Chapter 23: Party
In the morning, Kelvin came out of his room as he headed straight to the backyard.
Yesterday, Loki said he would assign one person to organize a party with him. That was why he would wait for his party partner in the backyard while training his body.
From the way Loki said it yesterday, he really intended to find a party member for Kelvin.
It was not without reason, it was probably because of Kelvin's speed of growth, and it wouldn't take long before he could finally level up.
If that was the case, then it wouldn't be surprising if he would join the next expedition.
But, since the expedition contained many of their Family members, it was likely that Kelvin, who was not used to teamwork, would struggle a bit.
That being said, Loki's reasoning probably had something to do with preparing him for future exploits and leveling up. He was probably planning to get him to join the senior Familia in order to gain safe experience.
And that was also the reason why he chose one of her Family members as his party partner.
In the dungeon, anything was possible. And there was no telling if he would suddenly find himself surrounded by monsters, and in the worst case scenario, other adventurers who hated him.
That was why Loki wanted her to be safe by telling her to form a party with her family members.
Although Sylpha might be quite strong, but she wasn't from their Family, and Loki didn't want to take any chances.
Kelvin was rather helpless, even so he didn't think much and just waited for his party mates to arrive.
Although going to a dungeon with someone meant he couldn't act as freely as before, honing team battles was definitely not a matter to be underestimated.
Yesterday Sylpha only served as a supporter and didn't help him in battle, but this time he wanted Sylpha to fight with him to practice their cooperation.
Right now, Kelvin had no reason to refuse as he himself realized how important teamwork was.
After all, there was a saying that "two is better than one. And a battalion is better than a company".
At this moment, what Kelvin was curious about was 'who' was his party partner.
Could it be Ais?
Or maybe Raul?
But, that didn't seem to be the case. Especially considering Kelvin was still level 1, and he could only get up to the 15th floor with his party mates.
So, assigning senior adventurers would only hinder their growth, considering they would only be on the upper floors.
So, the best decision would be to assign a level 2 or at worst level 3 adventurer who was a mage or a supporter.
Before he could think of that, the sound of footsteps could be heard approaching him.
Kelvin turned around and saw two Elves walking towards him.
"Kelvin, Loki told me to find you a party partner to go to the dungeon. I'm here to take him.
Kelvin looked at the Elf Royalty who said this with an interested expression. Then his attention was drawn to the Elf girl hiding behind his back.
"Yes?"
Kelvin looked at them with an interested expression.
Of course, she could guess the identity of the hiding Elf girl. Only, she remained silent as she stared at Riveria.
Behind Riveria was an Elf girl with long orange-blonde hair in pigtails. She looked young, yet her growth was quite mature. Still, there was no doubt about it, this girl was beautiful.
"In that case, I want you to take her with you when you go to the dungeon." Riveria explained, "although she is level 3, but she has certain flaws that need to be fixed. So there's no harm in bringing her with you."
The hiding girl was quite nervous and bowed her head excessively, causing her ponytail to sway, but even so, she greeted him.
"Ha-Hello ...."
Kelvin stared at her for a while before giving a small nod, "Mn, hello?"
As the two stared at each other, Riveria wondered if this would be alright?
From what Loki had told her, Kelvin's growth rate was really unreasonable, and he might as well be on par with the higher level two adventures.
Because of this, Riveria proposed an Elf girl whom she thought would be his successor in the future.
Lefiya Viridis.
As an adventurer, death could come at any time, and Riveria knew that all too well. So, here she intended to make Lefiya her successor in the future by giving her the necessary training.
As a successor, Lefiya was undoubtedly talented. Moreover, her magic could make her cast all kinds of Elven magic as long as she knew the spells and the effects they produced.
Even with such talent, however, Lefiya had one weakness; she lacked experience.
Moreover, Lefiya was often afraid and lost her composure when dealing with monsters. That made her repeatedly fail to cast her spells, which made it difficult for them.
That was why he wanted Lefiya to join Kelvin as his Party member.
Since Kelvin would only be upstairs, she didn't have to worry about their safety. And at the same time, Lefiya could get used to monsters and not panic when facing them.
"Are you Lefiya Viridis?" Kelvin asked.
"Eh?" Lefiya was a little surprised. "Y-You recognize me?"
"Of course." Kelvin looked at her with a faint smile. "You are the vice-captain's chosen disciple and successor, the future executive member of the Familia. Even as a rookie like me who just joined the Familia, I've already heard about your name."
Not to mention, this girl was an important supporting character in the anime and probably one of the heroines there.
It would be strange if Kelvin didn't know her.
But in his view, this girl's behavior seemed to be getting more and more anxious and nervous.
"Successor and all that... I'm still too early for that!" Lefiya shook her head, making her ponytail sway.
Meanwhile, Riveria, who was watching their interaction, remained silent and watched.
Her attitude of not denying Kelvin's accusation of "successor" certainly made Kelvin even more convinced that Lefiya really might become Riveria's successor in the future. Well, that was if she could survive.
Seeing her reaction, Kelvin knew that other people's expectations of her were huge, especially since she was a talent who could cast all kinds of Elven magic.
Seeing her feeling pressured, Kelvin had no intention of giving her more pressure than necessary.
"Even so, are you sure you want to be a member of my Party?" Kelvin asked while looking at her, "just so you know, I'm not alone because there are others who will accompany us."
"Yes!" Lefiya said nervously. "Although I'm not very reliable, I'll do my best to keep up with you. Please advise!"
After saying that, she even bowed deeply to him.
When she saw this, she took a step back, avoiding this move.
"Don't do that..." said Kelvin with a somewhat subtle look. "Technically, I'm the one who should be saying that."
Lefiya was a Level 3 second-class adventurer, two levels higher than Kelvin, who was only Level 1, that meant Lefiya was his senior and had more experience than him.
Under such circumstances, logically, what she said should be said by him. It should be her who felt nervous and anxious, not the other way around.
However, why was the position completely reversed, with her (Lefiya) looking like a Junior, and him (Kelvin) a senior?
That didn't make sense.
But the man's expression and response, once again, did not make her feel at ease; instead, it made her even more nervous.
"I'm still immature, incapable of taking care of a junior like Riveria-sama does ...." Lefiya said in a small voice, at the corners of her eyes tears appeared as if she could cry at any time.
Okay, from her demeanor, Kelvin could clearly see that Lefiya was a person who was quite protected from the outside world.
She was actually an innocent girl who had to fight inside the dungeon to survive(?).
Well, Kelvin didn't know the reason why Lefiya became an adventure, but let's just say it was like that.
"Okay..., calm down ...." Seeing that the girl was panicking, Kelvin tried to calm her down.
"From now on, we'll form a party and fight together. Then, let's be more relaxed. No need to be so rigid, just be casual with me."
"Be-Really?" Lefiya, upon hearing this, relaxed slightly but still looked tense.
"Mn."
"Since you guys seem to be getting along, I'll go first. I have some work to finish after this." Riveria suddenly said.
Her purpose here was only to take Lefiya and hand her over to Kelvin for direction.
Although Kelvin was probably weaker and didn't have much experience. But, his speed of adaptation could not be underestimated.
Now, all Riveria needed to do was wait for the results, and perhaps give Lefiya and Kelvin some guidance some time.
"A-Ah, yes! Thank you for accompanying me, Riveria-sama!" Lefiya bowed as she watched the departing Riveria.
To be honest, she was a bit nervous to come here alone, so Riveria accompanied her to dispel her nerves.
After all, Riveria although stern, but she still cared about her friends and family, worthy of being called a Mama Elf because of her care.
"By the way, have you prepared everything you need?" Kelvin asked while looking at her.
Since they were going to the dungeon, Kelvin wanted to make sure of Lefiya's preparations.
After all, Lefiya was different from him who only needed food and some weapons, Lefiya was the opposite.
As a witch, Lefiya naturally had different preparations than him, and he wanted to make sure Lefiya was ready for it all.
"A-Ah, yes! I've prepared everything!" Lefiya nodded confidently. "I've prepared a lot of potions to bring along, besides that I've also made provisions and some snacks for us to eat."
"Really? Then we can go straight to the dungeon this time." Kelvin was surprised by Lefiya's preparations.
Supposedly the price of one small bottle of potion was several thousand valis, and Lefiya said she brought 'a lot'?
Okay, the concept of a lot was used to refer to a number with a large value, which meant Lefiya had at least brought more than 10 different types of potions.
Kelvin was almost speechless by her words, seeing a girl younger than him having more money than him ....
Kelvin thought he might have to open a new business in this world to earn money
