Fate/Eclipsed Stars (Project Moon/Fate Grand Order)

Chapter 12: Chapter 6: The Dragon’s Call

The air in the darkened cathedral was thick with malice, a stark contrast to the sacred halls it once represented. Jeanne d'Arc Alter stood at the center of the summoning circle, her corrupted armor glinting faintly in the candlelight. Her silver hair cascaded over her shoulders, framing her face twisted with vengeful glee. Gilles de Rais stood beside her, his manic devotion evident in the wild glint of his eyes as he eagerly watched his beloved Jeanne prepare the summoning ritual.

A sinister energy swirled within the summoning circle, warping the faint light into ominous shadows. Jeanne raised her hand, her voice dripping with venom as she intoned the incantation.

"By my hatred and the fire that consumed me, I call forth servants who will share my wrath. Come forth, those who will aid me in razing this cursed land!"

The magic reached a fever pitch, a blinding light filling the room before exploding outward. As the light faded, seven figures emerged, their forms obscured by the dissipating glow. Jeanne's expression twisted into a sinister smile as she surveyed the figures before her.

First stood Atalanta, her lithe figure adorned in green and gold. Her feline ears twitched as her piercing eyes assessed the room. "A call for vengeance?" she murmured, her voice tinged with disdain.

Beside her was Chevalier d'Eon, their androgynous features calm and calculating. They placed a hand on their rapier and bowed slightly. "Your will is mine to enact, my master," they said, their tone guarded but respectful.

To their right was Saint Martha, her purple hair cascading over her armored shoulders. She carried herself with a serene grace, but her eyes held a flicker of unease as she glanced at Jeanne. "Your summon binds me to you. I only hope my strength will serve a higher purpose," she said softly, though her tone betrayed doubt.

Carmilla, adorned in her elegant black dress and mask, stood with an air of cruel elegance. She chuckled darkly, her voice laced with malice. "To burn and destroy? A fitting pastime for one such as me. Your cause amuses me, for now."

Vlad III, the infamous Impaler, loomed behind them, his crimson cloak billowing ominously. His dark eyes met Jeanne's, and he gave a slow, approving nod. "Your hatred mirrors my own. Let the fires of war consume those who stand in your way," he growled.

The hulking form of Fafnir, the dragon that once terrified legends, emerged last. Its massive wings folded as it roared, shaking the very foundations of the cathedral. Jeanne's laughter echoed as she gazed upon the destructive beast.

Finally, there was Kromer. The One Who Grips strode forward with an unsettling confidence, her bloodstained inquisitor's uniform a stark contrast to her unsettlingly beautiful silver hair and piercing yellow eyes. She smiled—a smile that promised nothing but suffering—as her gaze swept over Jeanne. "To burn heresy and purify this land in flame? A calling I know all too well. Tell me, saint of vengeance, where shall we begin our cleansing?"

Jeanne stepped forward, her voice commanding as she addressed her summoned servants. "You have answered my call. I am your master, Jeanne d'Arc. Together, we shall bring France to its knees for its betrayal. Together, we will burn it to the ground!"

Gilles de Rais, unable to contain his fervor, stepped beside her, bowing deeply. "My holy saint, your justice shall rain upon this land! Your enemies will be ash beneath your feet. What would you have me do?"

Jeanne's gaze darkened. "Bring me the bishop who condemned me. He will be the first to know my wrath."

Gilles, his devotion unwavering, nodded eagerly. "At once, my holy saint. Your justice shall be done."

Moments later, the bishop was dragged into the cathedral, his trembling form barely able to stand as Gilles shoved him forward. His face turned pale as his eyes fell on Jeanne, his voice shaking as he stammered, "No… it cannot be. You were burned at the stake! This is heresy… a demon in the guise of a saint!"

30 MAY 1431 A MAIDEN WAS EXECUTED

Jeanne's laughter rang out, cold and hollow. "Heresy? You speak of heresy to me, who was betrayed and cast into the flames by you cowards? Spare me your hypocrisy, old man. You sentenced me to burn. Now, you will meet the same fate."

The bishop fell to his knees, his hands clasped in a desperate prayer. "Mercy, please… I acted only to protect the Church, to protect France!"

"You protected nothing," Jeanne spat, her voice venomous. "You were a coward then, and you are a coward now."

Kromer stepped forward, her unsettling smile growing wider. "Ah, the pleas of the damned. Do they not sing to you, my saint? Shall we grant him salvation through the purity of fire?"

Nodding to Kromer suggestion, Jeanne raised her hand, and a torrent of black flames erupted, engulfing the bishop. His screams filled the room as the flames consumed him, leaving nothing but ash. Jeanne stood tall, she cackle loudly, as she turned to her summoned servants.

THE GIRL NAME WAS

Jeanne turned to her servants, her voice ringing with dark authority. "France has betrayed me. Burn it to the ground. Leave no stone unturned, no soul unjudged. Let the flames of my vengeance consume all!"

Kromer let out a delighted laugh, her silver hair glinting in the flickering light. "As you command, my saint. Heretics and sinners alike shall feel the weight of our cleansing fire."

"France will burn for its sins! Leave no stone unturned, no soul unjudged. Burn it to the ground!"

JEANNE D'ARC

The servants, bowed their heads or roared in affirmation. Jeanne's laughter filled the cathedral once more, her vengeful spirit spreading through the air like a plague.

The True Hundred Years War Will Become The Wicked Dragon Witch Hundred Years Wars

The dark crusade had begun.

The transfer process completed in a flash of light, leaving the group sprawled on a grassy field. The disorienting sensation of Spiritron travel lingered as Ritsuka groaned and sat up, brushing loose grass from their coat. Mash, already on her feet, extended a hand to help him up.

"Senpai, are you okay?" Mash asked, concern evident in her voice.

"I'm fine," Ritsuka replied, shaking off the residual dizziness. They glanced around at their surroundings. "But… where are we?"

Cu Chulainn and Medusa were the first to rise, their movements practiced and alert. Cu sniffed the air, his sharp senses taking in the unfamiliar atmosphere. "Definitely France," he muttered. "But something's wrong—this place stinks of unease."

Medusa, her blindfold obscuring her expression, nodded slightly. "The land… feels corrupted."

Nearby, Hong Lu stretched lazily, a smirk tugging at his lips. "A grassy field and no immediate sight of bloodfiends? What a refreshing change. Almost feels like I'm on vacation."

Der Freischütz was already standing, her posture rigid as her cold gaze swept the horizon. "This land carries despair. The weight of it lingers… heavy."

Angela rose silently, brushing nonexistent dirt from her pristine attire. She said nothing, her yellow eyes fixed on the unfamiliar landscape.

Before anyone could speak further, a small white blur darted across Mash breasts, bounding toward Ritsuka.

"Fou!" Mash exclaimed, startled as the creature leaped into Ritsuka arms.

"Fou fou!" the small animal barked happily, its fluffy white fur shining in the sunlight.

Ritsuka blinked, his confusion evident. "Wait… Fou? How did you get here?"

Fou then jumped to Mash and nuzzled against Mash's chest, letting out a soft "kyu" in response.

Mash looked equally bewildered but held Fou close, her surprise fading into a small smile. "I don't know how he slipped in, but it's good to see you, Fou."

Angela's eyes narrowed slightly as she regarded the creature. "Is that… a pet?"

"Fou is a privilage lifeform in Chaldea" Mash explained, stroking Fou's fur. "He's usually with me in Chaldea, but I didn't expect him to sneak into the transfer."

Cu snorted, amused. "Well, looks like you've got yourself a stowaway. Guess he couldn't stand being left behind."

Der Freischütz's gaze lingered on Fou for a moment before she looked away, muttering, "An odd creature, to say the least."

Angela's expression softened, though her tone remained cold. "Even in this mission, distractions find their way to us. Let's hope it doesn't become a liability."

Ritsuka gave a nervous laugh, patting Fou on the head. "I think he'll be okay. Right, Fou?"

"Fou fou!" the creature barked in agreement, wagging its small tail.

The group began to move, their initial confusion giving way to cautious determination. The grassy field stretched out before them, but as Ritsuka froze, his gaze locked on the sky. The others followed their line of sight, and silence fell over the group.

Above them, the sky stretched out in shades of serene blue, but it was marred by an eerie anomaly. A massive ring of light hovered in the heavens, pulsating faintly with an unnatural glow. Its presence was otherworldly, almost divine, but its sheer size and unnatural form evoked a deep sense of dread.

Mash gripped her Fou tightly, her voice trembling. "What… is that?"

Ritsuka's breath hitched as they took a step back. "That's… not normal. That shouldn't be there."

Angela's eyes locked onto the anomaly, her expression unreadable. For a moment, she said nothing, her gaze reflecting the glow of the ring. Finally, she spoke, her tone detached yet tinged with an unfamiliar emotion. "The sky," Angela murmured, almost to herself. "It's… blue. So vast, so open."

The group turned to her in confusion.

"The City," Angela continued, almost to herself. "The City was always suffocating. Smoke, ash, and industry obscured everything. I've never seen something so… untouched."

Her words drew a curious glance from Hong Lu. Hong Lu tilted his head, an amused smile playing on his lips. "First time seeing a clear sky, Angela? That's a little hard to imagine."

Angela shot him a sharp glance but didn't respond.

Meanwhile, Romani's voice crackled over the communication link, breaking the heavy silence. "Ritsuka! Mash! Are you okay? The transfer worked, right?"

"We're here, Doctor," Ritsuka replied, their voice shaky. "But there's… something in the sky. A ring of light. It's massive, and it feels…"

"Wrong," Mash finished.

Romani's pause on the other end was unnerving. "A ring of light? That doesn't sound like anything natural—or magical, for that matter. Olga, do you see this?"

In the Chaldea command room, Olga's face was pale as she stared at the monitor. The holographic display showed a live feed of the anomaly, its ominous glow casting long shadows across the landscape. "That… That's not magecraft. No mage alive could conjure something like that. What is this?"

Da Vinci leaned closer to the screen, her usual smile replaced with a pensive frown. "This isn't just an anomaly; it's a manifestation. Something like that only happens when a timeline is completely broken."

"A timeline shattered enough to distort the sky?" Olga whispered, disbelief thick in her tone.

Da Vinci nodded grimly. "Exactly. Whatever is causing this singularity isn't just warping history—it's tearing at the fabric of reality itself."

Back on the field, Cu tightened his grip on his spear, his expression grim. "Whatever it is, we can't just stand around gawking at it. If that thing is tied to the singularity, it's bad news."

Medusa crossed her arms, her voice steady despite the unease. "We should be cautious. This is no ordinary distortion."

Ritsuka nodded, shaking off his fear. "Doctor, do you have any idea what's causing this?"

Romani's voice was strained. "No, but I'll keep analyzing the data. For now, focus on finding the source of the singularity. Be careful, all of you."

Angela remained silent, her gaze fixed on the anomaly. The ring of light reflected in her amber eyes, its glow a stark contrast to the shadows of her past.

As the group began to move, Angela lingered for a moment, her gaze still fixed on the sky. The ring of light reflected in her amber eyes, its glow a stark contrast to the shadows that haunted her past.

"It's beautiful," she muttered, her tone unreadable.

Hong Lu chuckled lightly, walking past her. "Beautiful or not, I'd rather not find out what it's capable of. Let's hope it's just a light show."

Ritsuka shook off their fear, determination hardening their expression. "Doctor, do you have any idea what's causing this?"

Romani's voice was strained. "Not yet. But for now, focus on finding the source of the singularity. Be careful, all of you."

Angela finally turned away from the sky, her expression neutral once more. "Let's move. Lingering here won't provide us with answers."

Angela didn't respond, her expression unreadable as she finally turned to follow the group.

As the group pressed on, Fou nestled against Mash's arms, letting out a soft "kyu." The field stretched endlessly before them, peaceful yet foreboding, as the unnatural ring of light pulsed ominously in the heavens above.
