Chapter 203: Chapter 203 Another Step Forward
At the center of the crater, Wonder Woman reached out and grasped the handle of Mjolnir.
All eyes turned toward her.
Every gaze was fixed on Wonder Woman and the handle of Mjolnir she now held.
Even Loki, the one controlling the Destroyer from afar, found his breath catching as he watched the scene unfold.
Crack!!
It was as if everyone heard a sudden thunderclap echoing in their ears.
"What is this?!"
Thor eyes widened in shock.
As the former wielder of Mjolnir, he was all too familiar with that sound.
At that moment, Thor stared blankly at the scene before him, as though he could already envision Wonder Woman lifting Mjolnir.
"Impossible!"
Thor face was filled with disbelief and astonishment.
At that moment, he recalled his father, Odin, the All-Father, and the words he spoke when stripping Thor of his divine powers and exiling him from Asgard:
"…Whoever holds this hammer, if they are worthy, shall possess the power of Thor."
The thought flashed through his mind.
Boom!!
Thunder roared, and the once-clear sky darkened as a storm brewed overhead.
Dark clouds pressed down, heavy and ominous.
Countless bolts of lightning converged within the clouds, their deafening crashes accompanied by the sight of blue-violet streaks darting like restless fish.
Everyone looked up at the sky before returning their gaze to Wonder Woman.
Sizzle, crackle!
Lightning began to envelop Wonder Woman hands as she gripped Mjolnir handle.
The bolts snaked up her body like living creatures, yet miraculously caused her no harm. They seemed to belong to her, as if born to heed her command.
"Rise!"
With a sharp command, Wonder Woman called out.
Boom!!
From the black clouds, a lightning bolt shot down, striking Wonder Woman as she raised Mjolnir high.
The lightning formed a column of energy that completely enveloped her.
All eyes were glued to the crater center.
"She actually did it!"
"Thor… a female Thor! Sif, are you sure she not Thor illegitimate daughter?"
"Damn it, how would I know?"
Even the Asgardian quartet, who had been adamantly certain Thor couldn't have an illegitimate child, began to doubt Wonder Woman true origins.
They had no understanding of the enchantments Odin had placed on Mjolnir.
No matter how hard they searched their memories, they couldn't find any explanation for why Wonder Woman was able to lift Mjolnir.
One by one, they began questioning everything they thought they knew.
Asgard.
Loki, seated on the throne, abruptly stood, his usually somber face showing rare astonishment.
The God of Thunder had returned!
Unlike the Asgardian quartet, Loki had been present when Odin enchanted Mjolnir. He understood exactly what had just happened.
That woman lifting Mjolnir signified that she had fully inherited the power of Thor.
With this turn of events, the fate of the Destroyer was sealed.
Already greatly weakened from its battle with the woman, the Destroyer now stood no chance against an enemy wielding the full might of Thor.
This wasn't a potential reversal of fortune—it was an inevitable defeat.
"You've forced my hand!"
Loki muttered under his breath, releasing his control over the Destroyer and allowing it to enter standby mode.
With a wave of his hand, he dismissed the magical projection before him and began striding purposefully toward the Bifröst Bridge.
His retreating figure was resolute.
Earth.
After lifting Mjolnir, Wonder Woman had fully inherited the power of Thor.
Sizzle, crackle!
She held Mjolnir in one hand, extending her other hand with fingers spread, feeling the subtle currents of electricity dancing at her fingertips.
The corner of Wonder Woman lips lifted slightly, her long hair flowing as if moved by an invisible breeze.
She looked at the Destroyer not far away, which had just completed repairing its body.
However, its energy fluctuations were no longer as overwhelming as they had been. With a powerful throw, she hurled Mjolnir toward it.
Boom!
Mjolnir streaked through the air like a bolt of lightning, the deafening sonic boom echoing in everyone ears.
Clang!!
The metallic clash rang out as Mjolnir struck its target.
Under the hammer assault, the Destroyer body crumpled on one side once again, resembling a hapless punching bag. It looked utterly battered.
In the next moment, Mjolnir flew back to Wonder Woman hand.
Having tested Thor powers, Wonder Woman now had a clear sense of the level of strength Thor had once possessed.
"Now, it time to end this," she said, her gaze sharp as she looked at the Destroyer, still attempting to repair itself.
Whoosh!
She leapt into the air.
Sizzle!
Countless arcs of electricity filled the void, as dark clouds gathered overhead once more, accompanied by the deafening roar of thunder.
A massive surge of lightning converged on Mjolnir, its electric glow intensifying.
Gripping the hammer tightly, Wonder Woman brought it down with tremendous force upon the Destroyer.
Boom!
Finally, under the expectant gazes of countless onlookers, the heavily damaged Destroyer, its combat abilities significantly weakened, was smashed apart, its fragments scattering across the ground.
"It over!"
"It really is the power of Thor… So, does this mean Thor will remain a mortal forever?"
The Asgardian quartet initially rejoiced, but as they exchanged glances, their expressions grew anxious.
They were worried that Thor might not be able to handle such a blow.
The S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, on the other hand, didn't share their concerns and collectively sighed in relief.
"Anton, we couldn't have done it without the Justice League this time," Coulson said with a smile, while directing his agents to clean up the aftermath.
"Something wrong," Anton said, frowning, his expression far from relieved.
"Huh?"
Coulson heart sank, and he began firing off questions. "What wrong? Is it not over? Are there more enemies?"
"No."
Anton glanced at Coulson and shook his head. "What happens next isn't your concern."
"What do you mean?"
Coulson was baffled, the sense of relief he had just felt vanishing.
Anton didn't answer further but shifted his gaze to Wonder Woman.
The reason he felt something was amiss was that he hadn't received a Justice Points reward notification from the system.
In other words, the system had determined that the matter wasn't truly over.
How could that be?
Anton stroked his chin thoughtfully for a moment, a trace of helplessness crossing his face.
Perhaps it was because the incident wasn't fully resolved.
The Destroyer was merely a tool, and its controller, Loki, was the one behind everything. The root cause and resolution of the situation inevitably involved Loki.
Anton understood—nothing came without a price.
To earn Justice Points, the crisis had to be completely resolved.
In other words, he needed to go to Asgard, apprehend, or eliminate Loki, the instigator.
Only then would the matter be truly over.
"Looks like… I'll have to make a trip," Anton murmured.
Sharing Anton thoughts, Wonder Woman looked up at the sky as the dark clouds dispersed.
She then grabbed Thor and leapt across the lava flows at the edge of the crater, landing in front of the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.
Under everyone watchful eyes, she nodded at Anton before turning to the Asgardian quartet.
"This isn't over," Wonder Woman said. "Summon Heimdall. I'm going to Asgard."
