Digital Emperor (Naruto X Digimon)

Chapter 15: Chapter 15

Leaving the girls to their conversation, Naruto wandered toward Steve Rogers, the head of the Digimon Task Force in the USA. Steve had always been a figure of respect in the Digimon world. Despite his youthful appearance, he was in his sixties, though his strong build and charismatic presence made him look decades younger. He had a deep sense of duty and a heart full of wisdom, qualities that had allowed him to lead the USA Task Force with unwavering resolve. The region, home to the strongest Tamers in the world, had faced its fair share of challenges. Violent tendencies ran high in the area, and it was a region known for its danger, but Steve had maintained peace against all odds. The USA had survived the initial invasion of Digimon and was one of the first regions to rebuild. In fact, the region had become a breeding ground for powerful mutations, some of which were a direct result of the fierce battles fought on its soil.

Though China shared a similar level of power, it seemed that the USA had been lucky with its Tamers, who had been forged through years of conflict. However, the country also had a reputation for harboring some of the most perverted people in the world. This led to the emergence of the so-called New Types—Tamers and Digimon with abilities beyond the normal scope—who appeared there before anywhere else in the world.

It was unexpected to see Steve here at the celebration. He had been in the city for a meeting with the local Task Force commander, and when the invitation had come through, he had decided to join the event. Naruto had met Steve during a past conflict, and their battle had solidified a mutual respect between the two. Steve, being familiar with Naruto's background, had even invited him to join the Task Force in the USA at one point.

"Congratulations, Naruto," Steve said warmly as he approached the younger man. "I knew you had a great future ahead of you, but this... this is a bit of a surprise. I didn't come prepared with a proper gift, but I hope this will do." Steve gave Naruto a firm handshake, followed by a friendly hug. His smile was genuine, and there was a twinkle of pride in his eyes as he spoke.

Naruto had always felt an affinity for older people in this world. Perhaps it was because, in many ways, they had the same maturity level as he did, and he appreciated their wisdom. Steve was no exception. In fact, Naruto found Steve's approach to leadership and life in general to be refreshing, and they had become close during their interactions. Even Minato, Naruto's father, got along well with Steve, and their bond had been forged through mutual respect and admiration.

With a chuckle, Steve reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out his red and blue Digivice, the one with a star emblazoned on the back. Naruto, always carrying his own Digivice, took it out and was about to say something when Steve pressed a button on his device, sending a data transfer. As soon as Naruto received the information, his heart skipped a beat. He had seen many valuable items in both of his lives, but what Steve had just sent him was unlike anything he had ever encountered.

It was a piece of gold chrome Digizoid.

The metal was legendary—known to be the strongest material in the Digital World. It was nearly indestructible and was derived from Huanglong ore, a rare and powerful substance. The Uzumaki clan, despite their vast wealth and influence, didn't even possess anything like it. This kind of material was highly sought after, and there were many in the world who would kill for even the smallest fragment. The thought of receiving such a gift from Steve left Naruto speechless, the weight of the gesture settling heavily on him.

"Steve, I can't accept this," Naruto said, his voice tight with gratitude and disbelief. "It's too precious. You should use it for your partner, not for me." The temptation to keep it was there, but Naruto couldn't bring himself to accept something of such value. It was too important, too rare for someone like him to hold onto. He was aware that Steve's partner would benefit far more from this treasure than he would.

Steve, however, only smiled softly. "You've earned it, Naruto. In fact, this is my way of showing respect for everything you've done. You've come a long way, and I believe you'll do great things with this." His tone was kind, but there was a knowing glint in his eyes. "You don't need to have everything figured out right now. Sometimes, you just need to take a step forward and trust the journey ahead."

Naruto stared at the gold chrome Digizoid, still unsure whether he should take it. But as he looked into Steve's eyes, he understood the depth of the gift. This wasn't just a token of material wealth—it was an acknowledgment of his strength, his potential, and his future.

Huanglong Ore was a virtual ore unlike any other, known for its rarity and its almost impossible-to-measure hardness. Found only deep underground, its unique properties made it virtually indestructible. The ore could only be scratched by other pieces of Huanglong Ore, rendering it incomparable to other metals and minerals. Its absolute hardness could not be gauged using traditional methods, making it a substance of mystery and awe. Despite its formidable strength, Huanglong Ore was too heavy for most practical applications, especially when it came to weapons or armor. However, it had one major characteristic that made it truly extraordinary: it could merge with living beings, an ability that had yet to be fully understood. This merging process took far longer than the age of myth, and as a result, only one Digimon had ever been known to unify with Huanglong Ore—Huanglongmon.

Yet, while Huanglongmon represented the epitome of a being bonded with this rare ore, there were also Digimon like Groundramon, which was known to dwell within veins of Huanglong Ore. The ore was found embedded in its scales, giving it a unique and powerful nature, though it was not quite as integrated as the fully unified Huanglongmon.

Despite these abilities, Huanglong Ore had its limitations, which led to the creation of a new, improved metal: Chrondigizoit. This material was a hybrid between the properties of Huanglong Ore and living tissue, a revolutionary step in Digimon metallurgy. Chrondigizoit, or CHO-alloy as it was formally known, was an intermediate substance that combined the immense hardness of Huanglong Ore with the flexibility and smoothness of living tissue. This allowed for the creation of armor and weapons that were not only incredibly durable but also capable of integrating with their user's body, becoming part of them. Armor made from Chrondigizoit would deflect virtually any attack, making it one of the most coveted materials in the Digital World.

However, even Chrondigizoit was surpassed by its refined form, Chrome Digizoid. This virtual super-metal was the strongest known material in the Digital World. Chrome Digizoid was so resilient that it could only be damaged by the most powerful attacks or by other objects made from the same metal. As such, it became the benchmark for measuring hardness, and lower-purity forms of Chrome Digizoid were still remarkably tough. Despite its strength, the metal was flexible enough to be used in various forms, from armor to weaponry, and even in the construction of wings. The rare and high-purity Chrome Digizoid was a substance of tremendous value, often leading to violent conflicts over its possession.

Mines of Chrome Digizoid were scarce, and the regions where it was found were fiercely protected by powerful factions. Adventurers who ventured into these dangerous territories in search of the metal often found themselves meeting an untimely demise. Chrome Digizoid's value and rarity were unmatched, and it was considered one of the most precious resources in the Digital World.

There were five distinct chromatic variations of Chrome Digizoid, each with unique abilities. The strongest and most coveted of these was the Gold variant, a substance of unmatched power. This particular form of Chrome Digizoid was highly sought after for its extraordinary abilities and its capacity to amplify the strength of the Digimon or objects it was grafted onto. Even a small piece, about the size of a tennis ball, could fetch a phenomenal price.

The value of such an item was incalculable, and its possession was a mark of power and status in the Digital World. Whether used for forging weapons, armor, or even grafted into a Digimon's body, the Gold variant of Chrome Digizoid was a treasure worth fighting for—and Naruto had just received a piece of it.

Steve chuckled, watching Naruto's genuine refusal of the Chrome Digizoid. He had expected nothing less. In a world filled with ambition and greed, Naruto stood out. His humility was a rare treasure, even among the strongest Tamers, and Steve respected that immensely. It was rare to find someone who didn't simply pretend to be humble in order to secure a gift, but Naruto was different. The sincerity in his words wasn't just an act; it was who he was.

Naruto was more than just a young Tamer. He was a symbol of what humanity could achieve when unclouded by personal desire. Even with something as valuable as Gold Chrome Digizoid right in front of him, he showed no signs of wanting it for himself. That was the kind of strength that would shape the future.

Steve, who had spent years leading the Digimon Task Force, wasn't surprised by the kid's reaction. He'd seen many come and go, each one seeking power or fame, but Naruto was different. He had the potential to surpass them all. It was that potential that made Steve want to keep an eye on him, to guide him. But for now, Steve would respect his decision. The offer would remain open, waiting for when the time was right.

"You sure? My partner's already fully upgraded," Steve said, giving Naruto a knowing smile. "I was thinking you could use it for some gauntlets or armor for your partners. It's too good a piece of metal to waste." He knew full well that Naruto would decline again, but it was a way to test his resolve.

Naruto thought for a moment, mulling over Steve's suggestion. He had considered the same thing but quickly dismissed the idea. "I'm sure," he replied, shaking his head. "I don't need it right now. My partners aren't ready for it either." The thought of putting that kind of power in the hands of his Digimon, still developing and growing, seemed reckless. It could draw unwanted attention from those who would exploit the power or worse, those who would seek to take it from him.

Steve's eyes twinkled as he listened to Naruto's words. He had expected this kind of response, but what really struck him was the absence of hesitation. Many would have taken the offer, even if only to secure it for later. But Naruto was not like the others. He didn't need to collect power just for the sake of it.

"Good choice," Steve said, nodding. "But I'm not going to let it go that easily. When the time comes and you're ready, just give me a call. I'll send it to you."

Naruto wasn't entirely sure what to say, but he could see that Steve was determined to insist on it. Still, the gift was too much for him at this stage. "You're giving me too much favor," Naruto said, trying to steer the conversation elsewhere. "I'll look for something for you when the time comes. Or if you ever need me, call on me. I'll be there."

It was clear that Steve was attached to this gesture, wanting Naruto to have the best equipment, to be prepared for the challenges ahead. But Naruto could see the underlying meaning. Steve wasn't just offering him a powerful piece of metal; he was offering him a bond, a connection that would endure and strengthen over time.

"I'll call you when the time is right," Steve said with a grin. "Until then, no more complaining. If you do, I'll have Wanda 'convince' you." He chuckled at his own joke, knowing full well how much Naruto dreaded the idea of Wanda's abilities. The Scarlet Witch, with her powers over chaos and mind control, was a force to be reckoned with. Even Steve, despite being the leader, knew when to tread lightly around her. Wanda was an essential member of the Task Force, and although she might have been stronger than Steve in raw power, Steve's skills as a leader were unrivaled.

"No need for that," Naruto replied quickly, a slight smirk forming on his face. "I'm happy with that arrangement." The idea of Wanda getting into his mind was something Naruto would prefer to avoid at all costs. There were far too many dangers in the world already, and he wasn't keen on adding another one.

The two shared a brief moment of understanding, an unspoken bond forming between them. Steve saw in Naruto not just a potential ally but a friend, someone who could stand beside him when the time came to face the greatest threats the world had ever known. And Naruto, in turn, understood that Steve wasn't just offering him a gift—he was offering him the chance to be part of something greater than himself.

Steve Rogers had always been the kind of leader who shouldered the burdens of his country and his team with resilience. But there was a heaviness in his voice when he shared the news with Naruto. The task force had been managing threats from criminal organizations, and the weight of it all was starting to take its toll. The Brotherhood, Hellfire Club, White Tiger Gang, SUC, and even Ouroboros had all set their sights on the United States, each one with its own agenda and motives, creating chaos in their wake. The presence of so many dangerous groups in the same territory was a serious cause for concern.

"We're spread thin, Naruto," Steve said, his voice laced with exhaustion. "The X-Men have been helping out, but it feels like there's always another group lurking in the shadows, waiting to strike. And the worst part is, we don't know who's pulling the strings."

Naruto listened carefully, his mind already piecing together the various threats. The digital world always had its own set of dangers, but this felt different. There was something far more sinister brewing in the real world, something far beyond the usual criminal syndicates. He could sense the anxiety in Steve's voice, and that in itself was unsettling.

Steve's trust in Naruto was clear; after all, he'd already shared more than most leaders would have with someone outside their own team. But there was something about Naruto's insight and ability to think outside the box that made Steve open up. And Naruto didn't hesitate to offer his perspective.

"I'm not surprised," Naruto said, his expression serious. "You've got treasure showing up in the Digital World connected to the USA. Something big is on the horizon. But there's more, isn't there? A unique Digimon, one that's tied directly to the territory you're talking about."

Steve raised an eyebrow at Naruto's insight. He had already considered the appearance of rare treasures, but the unique Digimon was something he hadn't fully connected yet.

Naruto continued, his tone growing darker. "The final thing you should worry about is the balance of power. These groups aren't just trying to take control of your country. They're aiming to topple the government, disrupt the balance of the entire world, and make sure they don't have to hide anymore like they're some kind of shadow."

Steve froze, the gravity of Naruto's words sinking in. The shock was clear on his face, as he hadn't considered that the situation was this dire. He'd been so focused on the local issues with the various criminal organizations that the bigger picture had eluded him.

"That's... that's huge," Steve muttered, his mind racing. "I knew something wasn't right, but I never thought it could go this far."

He took a deep breath, trying to regain composure, but the enormity of the situation was overwhelming. He immediately excused himself and motioned for the key members of the Task Force to follow him. There was no time to waste. The news that Naruto had given him was too critical to ignore.

"We need to pull all the important personnel and start preparing for something far bigger than we've ever faced," Steve said to his team as he left, leaving Naruto behind. The air in the room felt charged with tension as everyone followed Steve's lead, knowing the scale of what they were about to face was unlike anything they had prepared for.

As the meeting took a more urgent turn, Minato and Kushina excused themselves to join the discussion, given the gravity of the situation and Naruto's last suggestion, which had become the central point of focus.

Naruto stood alone for a moment, reflecting on everything that had just transpired. Life had a way of throwing chaos his way, but this time, it felt different. He wasn't just fighting for his own future or that of his partners. The balance of the entire world was in jeopardy, and he had a part to play in that. The weight of the responsibility felt heavy on his shoulders, but it was something he had to bear.

Life could never be completely peaceful, not for him. He had accepted that long ago. What mattered was how he walked the path ahead. He couldn't afford to falter, to stray from his mission. This time, he would not fall off the cliff.
