Chapter 14: The Banished Young Girl Fights Head On

“Bound them!”

“Yes!”

The villagers continued to take down the goblins I had bound with my magic.

How many times has it been now? No, maybe it’s been hundreds.

Despite the endless repetition, the number of goblins showed no sign of decreasing.

“Gigi.”

“Gyagya!”

“Gigyagya!”

Ah, they’re coming again! What’s happening!?

I bound the incoming goblins once more.

“Huff, huff, huff… Will!”

“Yes!”

“Uoooh!”

Even though they were doing their best, the villagers looked exhausted.

And more importantly… I was incredibly sleepy. I was so tired I could barely keep my eyes open.

Even though I was twenty-six inside, my body was that of an eight-year-old child.

My overworked body was demanding sleep, but…

Ah, what should I do? The goblins aren’t decreasing at all.

The skeletons I had summoned from the fields were fighting as well, but there were just too many goblins for them to handle.

Ahhh! If only I had fortified the village’s defenses first!

“Bound them!”

“Y-yes!”

I bound the next set of goblins, and Will and the others began to take them down.

Then, suddenly—

The forest lit up brightly, and a ball of light the size of a soccer ball shot towards us at an incredible speed.

“Huh?”

The ball of light struck the ground behind the goblins Will and the others were fighting

Boom!

There was a massive explosion.

“Kyaa!?”

“Whoa!?”

“Gaaah!”

“Gegii!?”

I felt my body lift slightly before I found myself lying on the ground.

“Ugh… What?”

Enduring the throbbing pain all over my body, I managed to lift my head and assess the situation.

It seemed I hadn’t been thrown far from my original position.

The goblins around the impact zone had been turned into minced meat. But unfortunately, goblins were still pouring out of the forest.

Where is everyone!?

“Guh…”

“W-what was…?”

I could hear Will and the others, but their voices were strained.

But thankfully, it seemed they weren’t dead.

Then, out of nowhere, the goblins parted as if clearing a path, and a slightly larger goblin walked towards us.

It was wearing a robe like a wizard and held a conspicuous staff.

Could it be… a Goblin Mage!?

“Gigi.”

The goblin mage raised its staff high into the air. A small ball of light appeared at about three meters above the ground, gradually growing larger until it matched the size of the previous ball.

And then

“Gii!”

The goblin mage swung its staff down and pointed directly at Will, who was lying face down. The ball of light shot towards Will at an incredible speed.

“Will! Dodge!”

“Gah! Dammit!”

Will tried to move, but he couldn’t budge from where he was!

Boom!

The ball of light exploded, and I heard Will’s agonized voice.

“Willllll! How dare you!”

I struggled to my feet and reached out to bind the Goblin Mage’s soul.

“Eh…?”

Why? I can’t bind it!?

“Gigi? Gigi-gigi-gigi!”

Noticing my magic, the Goblin Mage looked at me and grinned with a disgusting smile.

“Gigi. Gigi, gigi.”

Is it… saying something to me?

“Gigi!”

It grinned again! So creepy!

No! No! No, no, no!

“Gigi-gigi.”

The Goblin Mage raised its staff high again. Another small ball of light appeared in the air, growing larger by the second.

What do I do? Am I going to be killed here?

I had just regained my healthy body and wanted to live freely…

As the worst scenario flashed through my mind, I noticed a goblin corpse lying at the Goblin Mage’s feet.

Could it be…?

While I hesitated, the ball of light continued to grow.

Ah! Enough! I have to do something!

I quickly released dark magic and cast zombie transformation on the goblin corpse at the Goblin Mage’s feet.

“Kill that Goblin Mage!”

The goblin zombie that rose behind the Goblin Mage attacked it from behind.

“Gegi!? Gigi! Gigi!”

The panicked Goblin Mage tried to pry the zombie away, but the size difference between a Goblin Mage and a regular zombie goblin was minimal.

The zombie goblin bit into the Goblin Mage’s neck, and then…

Boom!

The ball of light above the Goblin Mage exploded uncontrollably.

“Ugh…”

I knelt to avoid being thrown and shielded myself from the gust of wind.

When the blast subsided, I saw the mangled corpse of the Goblin Mage. The goblin Mage was also in pieces, but since zombies don’t die easily, its dismembered parts continued to move, which was extremely unsettling.

The goblins that had entered the village were also caught in the explosion. The area was cleared of goblins, and the remaining ones seemed to be in disarray.

“Gii!?”

“Gigi-gigi!”

“Gegyaa!”

The goblins looked at each other, fearfully glancing at me.

Huh? Could it be…?

I bound all the frightened goblins. In such a state, their resistance dropped significantly, so I could manage even with my limited magical energy.

“Skeletons! Take down the goblins!”

As I shouted, the nearby skeletons attacked the immobilized goblins.

“Gegii!”

“Gyaa!”

“Gigyagya!”

Seeing this, the goblins fled the village in a panic.

Thank goodness. It was a bluff, but it seems they fell for it.

Now, I need to do something about the goblins still in the village…

But… it’s really, truly…

My consciousness was fading.

No, no! I can’t collapse here…

But my vision darkened…

“Lady! My Lady!”

Amidst my fading consciousness, I thought I heard Marie’s distant voice calling out to me.
