Entertainment King:I Can Extract Skills from the Movies

Chapter 40: Chapter 40: Wild Couple

That afternoon, the investor arrived and, after some discussions, managed to suppress the escalating tension on set.

Before leaving, perhaps because Ju Jueliang had mentioned Du Sheng to her, Zhong Zhen turned to look at him. After a brief moment of thought, she walked over and invited him aside for a chat.

"I'm planning to establish a production company under Zhongyao Films," she began straightforwardly after sitting down. "Director Ju will helm adaptations of Wen Ruian's works like The Four Great Constables and A Tale of the Wandering Knight. Once things stabilize, we'll expand into film. If you join us, you'll be given priority consideration for roles."

Zhong Zhen had heard of Du Sheng's rising reputation in the industry. His acting skills, martial arts prowess, and experience as an action director had made him a hot topic. Companies like Huayi and Tangren had already reached out to him.

Now that Zhong Zhen saw his rapid ascent, she knew the time to act was now. She couldn't afford to let such talent slip away, especially given her fledgling company's limited resources. Instead of competing for established stars, she decided to cultivate her own core team, with Du Sheng as a potential cornerstone.

"Do you think I should focus on martial arts films?" Du Sheng asked, maintaining a neutral tone as he observed her calm and confident demeanor.

Zhong Zhen appeared composed and poised. Around 27 or 28 years old, she stood at least 1.7 meters tall in her heels. Dressed in a light-colored business suit, her presence radiated elegance and authority.

Given her multi-million-dollar inheritance and her family's position among the top 500 wealthiest individuals in the country, her confidence was well-earned.

Du Sheng had jokingly mentioned finding a "rich wife" to Wang Yaoyang before, and Zhong Zhen had certainly caught his attention. He'd done his homework—her family had transitioned from the video and VCD business into industries like film production, e-commerce, dining, and manufacturing.

And, notably, she was an only child.

It was just a pity she seemed disinterested in relationships, at least for now.

Zhong Zhen sipped her coffee nonchalantly, unfazed by his probing gaze. "The path you've chosen is already promising. Your strengths lie in your martial arts skills and appearance. There's a growing demand for action stars in the domestic film industry, but among the younger generation, very few can truly take the lead. If you stay committed, you'll carve out a place for yourself sooner or later."

In Hollywood, the highest-paid actors were often action stars. Names like Sylvester Stallone, Tom Cruise, and Jason Statham had gained international fame through action films.

The domestic market was no different. Jackie Chan and Jet Li had captured audiences with their fearless dedication to martial arts roles, but younger talent capable of following in their footsteps was scarce.

"In the younger generation, the most promising martial artists are Zhao Wenzhuo, Wu Yue, and Wu Jing," Zhong Zhen continued, her industry insight evident.

"While Wu Yue has solid skills, his looks limit his potential as a lead. Zhao Wenzhuo has the makings of an action star, but he's overshadowed by Jet Li and faces limited opportunities for breakout roles. As for Wu Jing, his situation is similar to Zhao Wenzhuo's—without significant changes, he might fare even worse in the future."

Du Sheng nodded subtly, impressed by her analysis. She clearly had a keen eye for talent and a deep understanding of the industry.

"Your case is different," Zhong Zhen said, her confidence unwavering. "Your age places you in a unique position with little direct competition. Your appearance is striking, and your martial arts skills are exceptional, offering unlimited possibilities. With enough effort, I'm confident you can become the next Jet Li!"

While Zhong Zhen painted an ambitious picture, Du Sheng remained unfazed. He knew such promises were common in the entertainment industry, where everyone aspired to stardom but few achieved it.

His goal wasn't to chase fame for its own sake. He was in it for the unique opportunities and rewards tied to his "lottery system."

This pragmatic approach had led him to decline offers from Huayi and Tangren before. The contracts they proposed were restrictive, and unless he became a partner or held equity, he saw little incentive to be tied down.

Of course, such thoughts were better left unsaid.

Zhong Zhen's sincerity, combined with his need to maintain relationships with Ju Jueliang and Snow Goddess Dragon, meant he had to handle the situation diplomatically. After all, fostering goodwill with her could open doors in the future.

By the end of their conversation, they parted on good terms, leaving Zhong Zhen seemingly satisfied.

The dynamics on the Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils set shifted noticeably after Zhong Zhen's visit.

Zhou Yaowen, perhaps realizing he couldn't win against Zhang Zhizong, became noticeably quieter. With Zhang's increased involvement, several scenes were left unsatisfactory, dragging the shoot late into the night.

On one such evening, with the crew camping out on the mountainside, Du Sheng found himself uncomfortably restless.

Having grown used to falling asleep beside someone soft and warm, the cold, hard ground made it impossible for him to settle. Thoughts of Liu Tao and Fan Bingbing crept into his mind as he lay awake.

Unable to sleep, he decided to take a walk and soak in the serene beauty of Licheng under the moonlight.

The full moon hung high, and a gentle breeze rustled through the trees.

But after only a few hundred meters, he paused, his expression turning peculiar.

His heightened senses, honed by his martial arts practice, picked up on unusual sounds nearby.

"Is that… wild passion?"

Curiosity piqued, Du Sheng quietly followed the faint rustling and suggestive noises.

Under the soft moonlight, he spotted two bare figures tangled in the bushes. His eyes widened slightly.

"Damn! Married folks can still be this wild?"

He chuckled inwardly. Truly eye-opening!
