Chapter 346: Who is the Emperor? Part 1
Coming out of the ancient temple, Su Yen was still trying to comprehend what he had just learned from the Space Eating Spider.
The Path to Immortality.
Apart from that, the thought that they were all living inside an encampment was a lot to process.
Right behind him was Wu Bin, with a lifeless expression on her face. Previously, she thought Su Yen battling the Space Eating Spider would mean his end, but who would have expected he would not only return alive but also subdue the Space Eating Spider?
This made her realize this young man was unlike any other man that had existed since the creation of their city.
As for her, she underwent the greatest torture of her life. She thought she could escape, but who would believe that was a pipe dream?
The mere sight of Su Yen's backside gave her goosebumps, and a sense of helplessness came from the depth of her soul.
Against such a man, she knew she was nothing but an ant in his presence, and her sole existence depended on this young man's decision.
Su Yen returned to the floating palace and sat on his throne, lost in thought.
Just as he was lost in thought, Patriarch Li entered the hall with a face full of respect and slight apprehension.
"Your Majesty, the first batch of the Space Crystal Stone has arrived," he announced respectfully.
"Hmm… Good." Su Yen nodded and stared at him for a couple of seconds before asking, "Are you part of the clan sacrificing humans to the beasts?"
Feeling Su Yen's cold, piercing gaze on his body, Patriarch Li shivered and fell to his knees.
"Your Majesty…" he cried, his forehead touching the pristine floor.
"My family was not part of the human sacrifice. My family was part of the families that opposed it," he added quickly.
He knew if he did not give a satisfactory response, he should forget about leaving the hall in one piece.
With his forehead touching the cold, hard floor, his back was drenched in cold sweat as the deafening silence permeated the air.
Each second stretched like eternity, pushing him to the brink of losing his consciousness from nervousness.
"I believe you…." Su Yen announced.
When Patriarch Li heard this, a sigh of relief escaped from his mouth, and the heavy pounding of his heart began to return to normal.
"Thank you, Your Majesty, for believing the words of this servant."
"Relay my command: all those families that partook in this inhumane action must be killed at the city square."
Hmm!
Patriarch Li sucked in a cold breath when he heard Su Yen's ruthless command.
Even though Su Yen was ruthless, he was not in any position to refuse unless he wanted to die with them.
Paying his respects, he left the hall, and shortly after, the news spread throughout the city.
Blue Crystal City had been hanging by a thin thread from falling into chaos since Su Yen took over the city and captured all the clans that treated humans like animals.
But now, the thin thread finally broke when the news about the destruction of many clans spread at the same time.
In the outer part of the city, many gangs affiliated with the powerful clans caused riots.
The scholars and merchants also closed their stores, demanding Su Yen leave their city.
The scholars said the actions of those clans were for the safety of their city since they were weaker than the beasts, and it was justified to sacrifice such slaves for the betterment of their city.
Since the city rarely had any visitors except for those that appeared on the spatial transmission stage, the city had less than a hundred guards.
Against so many clans with rich influence in the city, the guards became useless.
Moreover, some of the guards were affiliated with these clans.
"Do you know what you're doing?" Patriarch Li shouted, pointing at the guards' commander.
"Patriarch Li, we've all known that your family betrayed us. But from now on, we won't allow you to continue your nefarious actions," the sturdy guard commander said.
Standing in the center of the outer city, a crowd of people had gathered around them, watching the show.
"Are you refusing the command of His Majesty, The Great?" Patriarch Li asked.
"Yes… What can he do?" he scoffed. "This belongs to us, not to some slave. Besides, he's not my king, so stop your charade and surrender."
HAHAHA!
Patriarch Li burst into hysterical laughter, which made the crowd wonder what was so funny.
"What's wrong with him?"
"Is he going nuts?"
The guard commander squinted his brow and looked at Patriarch Li but did not care why he was laughing and commanded his men to capture him.
To everyone's shock, he surrendered willingly. With a baffled expression, the guard commander looked at Patriarch Li and asked, "Why don't you fight back?" Your next journey awaits at empire
"Fight back? You don't know what you've gotten yourself into. I hope you and your family are prepared for what is about to happen."
His words left everyone confused, but the guard commander recovered quickly.
"Shut up. Lies. What can happen to us?"
With that, he led his men back to their barracks. However, Patriarch Li's words resounded in their minds.
Nevertheless, the chaos continued with many buildings set ablaze, and with Patriarch Li captured and the guards failing in their job, the city was in flames.
Inside the Sun clan mansion, Patriarch Sun sat with a pensive expression on his face.
Standing before him were his wives, elders, and children.
"Father, is he that fearful?" his eldest son demanded in confusion.
Pa!
A resounding slap echoed in the hall, and a silhouette was sent flying back, crashing into the wall.
"When you address His Majesty, The Great, you must be respectful," he berated with a cold voice.
Gasp.
Everyone inside the hall was stunned when they saw their patriarch react fiercely, slapping his first son.
Just as the patriarch wanted to give his clansmen a lecture of their lives, a voice drifted to his ear.
"Don't worry, I won't kill him."
When Patriarch Sun heard the voice, all the hairs on his body stood up straight, and without hesitating, he fell to his knees.
"I need you to choose one thousand young people between the ages of 20 and 30. Train them; they will be the future guards of this city."
"Yes, Your Majesty," Patriarch Sun responded in a loud voice, his voice filled with respect.
