Chapter 266.1
Chapter 266.1. Rampage Resumed
The girl gave Durandal a single swing, then casually tossed it away as if it were nothing. Durandal disappeared as if melting into the air, signaling that it was stored away. In the blood of the slain Sandalphon, which had turned the ground into a swamp, she twirled gleefully with a radiant smile.
“Did you see? Did you see, Master? Did you watch my amazing moves? Were you mesmerized? Oh, but any more will cost you extra! Just kidding, ehe~.”
With a chuckle, she hid her mouth with a hand concealed in her sleeve. She laughed joyously, skipping lightly as she spread her arms and danced.
[NO ISSUES WITH PERFORMANCE]
“Now, now, this is where you’re supposed to say, ‘Well done!’ and praise me! Pat my head, and I’ll blush adorably, you know?”
Feigning dissatisfaction, she pouted as she glanced at a writhing, slimy hunk of flesh that had somehow appeared amidst the fallen trees.
[REFERENCE MADE TO THE STRONGEST OBSERVED SUBJECT]
The fleshy mass extended tentacles that swayed gently in response.
“I’m looking forward to meeting Big Sis. But more importantly, this angel was such a weakling, wasn’t he?”
The girl crouched down, gathering the scattered Element Cores from Sandalphon. Before long, a pile of Element Cores formed like a small mountain. Pretending to wipe away sweat she hadn’t shed, she turned her gaze to the fleshy mass.
“Are we really going to use these like this?”
[FOR CONTINUING SUBJECT OBSERVATION]
“I think testing things like this is dangerous, but if it’s Master’s orders, oh well.”
She extended her hand toward the pile of Element Cores, channeling mana into them. The cores began to glow brilliantly, illuminating the surroundings.
“My name… my name… Master, what should my name be? I’d prefer something cute, of course.”
[CHOOSE AS YOU WISH]
“Your indifference to creations like this is bound to breed betrayal, you know. Hmm… what should I pick~?”
Tilting her head to one side, she placed a hand on her chin, pretending to ponder. Then, as if reaching a decision, she straightened up and declared:
“My name is Tear. Tear Drop. Too lazy? Oh, well, it works, doesn’t it?”
Giving a thumbs-up with a bright smile, Tear beamed. The fleshy mass swayed lightly, offering a curt reply.
[CHOOSE AS YOU WISH]
“You’re so cruel! Can’t you show a bit more interest? I’m such an adorable servant, after all. By the way, what’s Master’s gender?”
Leaning forward provocatively, she wiggled with a mischievous grin as she asked.
[LEAVE THIS TO YOU; I WILL OBSERVE ANOTHER]
The fleshy mass ignored her question and dissolved away. Clicking her tongue, Tear extended her hand to the Element Cores again.
“Oh well, work time, I guess. Time to do my job.”
She infused the pile with massive amounts of mana, smiling innocently as she spoke.
“In the name of Tear Drop, appear! For the sake of creating a new order under my Master’s name… wait, what is Master’s name? I might forget this chant. Oh well, here goes! Dungeon, be born to cleanse this world!”
Giggling as she continued, Tear poured even more mana into the cores. The Element Cores glowed ever brighter, creating a pillar of light reaching the heavens.
“I won’t settle for a measly B-rank, you know. Enjoy battles that are thrilling and exciting!”
Illuminated by the light, Tear murmured as she disappeared into it.
“Amano Sakimori. I can’t wait to meet you. Hehe~.”
Her voice, light and bell-like, echoed softly as she vanished.
The command center at Hakata City was in chaos. Though there were no windows, fluorescent lights illuminated the room, where people rushed about, shouting and adding to the confusion.
“What is going on here? Report the situation immediately!”
Colonel Marume issued calm directives to panicked soldiers in the command room. His composed demeanor steadied the frantic staff, and the operators began compiling updates to provide a report.
“A sudden pillar of light appeared 65 kilometers southwest of here. After it dissipated, a massive fortress spanning several square kilometers emerged. We sent a helicopter for reconnaissance, but numerous monsters emerged. The helicopter was shot down, but its footage was transmitted. Displaying now.”
On the large monitor in the command room, footage from the helicopter appeared. The fortress, built of concrete and resembling a wartime structure, came into view. It was enormous, with 100-meter-high walls and an even taller central keep. Its stark, brutal design exuded a sense of overwhelming intimidation.
Colonel Marume frowned as he studied the footage, and the soldiers around him gasped in astonishment.
“What on earth is that?”
“A stampede… could it be?”
The screen showed a horde of monsters. They resembled species seen recently, such as Volcano Lizards, Salamanders, Poison Kompies, and Armored Triceratops.
But they seemed subtly different—colors, horn patterns, and other traits stood out.
Moreover, they moved in orderly ranks, marching in formation— behavior impossible for typical monsters.
“Could it be… higher-ranked variants? Are they all upper-class?”
“Ridiculous! That can’t be possible!”
“An entire horde of monsters was created?”
“And they’re moving like a disciplined army!”
The realization dawned on them. These were no ordinary creatures. The monsters had traits indicating they were of a higher rank.
“This is Recon Heli Alpha-One. We’re circling to assess enemy numbers.”
The footage shook as the helicopter maneuvered. The pilot, determined to understand the situation, continued capturing footage while closing in on the fortress.
But approaching carelessly was a fatal mistake. The pilot assumed no anti-air threats existed based on prior observations. As the helicopter neared, a voice from the cockpit cried out in shock.
“That’s… Behemoth! There’s a Behemoth down there! Behemoth confirmed!”
