Ghost Slayer: My Wife Kanao

Chapter 8: ch8

Ichiro Tamoya was just about to step forward to grab Kanao Tsuyuri, but as he reached out, he stopped suddenly. Under the bamboo hat, the boy's golden eyes were icy cold, making Ichiro Tamoya shiver unconsciously. It felt as though he was being watched by a ghost.

"This... is this what I bought?" Ichiro Tamoya pointed at Kanao. "I have paid her parents, so she is now my personal property."

"Yes, yes," Kanao's parents nodded in agreement.

Sam Miller glanced at Kanao's parents unconsciously. Facing his gaze, they took a step back, clutching the money bag tightly—the money they received from selling their daughter.

He suddenly felt a kind of sadness, seeing that the darkness of human nature had degraded to such a disgusting degree.

"Boom..."

He punched the wall next to him.

"Boom..."

With a muffled sound, his fist created a large hole in the wall. Ichiro Tamoya looked at this scene in horror. While a musket can break through a wall, it cannot do so as violently as Sam did. Moreover, Sam's destructive power with just his palm was even more shocking.

Ichiro Tamoya backed away unconsciously.

"Now, I want to take my fiancée away. Do you have any objection?" Sam asked lightly.

"No... no objection," Ichiro Tamoya stammered. Facing such a formidable presence, he didn't dare to say a word.

"Let's go," Sam said, looking down at Kanao as if seeking her opinion. However, despite the commotion, the girl remained like a doll, her purple eyes empty and dim, showing no emotion. Likewise, she gave no response to his question.

In a short time, Sam seemed to have become accustomed to Kanao's silent demeanor. Without saying anything further, he reached out and held Kanao's small hand, leading her away.

Kanao's parents wanted to say something, but when they met Sam's golden eyes beneath the bamboo hat, they dared not speak. That gaze was ghostly, as if staring too long would invite disaster.

...

"Master Ichiro Tamoya..." Kanao's parents addressed him carefully as Sam led Kanao away.

Ichiro Tamoya stared at them with some annoyance. Under his gaze, Kanao's parents recoiled, though they clung tightly to the money bag. They had already handed over their daughter, and the rest was not their concern. They had no intention of giving up the money—this was the price for selling their daughter.

"Humph!"

Ichiro Tamoya snorted coldly: "In this land, those who offend me generally don't survive until dawn."

Kanao's parents turned pale, understanding the implication of Ichiro Tamoya's words. As a slave trader, Ichiro Tamoya had many thugs and even possessed advanced weapons like muskets.

"It seems their daughter's fiancé is in trouble," they thought, feeling a bit gleeful at the prospect.

Ichiro Tamoya walked away, not planning to do anything to Kanao's parents. As for taking money from them, he didn't bother. He knew that within a few days, Kanao's parents would gamble away the money at the casino and end up owing him a large sum.

He knew their character all too well.

Only when he thought of the golden eyes of the boy in the bamboo hat did Ichiro Tamoya's expression turn ugly. He had been the king in this area for so long, and no one had ever dared to challenge him.

Although the boy seemed frightening, after all, he was just human!

No matter how powerful a person is, can he really withstand a musket?
