Douluo Starting with the Chaos Divine Examination

Chapter 202: Chapter 202: Trouble Brewing in the Harem (Part Two)

"Just take it."

Mu Chen smiled, holding out the spirit core. "The maximum absorption limit for a spirit master's fifth ring is 12,000 years, and the sixth is 20,000. This core will grant you an 80,000-year spirit ring. You're currently at the Spirit Ancestor level. If both your fifth and sixth rings reach the 80,000-year threshold, you'll likely gain the external spirit bone you've been aiming for."

For a spirit master to obtain an external spirit bone, the spirit ring needed to exceed the conventional age limit. Any surplus energy within the ring could form an external spirit bone. However, it also demanded a strong body, as failure to withstand the energy could result in severe injury or even death.

Shui Bing'er nodded, accepting the core without hesitation.

"Bing'er, although your body is strong, I'd still suggest a trip to the Slaughter City. It would be safer to absorb the core's energy after acquiring the Killing God Domain," Mu Chen advised.

"The Slaughter City?" Shui Bing'er's expression shifted.

The legendary Slaughter City was known for its Hell Road, a perilous path that granted those who conquered it the powerful Killing God Domain. However, she knew the challenge was far from easy, and rumors warned that spirit abilities were disabled there, leaving only close combat and self-created techniques available.

"You must have a way to guarantee my safe passage through Hell Road, right?" Shui Bing'er asked, her sharp intuition on full display.

Mu Chen chuckled, tapping her nose playfully. "Smart as always."

With a flick of his wrist, Mu Chen produced a talisman marked with the word "Explosion."

"What's this?" Shui Bing'er asked.

"An explosive talisman. It only requires a small bit of spiritual power to activate it." Mu Chen held the talisman between his fingers, his hands quickly forming a seal. He then sent the talisman flying out the window.

"Detonate."

With a flash, the talisman exploded over the lake, sending a massive column of water fifty feet into the air.

Shui Bing'er's eyes widened in astonishment. "Such a strange and powerful tool…"

Mu Chen handed her a ring. "Inside this ring are ten thousand explosive talismans. These should be enough for you to win the title of Hell's Envoy in the Slaughter City's arena and access Hell Road. There's also an antidote for the slow poison in the Slaughter City's Yellow Springs Dew and a few hidden weapons you may find useful."

With a nod, Shui Bing'er slipped on the ring, feeling confident that she'd be able to conquer Hell Road with these new tools.

Mu Chen glanced at her. "Are you still mad at me?"

After a moment of silence, Shui Bing'er replied, "Only this once. Don't ever do it again."

Just then, Shui Yue'er, who had been eavesdropping outside, opened the door and entered with a grin. "Brother-in-law, since you've given my sister so many gifts, don't you think I deserve a little something, too?"

"Yue'er, don't say such things," Shui Bing'er said, her face flushing.

"Oh, I'm just teasing, but honestly, if you want me to keep this all under wraps, I'd say a gift is only fair!" Shui Yue'er replied, giving Mu Chen a mischievous smile.

"Fine," Mu Chen chuckled. "Since I can't accompany your sister to the Slaughter City, how about you go with her?" He tossed her another ring containing ten thousand explosive talismans.

"That's more like it." Yue'er smirked, admiring her ring with a satisfied gleam in her eyes.

Mu Chen turned back to Shui Bing'er. "I have a few things to handle, so I'll take my leave now." With a nod from Shui Bing'er, he vanished from the room.

"That brother-in-law of ours sure is generous!" Shui Yue'er said with admiration.

"Stop calling him that! We're not even…officially together," Shui Bing'er chided.

"Oh, come on, Sis. When are you going to finally marry him?" Shui Yue'er asked with a smirk.

"Why are you in such a rush to marry me off?" Shui Bing'er sighed.

"Of course I am! Think of the wedding gifts and the dowry—this brother-in-law of ours is loaded!" Yue'er replied with a laugh.

Near Tianshui Academy's accommodations was a volcano, where Blazing Academy's team was staying. Fire Dance stood by her window, startled by a familiar voice behind her.

"Did you miss me?"

She turned to see Mu Chen, who flashed a warm smile as he walked up to her. In response, Fire Dance moved closer, reaching out and giving him a firm pinch on his waist.

Mu Chen winced but didn't resist. After twenty seconds of her vented frustration, Fire Dance finally released him.

"I'm sorry. I…"

Before he could finish, Fire Dance placed a finger on his lips. "Don't apologize. You're my boyfriend. A man should stand his ground, not back down. That's the Mu Chen I fell for."

Touched by her understanding, Mu Chen pulled her into a tight embrace.

After a while, he released her and handed her a ring with the same supplies he'd given Shui Bing'er—explosive talismans, antidotes, and hidden weapons. He also promised her a spirit core in the future.

"Fire Dance, I have other matters to attend to. If you decide to head to the Slaughter City, you could go with Shui Bing'er and Shui Yue'er," he said.

"You've tamed both sisters already?" she teased.

"Of course not. Only Bing'er. Do I seem like that kind of guy?" Mu Chen replied with a playful smile.

She gave him a skeptical look that seemed to say, "Yes, you do."

"Give me your hand," Fire Dance suddenly said.

"Why?" Mu Chen asked, curious.

"Just do it."

Hesitantly, he extended his hand, and Fire Dance grabbed it, rolling up his sleeve. Then, with a mischievous grin, she bit down hard.

"Ouch!"

Mu Chen couldn't help but gasp in pain as she left a clear bite mark on his arm.

"No healing allowed. I want that mark to stay. Maybe it'll remind you not to take advantage of me in public again!" Fire Dance said with a satisfied smile.
