Entertainment King:I Can Extract Skills from the Movies

Chapter 24: Chapter 24: Feeling the Itch?

Du Sheng's new role as an action consultant had drawn quite a bit of chatter among the cast and crew.

After all, this position was typically reserved for experienced veterans in the industry, and it was unusual for a newcomer to take on such a responsibility.

Even Zhang Zhizong, who arrived briefly to check on the production, was surprised to hear that Zhao Jian had given such a role to a rookie.

However, Zhang's attention was primarily on the development and promotion of the newly constructed film studio, a billion-yuan project. His priority was ensuring it turned a profit, so he had little energy to micromanage the production.

Additionally, the relentless attention from the media left him with little peace of mind, so he opted to steer clear of the drama.

This hands-off approach wasn't much different from what had happened in the past. According to Zhou Yaowen, Zhang Zhizong was so consumed with managing tourism and real estate projects in Yunfu and Yongkang that he rarely checked in on productions, only showing up toward the end to assert his authority.

---

On the fourth day, Yuan Bin finally arrived with his team.

This gave Du Sheng some much-needed relief, as his additional responsibilities wouldn't affect the pay raise he'd earned.

However, as fate would have it, trouble found its way to him regardless.

---

"That guy's really something? Hard to believe."

"Everyone talks big. I could say I beat Tyson, too."

"If it weren't for Hong Kong's movie market crashing, who'd want to come to a place like this?"

As Du Sheng sat down for lunch, murmurs in Cantonese floated over from Yuan Bin's team. Though most of the cast couldn't understand, their occasional glances at Du Sheng made their disdain evident.

A few muttered comments suggested skepticism about Du Sheng's reputation for fighting off multiple attackers, his appointment as an action consultant, and his supposed martial arts expertise.

Sitting nearby, Liu Tao noticed the tension and leaned over to Du Sheng, speaking in a low voice:

"Don't pay them any mind. They're just rough types with a blunt way of speaking."

Having spent years in Guangdong, Liu Tao understood Cantonese well and recognized the prejudice some Hong Kongers held toward mainlanders.

Du Sheng hadn't intended to escalate matters. After all, there would always be disrespectful individuals in any group. However, one of the younger martial artists, a tall, muscular man, seemed particularly intrigued.

His name was Ma Yaowei, and he approached Du Sheng with an eager grin.

"I hear you're pretty skilled. Care to spar a bit?"

His tone was challenging yet playful, and his imposing stature only added to the tension in the room.

Before Du Sheng could respond, Yuan Bin spoke up in accented Mandarin, clearly addressing Ma Yaowei:

"Don't cause trouble. Not everyone's a martial arts enthusiast like you."

Though Yuan Bin's words were meant to diffuse the situation, Ma Yaowei wasn't deterred.

"Come on, Uncle Bin! You and the others won't spar with me, and my hands are itching for action."

Seeing no harm in letting the young man blow off some steam, Yuan Bin relented, nodding slightly.

Zhao Jian and Qu Jueliang, both seated nearby, exchanged knowing smiles. They had confidence in Du Sheng's abilities and saw this as an opportunity to humble the brash newcomers.

Ma Yaowei stood before Du Sheng, issuing his challenge directly.

"Well? How about it?"

The dining hall buzzed with curiosity as the other cast members gathered to watch. Even Liu Yifei and Wang Yi put down their utensils, their expressions tinged with worry.

Sitting calmly, Du Sheng took his time wiping his mouth before glancing at Ma Yaowei.

"And how would you like to do this?"

To everyone's surprise, Du Sheng spoke in fluent Cantonese, catching both Ma Yaowei and the crowd off guard.

Ma Yaowei, slightly startled, sized him up again.

"I heard you're good at hand-to-hand combat. Let's just use our fists and keep it simple—perfect for digesting lunch!"

Despite his casual tone, Ma Yaowei wasn't reckless. He had trained in martial arts for seven years, and while he had earned some recognition, he still struggled to make a name for himself. This sparring match could be his chance to shine.

Du Sheng's gaze shifted past Ma Yaowei to two particularly vocal members of Yuan Bin's team. His silence spoke volumes, and Ma Yaowei quickly understood the implication.

Those two had been the most disrespectful earlier, and Du Sheng was clearly setting a condition: they needed to apologize.

After a moment of hesitation, Ma Yaowei leaned toward Yuan Bin and whispered a few words. Yuan Bin gave a small nod, and the two troublemakers reluctantly stepped forward, their faces filled with unease.

Ma Yaowei turned back to Du Sheng with a grin.

"Now, are we good to go?"

Du Sheng stood up slowly, his movements deliberate. His calm demeanor exuded confidence, sending a ripple of anticipation through the crowd.

"Let's take this outside," he said, his voice steady and unflinching.

The dining hall erupted into a flurry of activity as everyone scrambled to follow them outside. The air was thick

with excitement as the stage was set for what promised to be a memorable confrontation.
