Chapter 195: Chapter 195: The Three-Year Pact
Bibi Dong looked at Mu Chen, stunned. She was caught off guard to find herself held in his embrace, and instinctively tried to push him away.
Thud!
Mu Chen raised his hand, gently catching her wrist. Holding her close, he couldn't help but marvel at how time seemed to have no effect on her. Despite being older, Bibi Dong's beauty was timeless, her skin soft and flawless, as if she were still in her twenties.
"Do you really want to keep fighting?" Mu Chen asked with a playful smirk. "Your spirit power is barely enough to use one more skill."
"Are you planning to humiliate me?" Bibi Dong's gaze was sharp, accusing.
To Bibi Dong, Mu Chen's behavior reminded her far too much of her teacher Qian Xunji, who had once betrayed her, searing a deep distrust of men into her heart.
Mu Chen's hand reached toward her, and, in her anger, Bibi Dong braced for another act of disrespect. Instead, he flicked her gently on the forehead.
"Eh?" Bibi Dong's gaze grew blank with surprise.
Then, Mu Chen let her go.
"Fool," he said with a gentle smile. "Even if I did want that, it would be only with your consent. A battle's a battle, but responsibility is something else." His voice was soft, yet firm.
"You stopped me just to tell me this?" Bibi Dong's expression softened, momentarily unsure.
"Not exactly. I do have a favor to ask," Mu Chen replied.
"Let's hear it," Bibi Dong said cautiously.
"I haven't decided yet. But when I do, I'll let you know," Mu Chen answered.
Bibi Dong narrowed her eyes, wary. "You're not planning something underhanded, are you?"
"Of course not," he reassured her.
Knowing Bibi Dong had killed Xiao Wu's mother to obtain a powerful spirit ring, Mu Chen hoped he might one day find a way to revive her. After all, in ten thousand years, soul spirits would become a reality—an evolved form of spirit beasts that retained their souls.
However, he realized Xiao Wu had never told him about her mother's fate. Bringing it up now could lead to difficult questions.
"Essentially, you're asking me to grant you a blank check, with no conditions. That's a bit much to ask, don't you think?" Bibi Dong replied, shaking her head.
"How about we make a wager?" Mu Chen suggested.
"Oh? You, a mere boy, want to bet with me?" Bibi Dong scoffed.
"What's wrong with that? You just lost to this 'boy' a moment ago," Mu Chen shot back.
Bibi Dong's smile stiffened, recalling the earlier humiliation.
"Or are you afraid of losing to a mere 'child'?" Mu Chen teased, using her own words to bait her.
"Me? Afraid of you?" Bibi Dong laughed. "Fine. What's your bet?"
"Your Spirit Hall is the strongest force on the continent, even the two great empires bow to you. But what if, in three years, I create an organization even stronger than Spirit Hall? If I succeed, you'll grant me that one favor I mentioned. If I fail, you win. How about it?" Mu Chen proposed.
"You think you can command the two empires?" Bibi Dong questioned.
"No, I won't rely on them. The question is… do you accept?" Mu Chen's gaze held a steady challenge.
Bibi Dong fell silent, calculating. She couldn't imagine what Mu Chen might want from her or Spirit Hall. Spirit rings? He was already a Title Douluo, and if he wanted a spirit bone, he had the strength to obtain it on his own.
And as for his wager—could he really build something more powerful than Spirit Hall in only three years, without support from either empire?
"Fine," Bibi Dong finally agreed. "As long as your request doesn't harm Spirit Hall's interests or… involve any indecent intentions toward me, I'll accept this wager."
"Good! Then let's shake on it!" Mu Chen extended his hand.
"If you're making a demand, I'll make one too," Bibi Dong said with a sly smile.
"Go ahead," Mu Chen replied.
"If you lose, you'll stay out of worldly affairs—no interfering with the continent's power struggles. That includes both Shrek Academy and your newly established Tang Sect," Bibi Dong stipulated.
Mu Chen hesitated. Bibi Dong's terms were clearly aimed at neutralizing the threat he posed to Spirit Hall's ambitions of continental dominance.
"It's only fair, wouldn't you say? You stand to gain a lot if you win, but I would get nothing if I didn't secure something in return," she said. Though she wished she could kill Mu Chen for the insult he had dealt her, she had no choice but to set her grudge aside, at least for now.
"All right. Let's seal the deal." Mu Chen nodded, holding out his hand.
With a faint smile, Bibi Dong extended her own, shaking his.
As she turned to leave, Mu Chen called out, "Leaving so soon?"
"What more could you want?" Bibi Dong turned to look at him.
"Consider this a parting gift." Mu Chen flicked his finger, sending a small object flying from his storage ring toward her.
She caught it—a book. She glanced at the c
over and, surprised, read the title aloud, "How to Be a Mother Your Child Will Love."
