Chapter 2: Chapter 02
The Templars are the 5 most powerful hunters of the White Crusaders. They all have the ranks of A and are known to possess incredible strength and abilities. Each of them bore the nicknames that are related to their abilities-- White Wolf, Nephtys, Merlin, The Spearhead, and The Archangel.
They accompanied the Saintess ever since she formed the group and have been serving her wholeheartedly.
Mike Sandoval could only wish to be like them yet it was all just a dream, he is a weakling that should stay at his place. A weakling that should only fight for his family, not for the World. It is too vast for his abilities that makes almost no difference to a normal human.
"I wish I could be stronger..."
They are currently heading towards the shortcut that the Saintess told them about. Although they were not sure about the information of Vincent Isagani, the Merlin, they do not have the choice but to trust him. The Saintess needs time to replenish her mana and so are the soldiers, at least in here they could have a little rest...
Or is it?
As soon as they let their guard down, an army of Werewolves started to flock on their direction. Mike Sandoval and the weakest hunters who are in the back rank, are surprised yet terrified as they saw the hoard of monsters heading their way. They scrambled for a defense before their weapons collided with the flesh of the beasts.
Mike Sandoval is a hunter with the rare class of Spell Soldier, a type of hunter who specializes in long-range combat and spell casting. It is a terrific class but for him, who is a low-ranking hunter, he could not excel in either the field of magic or warriorhood. Even with his class, he could not be the best.
"Basic Swordsmanship- Slash!"
Although a low-ranker, he possess a great knowledge about the Hexes and the monsters that resided within it. He knew that a dark-class outsider like werewolves have a low resistance in Divine Magic.
Impurity versus purity.
Darkness versus the Light.
Gods versus Demons
This is a stereotypical battle between the Good and Evil, and always, the Good always prevail. He knows that humans with divine magic who possess awareness and intelligence are much more advantageous than an army of brainless demonic beasts.
Prior entering the Hex, all party members received five Heavenly stones, an item that could enhance one's affinity with Divine magic.
He tried holding it on his right hand while attacking the Werewolves. The result? He became faster at moving and discerning the attack of the beasts.
"Hold the Heavenly stones! They will enhance your attacking power!"
He shouted at the soldiers while casting a fire spell to a group of beasts that are running towards his direction.
He then brought from his packet, a wooden spear. And started piercing the enemies with it.
"Basic Spearmanship- Pierce!"
Thousands are decimated with his spear until it worn out because of its low durability. But still, he is still joyous that he was able to use his knowledge about mythical creatures in this battle.
"Just like what I thought, Werewolves are weak to anything wood and pointy," He started smirking and boasting about how smart he is until...
A towering figure started to emerge to from the distance...
"No way..."
With each slow passing step, the face of the gigantic figure unravels until it revealed itself.
"A giant werewolf! Run everyone!"
The terrifying monster started chasing them with its surprising swift movements. It devoured everything on its path while crushing those who dare to fight him.
As a low-ranker, Mike is well-aware that his Mana is fast depleting and stands no chance against what could be an S-rank monster. But then again, he remembered his proposal before entering the dungeon.
"if I couldn't double-up my efforts, I would not be paid a large sum of money and this whole raid would be useless..."
He decided to fight off the monster or at the very least, buy enough time before the Saintess and the Templars arrived on the battlefield to turn the tides.
"Fair enough," he whispered before casting a wind spell on his feet to enhance his speed.
The giant Werewolf, sensing an impending strike from the rear, immediately turned his face to the right side and immediately readied his fist to smash Mike with full force but before he could even hit him, the hunter disappeared only to appear again in the part of its abdomen.
"Basic Swordsmanship- Gut"
It is a cross-slash horizontal attack that aims to disembowel the target with full precision. It is the ultimate attack of the Basic Swordsmanship that could rival even intermediate sword arts but again, the rank of Mike proved to be hindrance to his assault.
The sword shattered before even making its slash to the beast's stomach.
Suddenly, a huge fist collided with Mike's head. He tried to fully dodge it with another speed spell but his left arm proved to be not so fortunate as it was smashed by the Giant Werewolf's strong punch.
The G-Rank hunter flew away and was hit by a sharp flying debris that pierced his chest. He coughed blood but still escaped within a narrow distance.
He hid behind a giant pillar of rock and drank a mana-recovery potion. But it didn't save him from the pain induced by his pierced chest and amputated arm. He let out an agonizing scream that can be heard miles away.
It didn't took long before the Giant Werewolf found him again. the creature held his neck and began crushing his bones.
"F-fire We... w-weapon...," he coughed blood once again.
"A-arrow."
A small fiery arrow pierced through the Monster's neck which let out a screeching sound.
While the monster was distracted, he was thrown away, which widen the distance, enabling him to prepare for another spell.
He raised his remaining hand again and struggled to utter another spell.
"Wood Magic- Madera!"
5 giant wooden spikes emerged from the ground and immediately launched towards the beast.
It pierced the beast's steel-hard skin and disable it from moving. Unfortunately, Mike's mana is depleting and the wood vines returned to the ground.
Moreover, the heavenly stone has dissipated which left him now with only four pieces. He should act wisely.
Lost without any attack now, Mike started to fall down on the ground. His head is looking up in the sky as if the sky is even there.
He laughed maniacally and raised his middle finger to the beast.
"I'll kill you, you son of a bitch! Haha!"
In response, the beast slashed his right hand causing him to again scream in agony.
"Ahhhh! F*ck you!"
"I'll kill you in every way possible!"
he muttered useless words again and again.
"if I would be given another life, I'll kill you even if you reincarnated.
The beast, now laughing with a distorted smile, began approaching the now battered man. When he neared him, he raised his claws and attacked him with an incredible swiftness when suddenly a loud explosion followed by a massive blast of white flame engulf the giant outsider.
It was none other than the 'Merlin' himself, Vincent Isagani. He approached the massacred and almost life-less body of Mike and tapped his fragile soldier. Mike, whose body is too tired from the continuous attack from the Werewolf Outsider, only teared a little from his bloody eyes before passing out.
On the other hand, the Saintess is now standing alongside the five Templars, their aura is exuding so much greatness. Then, it began...
The first attack was cast upon by a hunter with an athletic body who resembles an animal. He wields two silver daggers on his two hands and then began moving with an incredible speed that seems like out of natural order.
"Blood Wolf- Full Moon!"
His movements were only followed by thousands and thousands of sharp slashes that left the Giant Outsider to be wounded from all parts of his body.
The man, who's nickname, White Wolf , is renowned for his astonishing assassin skills that mimics the swiftness of animals. He was followed by "The Spearhead" templar, who followed the damage-dealing process of the party with one massive pierce on the Werewolf's chest. They assisted by the top-magician, 'Merlin', with his ice spears.
On one side, the templar nicknamed 'Nephtys' conjured a gigantic wing-like energy shield that covers the Saintess who is preparing a massive attack.
"Everyone, behind the shield now!" she commanded to all the hunters and templars.
They did so as she said.
The Saintess finished all of her preparations and began producing a massive energy around her body. After this, several blades began to materialize in numbers. They were connected to her by a series of golden chains that are very thick and unbreakable.
"Heavenly Casting, Exodus..."
Everyone, including the Templars are astonished to see the Saintess cast a brand-new spell. It was different from what they usually see to her when fighting.
"Unshackle"
The unbreakable chains were shattered instantly and the thousands of blades began attacking the Werewolf monster.
Despite the monster's avoidance, many of the blades hit its vital parts including the heart. Strangely, it is defending only its head and not the other parts of his body.
"The Saintess is really amazing!"
"Way to go Saintess and the Templars"
"We are finally done with this!"
As the outsider was decapitated, the Saintess started descending to the ground. She could feel the fatigue after using a large amount of mana.
"Using that spell is f*cking exhausting, I'll definitely file a leave a whole month!"
"You did a job, Saintess! I'm just sad that I was not able to contribute even a little to the battle, you guys are so fast, you killed the boss instantly," The templar, nicknamed "Archangel" told her.
"Thank you, but I'm afraid I was not the one who defeated the boss..."
"What do you mean?"
"Look!"
The Archangel gazed upon the direction that the Saintess is pointing to, it was the lifeless body of the monster.
"The Outsider evaded all of the attacks that was aimed to its head, it is desperate enough to defend his head despite the attacks that were trajected at the other vital parts. Do you think one blade would be enough to cause a decapitation for a monster whose skin was as thrice hard as a metal? I don't think so. Plus, when I use the skill, Heavenly Casting Exodus- Unshackle, I can see all of the blades' trajectory. Even so, I don't see even a single one that touched its neck..."
"Then than mea-"
"Yes, someone more powerful than us, decapitated the monster"
"And another thing, this was not the boss monster"
"W-what d-do you mean?"
A silence ensued.
"For a supposed boss monster of a high-ranking Hex, the death smoke that it exudes is only blue. We should be seeing a purple at least..."
Then it suddenly happened that all of the death smoke around the dead outsiders started to accumulate. At first it was like a soft breeze, but then, it suddenly ascended with an energy similar to that of a super typhoon.
Many of the hunters began to be thwarted to the walls as the whirlwind-like energy has accumulated into a singularity that bursts out as soon as filled the death smoke mana.
"W-what is t-that?"
All gazes fell upon the mighty being whose wearing a bizarre t'boli clothing and are covered in tattoos. It has a long, ominous black hair that waves endlessly. His eyes are glowing black while he holds a majestic sword that is dripping with blood on his left hand while giant shield on the other. On his foot lies the grueling expression of the decapitated werewolf outsider.
"C-could it be!"
"No, t-this i-is im...impossible!"
A madness indeed as they realized that the being who decapitated the Giant Werewolf is not a player but rather the boss of the Dungeon itself.
A name revealed itself on the top of the being's head
