Chapter 265.2
Chapter 265.2. The Girl
Abandoning the seal, Sandalphon shifted his thoughts toward continuing the battle, gathering mana into his palm and directing it toward the girl.
The crystal, cracked and resembling a spider’s web, finally shattered with a loud crack, scattering into the air, and the girl appeared, having broken the seal. She floated in the air without ever touching the ground.
“You monster!”
[Creation of the Thunder Emperor’s Sword]
He conjured a sword of lightning, as thick as a pillar, in his hand, and Sandalphon took a defensive stance.
“This time, we fight with swords. I’ll summon something too.”
[Summon Durandal]
The girl raised her hand to the sky, and a golden magic circle appeared, shining brilliantly in the heavens, from which a sword of light descended. As the sword of light settled in her hand, a wave of mana exploded, radiating outward, and the wind rustled her clothes.
“It looks amazing, right? Such a flashy performance! Hmm, right now I’m a hero—no, a heroine. A heroine of justice. I’m so excited!”
It was a rough sword. Though translucent, it was clearly made of light crystal, with no special design—just a long sword with a simple blade and hilt. However, its divine presence was undeniable, and anyone who saw it would instantly sense the overwhelming power it contained.
The girl, holding the sword of light, swung it with excitement. With each swing, golden particles fluttered from the blade, showcasing its beauty.
“The indestructible holy sword Durandal. Its sharpness isn’t really that great, and it has no attack attributes… It’s actually a pretty disappointing weapon. You’d be happy to pull a legendary item, but then realize it’s just Durandal, and you’d be disappointed. Bummer weapon.”
The girl chuckled softly, shrugging her shoulders.
“So what will you do? My body is protected by [Sandalphon]’s skill.”
With his thunderous sword raised, Sandalphon glared at the tiny girl, no bigger than an ant compared to him, his expression stern and wary.
The girl stopped her swings at his words and pulled off her hood, smirking mockingly. When the hood came off, her gray hair peeked out—beautiful, semi-long hair that reached her shoulders.
“[Nioh] skill’s higher version. [Sandalphon], you’ve really thought this through, huh? The skill originally came from the concept of a giant body. Even if you transform into that giant, you can still use both combat and magic. It’s an invincible cheat skill. So cool—I’m so envious, clap clap.”
She grinned slyly, her eyes narrowing, now glowing with cold light.
“But that doesn’t matter to me. With Durandal, everything’s fine. No, nothing is a problem.”
Kicking off from the air, the girl charged toward Sandalphon. Sandalphon too readied his sword to meet her attack.
“One lethal strike, hmm, something Durandal!”
“You annoying brat!”
[Wind God Sword Dance]
[Thunder Emperor Sword Dance]
The girl’s hands disappeared in a blur. At super-high speed, her sword dance clashed against Sandalphon’s, who responded with his own sword dance. Shockwaves blasted through the air, as the two swords collided midair.
Both the girl and Sandalphon moved like dancers, swinging their swords in attempts to cut down their foe.
Though her sword should have been no bigger than a matchstick compared to Sandalphon’s blade, incredibly, the girl’s sword blocked the Thunder Emperor’s Sword, deflecting it.
Not only that, but it managed to slip past Sandalphon’s sword, leaving shallow cuts across his body.
“Your speed surpasses mine?! But that sword of yours—yeah, it really doesn’t have any power, huh? With that kind of attack, you’re only scratching my body lightly!”
“Yeah, Durandal is a disappointing weapon, sure. For anyone else, anyway. But, you know…”
As she continued to quickly move around Sandalphon, slashing fiercely, she laughed softly.
“The angel who keeps setting up death flags. Good job, though.”
The girl quickly channeled mana into her sword and exhaled lightly, lowering her stance as she whispered.
“I’ll go now.”
[High Accelerator]
Leaving an afterimage, the girl’s form vanished.
[Counter Accelerator]
However, Sandalphon had already anticipated that his opponent would use an acceleration skill. As soon as [Accelerator] was activated, his own [Accelerator] triggered automatically as part of his hidden combat technique.
Though it didn’t match [High Accelerator] in speed, his endurance far outstripped hers. As he defended with his skill, he waited for [High Accelerator] to expire, holding his sword horizontally.
[Thunder Lightning Defense Sword]
A barrier of lightning surrounded Sandalphon’s body. He hoped to buy time with this, as he searched for the girl.
“This is the end. Heh.”
The girl, having appeared above him, swung her sword downward, laughing. Though her demeanor was playful, the power emanating from her sword made Sandalphon’s body tremble.
[Fairy Sword Slash]
With a single downward strike, the girl’s sword emitted a streak of light that passed through Sandalphon. It pierced his lightning defense, racing across his body like a glowing line.
“What?!”
As Sandalphon’s shocked voice rang out, his torso was sliced in half and fell to the ground.
The giant angel’s body collapsed with a heavy crash, kicking up dust, while the girl lightly landed on the ground.
“The fairy sword is a fae blade. It doesn’t cut anything, but it cuts what it wants to cut. …Wait, did I get that wrong? Did I mess it up?”
She stuck her tongue out playfully and, with a blooming smile, looked at the Durandal in her hand. The blade was cracked and on the verge of breaking, but as she looked at it, the cracks slowly vanished, as if time were rewinding, and the sword returned to its pristine state.
“Durandal has an indestructible attribute. There’s no sword more fitting for me. It’s a cheat weapon, truly.”
The girl’s joyful laughter echoed through the forest, signaling the end of the battle. Sandalphon’s death marked the girl’s victory.
