Chapter 14
I really should’ve looked around the city for a book store. I guess in the heat of the moment, I didn’t really allot understanding shit as my main priority there. It’d just be a matter of how many books I could speed-read before getting kicked out and throw in jail (hopefully not). I guess I’ll go back at some point, maybe when Clara decided to leave.
[Travel to Oasis]
“Hey Clara, do you know of any methods to travel to somewhere you know absolutely nothing about?”
“Maybe if you had a think with your rat brain you might get the answer to your own question.”
Hey, I can’t be making any assumptions in this fantasy world.
Anywho, I still didn’t know how to get to the Oasis. There was literally not a single clue regarding how to travel there. Surely the system would at least tell me something.
[Travel to Oasis]
Okay, I should’ve expected that at this point.
Maybe if I just will it into existence the gods will hear my desire.
Please, let me go to the oasis.
…
As you wish~
Huh? That really worked?
[Travelling to OASIS…]
[Note: You cannot travel to the oasis if you’re in combat or not in a calm state of mind]

It seems they’ve got countermeasures to combat-logging here as well.
A few moments later, I was in a completely white oasis. As you’d expected given the name. However, the ground was covered with the type of grass you’d expect on the grounds of the World Cup stadium. That shit was crisp and clear, like it was grown under lab conditions.
As I tried to walk forward, I found myself smacking my face quite violently into the side of an invisible wall.
Fuck.
Anywho, the only object within the one square metre plot of accessible land in this oasis was what appeared to be a small garden bed. It was quite obviously for planting my plants—providing a safe environment for them, I guess.
Digging some holes, I managed to squeeze around twenty beans within the tiny, yet surprisingly elegant wooden structure.
I guess it’s time to leave…
Hold on, there wasn’t necessarily a rule saying I could only plant in the garden bed. The sun was bright and the weather seemed to be incredibly nice—it was probably a good idea to squeeze as much shit here as I could.
Crouching down a little, I began to dig into the well-kept grass below my feet. It ruined the aesthetic a little but oh well.
It gave me enough room to plant around 30 more beans, before I was completely encased in my own gardening ingenuity.
Okay, it’s finally time to leave.
Let me out now.
Thanks.
Hello?
Please let me out.
He—
[Leaving OASIS…]

I was greeted by a very shocked-looking Clara.
“How the hell did you already manage to get an ability. What on earth are you, Rin?”
“Huh? It’s not really an ability. I just travel to this weird tiny piece of land where I can plant plants.”
“Tell me more.”
“Um, there’s not really much more to say.”
She had finally put down her Object Manifestation and Optimal EM-wave Emission book that she was reading.
To be fair, I didn’t think there was much I needed to hide. I wanted to find out more about the systems of this world anyways.
“I’ll explain it more to you if you tell me about the Zone of Absolute Control.”
“How do you not already know about it?”
“It’s complicated. I’ll explain some of my situation to you in exchange.”
“Fine.”
She sighed, taking a step closer to me.
Damn, from closer, the smell of her vibrant yet subtle perfume was really quite nice. I guess she puts in a decent amount of work to maintain her appearance. It perfectly matched the stern scowl she had at all times—well, at all times with me at least.
“You know about d-waves and EM-waves right?”
“Not really.”
“Seriously? You don’t even have the basics?”
“I don’t come from this world, you know that.”
“Well, I’ll give you a basic rundown…”
It took a little while, so I’ll summarise the important parts here (removing all the parts where she felt like randomly insulting me):
1. The world is filled with d-waves (full name defective waves, just like me). Shit floats around uninvited in the air and is absolutely useless—hence the name.
2. People with talent or something can convert nearby d-waves into EM-waves in their Sphere of Influence™. There EM-waves are actually useful and can be converted into junk like water and fire.
3. The Zone of Absolute Control is a very small area around the border of your body (depending on how skilled you are), in which you can fully manipulate, almost like a malleable barrier around your body. It’s apparently a high-level skill—which I just randomly unlocked, which is fun.
Well, that’s the crux of it all. She really went in-depth with her explanation despite calling it a ‘basic rundown’.
“Did you get all that?”
“Yep, understood it for the most part.”
“I’m surprised you were able to do so. I would’ve thought that you had a learning disability.”
“Well, now that’s not very nice.”
“Anyways, tell me about your teleportation ability.”
She was staring straight at me now. Ah, what’s with all this pressure. Now I’ve gotta summarise my point and give them to her straight. Um. Well.
“I randomly unlock ability from some place.”
“What?”
“I don’t really know how it works either.”
“What about the teleportation.”
“I kinda just willed it to happen.”
“What do you mean.”
“I was just like please let me go to the oasis, and then I got teleported.”
“Okay, you’re about as inexplicable as I expected. Still, this is decent to learn about at least.”
“Thanks.”
“It wasn’t a compliment.”
Ah.
