approaching her. She tried to open the door but was subdued by a gigantic palm.

" Babe, I'm sorry" He apologized reluctantly.

" What are you sorry about? What can she do for you that I can't ? Was she the reason you said nothing when you parents rejected me?"

" I'm sorry, besides it's my first time."

" Are you for real? Your first time? I caught you in an erotic position with a stranger and this is what you say to me?"

" I already apologized. Is there a special way to do that?"

" I can't believe my ears. That's why you left me at home knowing fully well I'm depressed. I understand. "

She continuously stared at him but he didn't show any form of remorse. It was then she knew it was over. She lost three things in a day. She left and found her way to her apartment. She shed tears throughout the night and slept amidst crying.

" Can I help you young lady?" A deep voice asked from behind.

As she turned to see who was offering to help, the sun shone directly to her eyes that she had to block her face with her palm. The moment she gained her sight, the figure was nowhere to be found.

" Who could that be?" She thought and shrugged her shoulders.

As she bent to lift the load, she felt a touch on her shoulder.

She made a hard gasp.
