Chapter 13: Chapter 13
As they were training, a called them out, "Can I join you guys," Akeno asked.
"Come on," Rias said.
With her permission, Akeno walked into the room, "Alastor-san how was your sleep yesterday." She said as she stood at the side next to Rias.
"It was perfect, perfect. Everything, down to last-minute details."
Hearing Alastor, Rias started to blush.
"Anyway, Akeno, what are you doing here," Rias said changing the subject.
"I thought I join you guys on whatever are you doing," Akeno said, then she gave Alastor a side-eye.
"Hmm..." He was deep in thought as he looked at Rias and Akeno, "Akeno, how good is your control over lightning?" He asked, standing up from the couch. Rias, who was just about to say something, stopped.
"What do you mean, Alastor-san?" She asked confusedly as she looked over to Rias who nodded in agreement.
This subtle exchange wasn't missed by Alastor as he was again impressed by the level of loyalty that Rias commands from her Peerage.
"Doesn't matter, can you blast a controlled bolt of lightning at me? Full power." He asked her, taking off his overcoat and standing in front of Akeno. "Eh? Are you sure?" She again looked over to Rias with a surprised expression. Rias understood that he was testing Akeno for some reason and nodded again, signalling Akeno.
"Yeah, don't worry." He said, waiting for her attack. "If you say so. Fufu... prepare yourself." She had a coquettish smile on her face as she charged up her lightning and pointed her arm at him.
Within half a second, a thick bolt of lightning left her slender fingers, approaching Alastor in an instant.
"Interesting..." He muttered as he let the lightning hit him. Though instead of throwing him backwards, or even damaging his clothes, it just disappeared as it reached him.
"The Armor of Destruction..." Rias mumbled enviously. It was one of his signature skills and no attack had ever broken through his armor yet at least within public rating games.
But it was not entirely made of demonic energy, in fact, the armour of destruction is a combined effect of demonic and cursed energy.
That's probably why nobody couldn't break his armour of destruction till now as nobody knows what the armor is made of.
The armour is not unbreathable, if the incoming attack contains magic which is greater than the magic the Armor possesses then the armour is useless.
If, For example, Sirzechs were to attack Alastor then his armour is just a decoration with no effect on the attack.
Of course, If Alastor uses his trump card, Domine Expansion, then that's a different story.
He smirked, "You did good, Akeno. You'll be a good training partner for Rias when we start serious training the next week. She might just be able to form the rudimentary Armor of Destruction by the time the deadline's up." He said.
"Really? You'll teach me your signature skill?" Rias asked, her face lighting up with excitement.
"Sure. I did tell you that I'd help you with your engagement problem after all," Alastor replied with a nonchalant shrug.
For Alastor, even if he teaches her armour of destruction, he is losing nothing instead he will have an ally.
Then, turning his attention to Akeno, he noticed the strain in her breathing. The attack she had unleashed was one of her strongest, yet it hadn't even so much as ruffled his clothes. The realization seemed to dampen her spirits.
"You have a lot of potential, Akeno," he said, his voice calm yet encouraging. "It was a strong attack, but I'm just too strong for you. It's practically impossible for you to catch up to me, no matter what." His light smile was meant to reassure, but Akeno's expression showed a fierce determination. She clearly wasn't satisfied with that answer.
Seeing her frustration, Alastor chuckled and approached her, placing a hand gently on her head. The simple gesture seemed to deflate all the tension she had built up, her anger fading under his touch.
"You're suppressing yourself, holding back your true potential," he observed. "I can tell there's some kind of trauma you're carrying. We'll address that when the time comes." Alastor said as he remembered her backstory from the anime.
Akeno is torn between her desire to become a powerful sorceress and her fear of her fallen angel side.
If she truly wishes to become strong, she will have to accept her fallen angel side, whether she likes it or not. Akeno's true power lies within her fallen angel side, and if she wants to become a powerful sorceress, she will have to embrace it.
"You're such a loyal girl, Akeno... So I knew you would do anything for Rias." He gently held her chin between his thumb and forefinger and brought her face close to his.
Akeno could feel his breath on her face and felt herself taking shorter breaths. Her lower lip was slightly trembling as she looked deep into his eyes which seemed to be sucking her soul.
Just as she felt her lips brush against his, Rias interrupted them, "Hey! Stop bullying my Queen...." Rias came in between them and pushed him away from Akeno, standing in front of her protectively. "You can leave, Akeno. I'll talk to you later. Don't think much of this troublesome guy. He's just messing with you." She said hurriedly as she dismissed Akeno.
He could almost see the girl in question heave a sigh of relief as she left with a, "As you say, Buchou."
"Come on, I was just teasing her." He smirked at Rias who looked at him with an expression, which he couldn't identify.
"Alastor, don't be so unrestrained all the time." She sighed.
"I'm a devil, Rias. Unrestrained is literally the biggest character trait for us." He said.
"Yeah, yeah, let's go back."
