Harry Potter: Using science to be IMMORTAL

Chapter 382: Chapter 381: Magical Power Source - The Moon

More than ten minutes later, Murphy stood in front of a dilapidated moss-covered hut, with a grotesque humanoid monster, riddled with spells, lying dead at his feet.

"This appears to be a bog witch," a Magical Disaster Response officer said. "But these creatures have been extinct for centuries; we thought they were gone for good."

"Lately, there have been many occurrences like this," another officer added. "We even saw a Quintaped in Wales recently, where it shouldn't have been."

"They've been found!" a wizard shouted, and Murphy looked over to see officers carrying several unconscious wizards out of the hut.

"Most are just unconscious, but two seem to have been hit by a severe illusion curse and need to be taken to St. Mungo's for treatment."

Among the unconscious wizards, Murphy recognized a familiar face. He approached Draco and cast a spell to awaken him. Draco initially screamed in terror but soon recognized Murphy, "Professor, is it really you? Not another tormenting illusion?"

"Is seeing me that much of a torment?" Murphy asked.

"No, not at all, Professor, really you? You've come to save us?" Draco, pale and shaky, got up. "There was a monster, incredibly powerful, with mind-control magic, making us see hallucinations. My teammates..."

"Rest assured, they are safe now," Murphy comforted him. "I didn't know you'd joined the Special Training Group. You haven't graduated yet, have you?"

"Not yet, but my combat skills are quite good; I was admitted exceptionally," Draco said.

That must have been influenced by the Malfoy family's power, but Murphy didn't point it out.

"Special Training Group's training is tough. What made you come here? Even if you want to stand out, completing your education seems safer," Murphy remarked.

"The things... taught at school are outdated," Draco said. "Even with your reforms, wizarding education is behind the times."

"I can feel it, the world is changing, everyone is changing. Those who can't change will be left behind. I don't want to be left behind; I want to be at the forefront..."

"Oh?"

Hearing these words from Draco Malfoy was somewhat surprising for Murphy.

Unbeknownst to him, these kids had also undergone significant changes.

"You're right. Since you have your own thoughts, keep at it," Murphy encouraged him, then used the Thunderbird to notify the Malfoys to come for Draco. He then pulled Serica aside.

"Murphy..." Serica twiddled her fingers nervously, her face flushed and buried in her ample chest.

Had she always been this shy?

"Why, not calling me 'sir' anymore?" he teased.

"Sir..."

Serica's ears turned red.

"Just how long has it been since we last spoke? You've become so distant," Murphy sighed. "Didn't you use to call me 'master'?"

"Eh?" Serica froze for a moment.

Did I call him that? Maybe in dreams, many times, but I never said it out loud, right? Or did I?

"Forgotten that too?" Murphy shook his head. "I'm truly disappointed."

This seemed to hit Serica hard; she suddenly reached out to grab Murphy's coat.

"Mas, Master..."

Murphy could clearly hear her rapid heartbeat and feel her nervous breathing.

Sigh... This girl really does have a potential for submission.

He felt a primordial force taking over the dark parts of his mind.

Thoughts of ropes, rulers, whips, and little candles began to corrode his reason.

SAN points, critical.

But no, first, let's finish the official business.

"Cough, alright," Murphy patted her head. "I called you here to ask something. Have magical disasters been happening more frequently lately compared to before?"

"Eh?" Serica's brain seemed overheated, not quite catching Murphy's question at first.

"I need to know about the frequency of magical disasters over the past year, especially the changes in the last three months. It could be important."

Serica finally snapped back to reality. "Okay, I'll compile the data."

Two days later, Murphy received Serica's report.

"Magical disasters have increased by over 30% in the last three months, becoming more frequent."

Murphy, holding the report, traveled to the Siberian tundra.

There, amidst the icy wilderness, stood a metal wall, 150 meters tall and 500 meters wide, constructed from over 50,000 tons of magic metal.

Named Odin's Eye, it was a super-precision radar array built by the Void Particle Laboratory to detect magical information.

In the control room beneath the radar, Murphy met with Denis Galvins, the head of Odin's Eye.

"Denis, I need the background magical radiation data from the last six months," Murphy said.

Background magical radiation, minus specific concentrated magical points, refers to the almost uniform magical fluctuations in the air or ground. It's a crucial indicator of the global magical level

.

After realizing the danger of increasing magical levels, Murphy had been preparing to monitor background magical radiation.

Odin's Eye was built in the Siberian tundra to minimize interference and obtain the most accurate data possible.

Soon, Murphy received a chart, and Denis pointed to the rising curve, "Based on our six-month continuous monitoring, the background magical radiation level has been rising, correlating with the estimated number of people aware of magic."

Murphy compared the chart with Serica's report, finding nearly identical curves.

Though not enough to conclude definitively, there's a high likelihood that the increase in magical disasters is related to the rise in magical levels.

"Lord Murphy, we've also noticed another phenomenon," Denis said, handing over another chart. "The magical background radiation isn't uniform in all directions. There's a regular rise and fall pattern..."

"Actually, this pattern almost matches tidal movements... Moreover, we've discovered that radiation is stronger in the direction of the Moon and weaker in the direction opposite to the Moon, that is, towards the Earth's core..."

"You mean..."

"Yes, we speculate that the Moon might be a massive source of magical power."

"In fact, we've sent exploratory primal waves to the Moon. According to the feedback, there might be a significant amount of primal matter on the Moon."

"We're still verifying this data, but... it's very likely to be true."

"A significant amount of primal matter? How much?"

"At least tens of thousands of tons."

Tens of thousands of tons? Primal matter? If the hypothesis of primal matter being divine blood is true, does it mean the Moon holds the blood and flesh of tens of thousands of tons of deities?

Did deities collectively commit suicide on the Moon?

No, the real question is... whether that blood and flesh are dead or alive?
