His only Cure

Chapter 8: Chapter 8

They separated at the reception and went their separate ways. Today was no different from the previous one. Fruitful meetings and fighting against time until the evening. Just like yesterday, they found everyone patiently waiting for news.

"Another win! Nothing can stop us!" Diana shouted victoriously as she entered the office. Once again, shouts of joy could be heard from everyone. All colleagues went home in good spirits. Sophie sat down heavily in her chair, rubbing her aching head. The mental effort was enormous for her and she knew what she would face. Three more days and she would be able to work peacefully.

It was the same at her old company. Her body wasn't as perfect and strong as everyone thought. After prolonged mental exertion, painful migraines began and her nose began to bleed. Sometimes it was so bad that after a few difficult days she had to take a day off because she couldn't get out of bed. Her father always scolded her for her lack of professionalism, but Sophie was unable to control her body. Working under constant stress did not help. However, she was able to hide it well. No one has noticed her condition yet. She checked if everything was prepared and this time she returned to the apartment earlier. She took a few bites of food, took a quick shower, and fell onto the bed, exhausted. She woke up in the morning with a wonderful migraine that hit a second after waking up. Getting up from her bed, she noticed that her pillow and T-shirt were stained with blood. She sighed heavily and picked up the bloody clothes and threw them into the washing machine. She hoped it wouldn't happen again today. This would be a big problem for her. She was getting ready for work and left a little later than usual. But she looked as usual. There was no pain or fatigue visible on her face. Apart from the fact that she felt it very strongly. She entered the company selling her trademark smile at the reception and went to her office.

The last day was the hardest. She knew that these clients would be more stubborn and reluctant to cooperate with them because they had a long history of cooperation with her father. However, she also knew how greedy they were for money. It was enough to offer them high enough profits, and after a little bit of complaining, they agreed to join their side. On the last day, everyone was more determined than before. It depended on whether the boss would praise them for good results or leave disappointed. The fight began again. Sophie and her colleagues fought as hard as they could. Two customers turned out to be more stubborn than they thought. Apparently her father, seeing what was going on, had to offer them better wages. Unfortunately for him, Sophie had no limits. She was free to up the ante that almost made them drool over it. After the last successful meeting, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

"Sophie, you did it" Diana took the woman's hand.

"We made it. I couldn't do all this without you. We can all be proud of ourselves" She squeezed the girl's hand, smiling at everyone. They returned to the office with another victory. This time, Diana, holding Sophie's hand, raised it up in victory, causing cheerful cheers.

"Our manager, my fellows! Marketing master and our new guru!" She shouted cheerfully amid applause.

"Yes, yes" Sophie managed to free herself from Diana's grip. "You all did great. Let's remember that now we have to hook everything up nicely and report back to our boss. Let him see what his employees are capable of when they put one hundred percent into their work" The fatigue was making itself visible and she felt that something warm was about to run from her nose.

"See you tomorrow. Come back well rested" She waved goodbye and walked into her office, sitting at her desk and grabbing a handful of tissues. She quickly put them to her nose before the blood dripped onto her clothes. She rested her head on the chair and waited with her eyes closed until her nose stopped bleeding. Several minutes later she was able to return to her apartment. This time she took some painkillers and after a quick shower she went to sleep. However, the migraine would not give up and tormented her for part of the night before she fell asleep from exhaustion. Morning came too quickly for Sophie to recover sufficiently. It was difficult to hide her tiredness from the employees. She defended herself by saying that everyone looked equally tired, except for one anomaly who was bursting with energy as usual. Luckily for Sophie, she was able to use Diana to get things done while she spent time behind the desk trying to keep track of everything.

At the end of the job, the report landed on Darell's desk. While looking through the documents, a smile and pleasant surprise appeared on the man's face. Sophie did a great job. She managed to pick up as many as ten customers from Antonio's doorstep. The man sat comfortably in a chair, looking through a detailed report of all meetings. Thinking about her achievements made him feel much better. He was having trouble sleeping again and was killing himself and his poor assistant. A night spent by her side would be a good option for this time. After tomorrow, there was to be a meeting of large companies where they would brag about their achievements. This would be a good moment to mock Antonio's stupidity. With a small smile on his face, Darell sent Noah home and texted Sophie. He informed her that he would see her soon. This time, he returned to his apartment and took a T-shirt and sweatpants with him. Several minutes later he was entering the code to her door.

She sat furiously on a chair in the kitchen, looking at the uninvited guest. Her hair, still damp, suggested that she had taken a bath. There were two portions of food on the table. The man looked pointedly at Sophie, pleasantly surprised.

"Eat before I change my mind" She grumbled and started eating in a bad mood.

He couldn't have picked a worse day than this. After dinner, the woman put the plates in the sink and went straight to bed while she still had the strength.

"Would you mind if I use the shower?" He asked, leaning back in the kitchen chair.

"Of course, dear boss" She replied sarcastically. "The honor kicked me" She muttered under her breath. "Now he's asking, ha"

Sophie lay down on the bed, feeling all her strength leaving her. Unaware of what was happening to her, Darell went to take a shower. When he finished, he came out wearing the T-shirt and pants he had brought with him. Seeing Sophie sleeping, he carefully climbed onto the bed and covered himself with the blanket. He slowly approached her, gently wrapping his arms around her waist and placing his face close to her neck. He didn't have to wait long for sleep.

However, somewhere in the middle of the night, strange noises woke him up. He looked around the dark room. Suddenly Sophie moaned heavily, as if in pain. Darell turned on the light to see what was happening. His eyes filled with horror as he saw the bloody woman covered in sweat. She must have had a fever. He took her in his hands and saw that it was blood from the nose. Sophie was hot and visibly in pain. Wasting no time, he grabbed the phone and dialed the number. After a few rings, a sleepy voice answered.

"What's up?"

"Take your things and come quickly to apartment two hundred and five! It's bad" He explained.

"I'll be there in a moment" The man finished the conversation and a moment later he knocked on the door. Scared, Darell opened the door for him.

"What happened?" He was surprised to see his facial expression.

"Do something, Tomas! She's in trouble!" He quickly led the man to Sophie's bedroom. Seeing her in such a state, Tomas sat down next to her and checked her pulse and temperature.

"She's exhausted. Her body couldn't take it. I have seen such cases. She's just weaker than the others. I will give her appropriate medications and a drip. After tomorrow she will be as good as new"

He looked suspiciously at his friend, looking around the room. "Sooo, what are you doing here at this time?" With this question he managed to tear Darell's gaze away from Sophie.

"None of your business" He growled menacingly. Tomas raised his hands up in surrender.

"I just asked. Don't be nervous" He gave the woman the appropriate medications. "Is anyone here? It would be a good idea to unplug it after the drip is finished"

"I'll stay" He replied, looking menacingly at Tomas. The man knew he shouldn't ask any more questions. He showed him what to do and left the apartment unnoticed.

Darell went to the bathroom and brought a warm, damp towel, which he used to gently wipe the girl's bloody face and body. He did this with an angry frown. He couldn't understand how he had missed such a serious case.

She didn't show that she was suffering. How long had she been like this?... Why didn't she say something earlier?... Darell struggled with his thoughts.

Did she also end up in this state when fighting him earlier?... Did someone help her then?... His fists clenched spontaneously. He was furious.
