Chapter 5: Rewards
I walked past Hera and took my giant form. My clothes shifted to the flaming armor that I had in what I called my 'Sauron' form sans helmet. The crowd looked at me in wonder and confusion. Those that were confused had not been present when the Fates had proclaimed me King. I wondered briefly how I would project my voice, then I remembered that I was nearly 20 feet tall and I would have no problems being heard.
"Olympians, Demigods, and gathered friends. You might be wondering why you ar-"
"WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU?! GET OFF MY FATHERS THRONE YOU DISRESPECTFUL SHIT!"
I looked over to Hera who had paled, she noticed the evil grin slowly spreading on my face when I glanced over to the voice who had yelled. Heracles was not that hard to identify. Lion skin coat, bare chested, entitled looking face.
I held out my hand and waited, I didn't think it would work but when Zeus' Master Bolt shot in from an open window and into my hand I wasn't the only one surprised. There were whispers and gasps of shock. Clenching my fist around the weapon I poured my energy into it and watched as it came to life crackling with black lightning.
Heracles gulped when he saw the smirk I shot his way. Before he could even say another word I threw the bolt hitting the pretentious minor god in the chest. Heracles was sent flying through the air, skin smoking.
"Right, before I was interrupted my name is Blake Corvinus. Formerly just a lowly traveler but the Fates have seen it fit to make me the King of this rowdy rabble."
There was obviously outrage at this reveal. After all, why would an outsider that no one has ever heard of become king completely ignoring the line of succession. There was a flash of light as the three old crones appeared again. I braced myself to be thrown another curve ball as they began to address the crowd.
"Hail, Selene, Goddess of the Moon, Queen of Olympus"
"Hail, Lena, Goddess of Prophecy, Lady of the Hunt, Matriarch of Virginity"
"Lord Corvinus, you are tasked with aiding the world against the forces of Gaia in the coming war. Olympus is at your command."
They disappeared again before I could get a word in. If the Olympians were shocked before, now they were completely floored. Two more new goddesses, one with a domain that used to belong to one of them and another with an already existing domain with ties to Artemis' domains. I wanted to bash my head in against a pillar but fought off the urge.
"Right, the Fates have spoken. First order of business…"
[Scene Break]
I bit back a groan as the gods and goddesses around me began to squabble like children. In my experience traveling through worlds I had never met immortal beings who had been around for thousands of years bicker like toddlers. It was strange watching Apollo arguing with Aphrodite about who had the best looking whatever while the demigods looked around in confusion.
The demigods had all been forgotten and they seemed to slowly realize this fact. I was slowly losing my temper at how little the Olympians cared for their kids. Poseidon tried, on several occasions to butt in and bring up the demigods but he was talked over by the other gods. Hades shot me a look that conveyed a singular message.
'You need to step in.'
I sighed, whether I liked it or not I was now the king of these idiots. Glancing over to Hades I motioned over to the demigods. His eyes widened when he realized what I was about to do.
"ALRIGHT, SHUT UP!"
My shout shook the throne room as thunder crashed outside. I had unleashed a fraction of my full power which had managed to blanket the whole room with an oppressive aura. The Olympians immediately quiet down and I turned to Hades who had erected a shield around the demigods to prevent them from getting crushed by my power.
"You are Olympians and you bicker like a bunch of whiny toddlers. Have you forgotten your children? They fought and died for your thrones, they fought against monsters they had no hope of beating on your fucking whims because you lot are too caught up sniffing your own shit…"
Selene put a calming hand on my shoulder from her throne next to mine. She motioned over to the demigods who had frozen in shock from what I had said. Some had grim looks on their faces.
"Address your children, reward them, dismiss them, just please for the love of fuck stop acting like they're not there or so help me… I will take all of them away from here and leave Olympus to burn."
I pulled back my power into myself releasing the Olympians. Hades let out a sigh of relief as he dropped the shield around the demigods. I felt bad that I had also started crushing him along with everyone else. I made a note to practice selectively targeting things with my crushing aura for future reference.
I let my temper simmer down as Selene continued to rub my arm in a consoling manner. She gave me a look that conveyed her message of speaking later in private. I nodded and turned my attention back to the demigods who had recovered from their shock at my outburst.
One by one they were called forward by their surviving parents. Fortunately, despite the many deaths in the Olympian Council, the ones present were the only ones with children. Apollo, Hermes, Demeter, Aphrodite, and some of the minor gods gifted their children boons. From immortality, to something as simple as acknowledgement. It was sad to see children using wishes granted by divine beings for such trivial matters. Finally came Percy Jackson.
Poseidon spoke to his son and offered him godhood for his services to Olympus and even a seat in Atlantis. Unsurprisingly Percy turned it down. The young boy looked at me at first seeing if I would react to his denial of ascension. I merely gave him a wink to proceed with his plan.
"I would like to ask for several things instead of godhood."
Poseidon looked shocked, the other Olympians were a mix of emotions. Some looked perturbed by the turn of events. A few, mainly Hera, had a flash of anger before it disappeared behind a mask of calm. I reminded myself to talk to her once this was all over. Seeing that everyone seemed to be waiting for my answer on this request I looked at Percy and grinned.
"And what is your request?"
"If it's not too much to ask… the other demigods, all the unclaimed. Their parents ignoring them was a big factor in a lot of them turning to join Luke and the Titans."
"Easily done, I'll make sure they claim their children from the moment they arrive at camp."
"A-and the cabins, nothing big like the main cabins cause that would take up a lot of room but maybe smaller cabins for the minor gods?"
"I don't see why that wasn't a thing before…" I sent a scathing glare at the other Olympians who looked anywhere but me.
"Lastly-"
"YOU!"
