Chapter 22: Other Members
Defeating a stronger opponent, in this case, means having a low probability of winning.
On top of that, the possibility of death would also increase.
After hearing this, how could anyone not hesitate?
Only, Kelvin didn't even care about any of that.
As he said when he joined the Loki Familia, he wanted to fight stronger opponents.
So, once Kelvin knew he had to defeat an opponent stronger than him to obtain a high level of excelia in order to level up, naturally Kelvin would feel very excited.
After all, it's like hitting two birds with just one stone.
"It's not that bad ...." Kelvin sighed, "There are many instances when a weaker person can defeat an opponent stronger than him. And it's not just one, but many."
Although the requirements for leveling up were strict and difficult, there were many of them who managed to level up.
Why?
Because being weaker than your opponent allows for compensation through skills, reversals through tactics, and even a number of plots and tricks.
To be clear, isn't magic also a trump card?
If you happen to encounter an opponent stronger than yourself, then, by risking everything and casting a very long wide-area annihilation spell, unleash the power to scorch the sky and boil the sea, would it not be possible to burn down the stronger opponent at once?
All these possibilities depend on the weak side's potential victory over the strong side.
Of course, there was also a simpler method.
"I suggest you form a party with someone else again." Loki suggested, "although Silver Blader may be strong, but he can't possibly accompany you all the time."
As Loki said, Sylpha might have retired as an adventurer, but she had not sealed her phalanges and was still part of the Artemis Family.
With that said, if one day Sylpha was given a mission by Artemis and she had to die Orario, Kelvin would not be able to dive deeper and could only go upstairs alone.
As such, the only solution was to add another person to the party, and it had to be a Family member.
If you can't defeat an opponent one-on-one, it means you'll just have to defeat them by numbers.
Defeating stronger opponents this way is also tantamount to exploitation.
Although the drawback was, the high-level Excelia obtained would be distributed equally to the other contributing party members.
Which meant that the high-level Excelia obtained might not be enough to level someone up in one try.
Even so, all they need to do is do it again until they finally get enough, right?
Loki's advice was very clear, instead of taking risks alone, why not take risks with others? Wouldn't that be safer?
Although he had the possibility of dying while fighting, but he wouldn't die alone, and that was a plus point that Kelvin could capture.
"Party, yes." Kelvin raised his eyebrows.
Honestly, he wasn't too sure about forming a Party with other people, let alone his Family members.
It's not that he doesn't trust them, it's just that they are stronger than him, which means that the accommodation for obtaining excelia will be reduced, because the enemy becomes easier to defeat with a stronger party.
And that meant stunting her growth.
In fact, Kelvin himself forbade Sylpha to use her sword, and that was very clear. By using the sword, Sylpha was a monster with an invincible human form.
That was why Kelvin had previously forbidden Sylpha from carrying her sword, and only brought a dagger just in case.
"Oh, come on, kid! Isn't it great to have someone supporting you? You never know what troubles might come your way if you go on a solo career!"
Seeing Kelvin's hesitant face, Loki gritted his teeth, resisting the urge to hit him with his fist with all his might.
"Meh, damn. Expecting you to grow up well and steadily is probably just wishful thinking. Since your status has not yet reached its peak, let's familiarize you with group combat first. We'll figure out the details when it's time to level up!"
Looking at Kelvin's growth potential, there was no doubt that he had yet to fully unleash his potential at Level 1.
Given this, upgrading all of his basic abilities to A rank was undoubtedly possible, and even reaching S rank was a visible possibility.
Then, is someone who gains S rank for leveling up stronger than one who only levels up to D rank?
Both level up, and the strength gained after leveling up is the same. However, it is clear that those with a higher status at the initial S rank will be stronger.
This was the foundation mentioned at the beginning.
"Heh, I was actually looking forward to seeing if you could pull off the miracle of reaching S rank on all basic abilities." Loki chuckled.
"All S ranks?" Kelvin suddenly remembered someone who could do it.
It really was a miracle. At least, as far as he knew, even in the original work, only one person had come close to such an achievement.
That legendary character, dubbed Orario's ultimate weapon, with a staggering Level 7, had four basic abilities in his status of reaching S rank, just one short of reaching S rank on all basic abilities.
Other than that individual, there was no second person in the original work who had such a terrifying basic ability.
Of course, the protagonist, Bell Cranel, was an exception.
She not only achieved an S rank on all basic abilities but even surpassed it, reaching realms unheard of and unseen even by Gods.
In addition, there was Alfia, who although could not reach all S ranks, but some of her basic abilities were at S and even SS ranks.
It was still unknown how she could do that, but Kelvin speculated if it had something to do with her being the family of the protagonist.
I mean come on, it's tradition that if the protagonist is a cheat character, then his family members should be too!
This of course makes readers interested in the protagonist's family background, as they give birth to many strong talents in several generations.
Although, the protagonist's talent will certainly be greater, to the point where he can defeat a Demon King who has lived and fought for thousands of years with just 1 year of training.
"Well, forget about that now. I might know someone suitable for your Party members." Loki suddenly grinned, "what do you think?"
"Well, no problem. I don't mind as long as that person isn't too strong."
If it was a strong member, Kelvin would categorically reject it.
Of course it was because it would hinder his growth at some point, but more importantly, he didn't want the role of the main character in this story to be taken by his Party members!
He was the main character in this story, dammit!
"Oh, then calm down seja." Loki was surprised that Kelvin agreed so easily, "Although he is quite strong and special, but he has some problems within himself. That's why I want her to join you. Who knows, if she's with you, she can overcome her problems, right?"
Seeing Loki's grin, Kelvin knew that he would regret this decision.
Oh well, he had already regretted it up to this point.
