Douluo Starting with the Chaos Divine Examination

Chapter 201: Chapter 201: Trouble Brewing in the Harem (Part One)

After the All-Continent Advanced Spirit Master Academy Elite Tournament, Spirit Hall relocated the final matches to Spirit City. As a powerhouse rivaling the two great empires, Spirit Hall provided luxurious accommodations for the contestants from each academy, offering each team a private villa with an adjoining courtyard and careful consideration for their surroundings.

For example, Tianshui Academy's lodgings were by a serene lakeside, and Blazing Academy's location overlooked a volcano, enveloped in a warm atmosphere that suited their fiery spirits.

"What? Sis, are you serious? He has some technique that lets him boost his spirit power by… by acting indecently toward girls?" Shui Yue'er asked, her tone incredulous as she and Shui Bing'er sat alone in their quarters.

Shui Bing'er nodded, a slight flush rising on her cheeks. "That's what it seems like."

"And you said he behaved disrespectfully toward the Pope? You had the same expression as her… did he act that way with you, too?" Shui Yue'er asked, her shock evident.

Shui Bing'er's silence and reddening cheeks were all the answer Shui Yue'er needed.

"That's outrageous! How could he do that in front of everyone? Doesn't he have any sense of decency?" Shui Yue'er fumed on behalf of her sister.

"It wasn't exactly his choice. He was in a tight spot, and if he hadn't asserted himself, he couldn't have endured the consequences of losing to Spirit Hall's Grand Elder," Shui Bing'er reasoned, attempting to justify Mu Chen's actions.

"Even so, he crossed a line! He treated you like some—" Shui Yue'er's anger didn't subside.

"People with big ambitions can't afford to be held back by minor scruples," Shui Bing'er said, almost as if she were trying to convince herself not to hold a grudge.

"Honestly, it sounds like he'd go to any lengths to get his way. Are you sure you haven't developed feelings for him, Sis? You're going out of your way to defend him," Shui Yue'er teased, eyeing her sister.

"What? No, I'm just trying to see things from his perspective," Shui Bing'er replied, though her face turned an even deeper shade of red.

"Oh, right," Shui Yue'er quipped. "You're going to tell me you're not secretly hoping he proposes, hmm?"

At that moment, Shui Yue'er noticed her sister's expression change as she glanced behind her. Turning her head, Shui Yue'er's heart jumped as she saw Mu Chen silently standing right behind her.

"W-When did you get in here?" Shui Yue'er stammered, startled. "This is a girls' room, you know. Don't you realize it's rude to just barge in?"

In response, the air around Mu Chen rippled slightly as he vanished, only to knock on the door moments later.

When Shui Yue'er opened the door, she found him waiting outside with a polite smile. "Yue'er, is your sister in? May I come in to speak with her?"

Shui Yue'er couldn't help but laugh. "She's inside, but she says she doesn't want to see you. I can pass on a message if you want."

Mu Chen chuckled, lightly tapping her on the forehead. "Grown-ups are talking, Yue'er. Don't meddle."

"You're thirteen. I'm a year older than you!" Shui Yue'er replied, rubbing her head.

"May I come in?" Mu Chen asked again, this time more seriously.

"I don't want to see him!" Shui Bing'er's voice rang out, her tone laced with indignation.

Shui Yue'er gave Mu Chen a sympathetic smile. "Go ahead. I'll keep watch outside. She's upset, so try your best to make it up to her." She ushered him inside and then closed the door, leaving them alone.

As Mu Chen entered the room, he took in Shui Bing'er's elegant figure. She stood about five and a half feet tall, her physique graceful yet well-balanced. Her long blue hair cascaded over her shoulders, and her fair skin highlighted her delicate features. Though not a striking beauty at first glance, there was a subtle allure to her that captivated those who looked closely—a beauty that lingered in one's memory.

Shui Bing'er glanced at him, her expression a mix of frustration and hesitation. Only able to meet his gaze for a brief moment, she quickly turned her back on him. "Say whatever you came to say and then leave," she murmured.

"Are you still angry with me?" Mu Chen asked.

Shui Bing'er didn't respond.

Despite the logical justifications she had just voiced to her sister, as soon as she faced Mu Chen, she found herself unable to keep from feeling upset. But beyond that, she was uncomfortably aware of the faint sense of anticipation she had felt, hoping that he would come to see her.

"I admit what I did was wrong. I know words can't make up for it. But I can tell… that you care about me," Mu Chen said, watching her closely and sensing her emotions with his spirit energy.

Sure enough, he detected a subtle but unmistakable reaction. Even though her back was to him, her reddened ears were a clear giveaway.

Shui Bing'er chose to remain silent, neither confirming nor denying his words.

"To make it up to you, I promise I'll be responsible," Mu Chen continued. "Remember when I promised to help you obtain an external spirit bone? Here's a core that can grant you an eighty-thousand-year spirit ring." Mu Chen took a golden core from his storage, its glow illuminating the space between them.

"So this is what you call responsibility?" Shui Bing'er's eyes flashed with anger as she looked at him.

"No, this is just a gift. My promise is something more. When we're both of age, I'll go to your family to formally ask for your hand." He took her hand, his tone resolute.

"Who said I'd marry you?" Shui Bing'er's voice wavered, and she tried to pull her hand free.

"Then let's start with dating," Mu Chen said with a mischievous smile.

"Who… who said I'd be your girlfriend?" Shui Bing'er protested, but her attempts to break free were futile. In the end, the usually compose

d and steady Shui Bing'er had no choice but to let Mu Chen hold her hand.
