Chapter 41: The Drakken Games: The Final Round
(Third Person POV)
Baelon stepped to the side, assuming a stance as Ser Gyles faced Drakken directly in front of him. There was sweat trickling down the Prince's face as he looked at Drakken. Despite the fact that his entire body was covered in blood due to the wounds caused by the previous fights, Drakken showed no sign of exhaustion or his body slowing down.
"He's not normal...." Baelon thought to himself, "All of this....no matter how confident we are, he simply shut us down like nothing....Aemon was wounded severely and men lost their lives...."
Ser Gyles looked at Drakken, "Ser Ryam was able to prove to me that you are capable of being wounded." He said seriously, "It appears that fortune is on our side."
"No, it isn't." Drakken said as he rushed him
He swung his sword but Gyles parried it with ease and pivoted to the side, immediately countering with a slash that cut through Drakken's shoulder, blood spraying out.
"Hm." Drakken said as he straightened up, "Not bad."
Ser Gyles then attacked Drakken, their blades clashing momentarily as the Kingsguard tried to take advantage of the fresh wound. The Lord-Commander noticed that the wound did not faze Drakken and was taken aback.
"Not a reaction?" Ser Gyles said, "Both your shoulders are wounded."
"When you go through the same thing as I have...." Drakken pushed him off, "Mere scratches like these are nothing!!"
Drakken swung his sword at him only for it to be parried. Gyles attempted the same thing but Drakken parried his blade and for a couple more seconds, the two of them exchanged multiple swings, all of them being dodged or parried.
Then, out of Drakken's blindspot, Prince Baelon had lunged, thrusting Dark Sister at him. The god of war was able to dodge it, spinning around and elbowing Baelon in the back, causing him to stumble. Gyles had stepped out of the way and rushed at Drakken, going for a thrust but it immediately got parried.
As Baelon straightened up, Gyles had stepped away to avoid a riposte from Drakken. The Prince composed himself and circled around Drakken who was holding his sword with one hand.
"Heh.." Drakken said, "I like this....."
Ser Gyles glanced at Baelon, "Let's approach this carefully, my Prince."
Baelon nodded, "Right."
"Try to stab him on different parts of his body, slowing his movements down." Gyles told him
"Yes." Baelon said
Gyles lunged first, swinging his sword and forcing Drakken to parry his attacks. As the two were locked in a momentary exchange, Baelon flanked Drakken and went to slash his leg. Drakken stepped away to avoid the attack and immediately punched Baelon in the nose, staggering him as Drakken parried Gyles's attacks with one hand.
Baelon scowled, "You....!!"
Drakken then parried and stepped back as Gyles kept following up his slashes.
Baelon composed himself yet again and found an opening in Gyles's movements to attack. And as Drakken fended off Gyles, he saw Baelon coming.
"Hm." Drakken said with a smirk, "I like this."
Everyone then watched as Drakken began to dodge and parry all of Gyles and Baelon's attacks simultaneously, his footwork being so smooth that they could not comprehend what they were watching. Drakken was taking every step with careful precision, timing his blocks and parries perfectly and effortless as he simply looked at both Gyles and Baelon.
He had fought Ser Ryam, a Kingsguard who is similar in skill to Ser Gyles and while he was able to cut him twice, Drakken's body had not adjusted to sword fighting. So now, despite Gyles being a better swordsman than Ryam, he was unable to perform as well due to Drakken using a portion of his dormant skill.
This may be the point of doing the Drakken Games. At some point during the two years where he stayed in the Tower, he reminisced about his time in his world, remembering the battles he had with the Hero-Knight that once defeated him. Something inside him awakened and wanted him to unseal the sword skill that laid in his body.
And it worked, Drakken was realizing his old skill. Despite limiting his power down to the same level as these people, his skill was vastly superior to them.
"Hahaha....." Drakken laughed as he fended off their attacks, "Magnificent....!"
Baelon's attack was parried harder than usual, causing him to stumble. This allowed Drakken to focus on Gyles for two seconds, parrying his sword hard as well and going for a riposte.
The Lord-Commander, however, had anticipated this and composed himself immediately ducking down to avoid Drakken's blade and then slashing at his belly. He did this with such speed that even Drakken was surprised by it.
Drakken felt the blade cut his belly, more blood spraying out as Gyles followed it up with another stab at the stomach, adding more damage to it.
"Tch...." Drakken said as Gyles drove his blade deep inside, "Well...ain't this some shit...."
"Now, My Prince!!!" Gyles shouted
Baelon grabbed Dark Sister's handle with both hands and lunged forward, aiming a thrust at Drakken's heart, letting out a yell.
"Ahhh!!!" He bellowed
Everyone held their breath as they heard the sound of flesh piercing and blood spraying out of Drakken. There was nothing but anxiety filling the bodies of both Jaehaerys and Alysanne, hoping that this was it, that this was the end.
"Did he do it?" Jaehaerys said as he clenched his fist and leaned forward, "Did Baelon do it?"
Baelon panted, "Did I-"
"Pfft, no." Drakken chuckled
Baelon saw that Drakken had his hand clutching Dark Sister by the blade, blood pouring out. The blade had been plunged through Drakken's collarbone instead of his heart like Baelon had intended.
Gyles looked at this, "He directed the blade away from the heart!" He said, "Impossible!!"
"No, it's possible. If it were your blade, I would have stopped it completely." Drakken said as he smirked, "But Valyrian Steel is so sharp that it was going to cut through my flesh regardless. So redirecting it is the proper move."
Baelon looked at this, "Y-You....!!"
"Are we done here?" Drakken raised his eyebrows, "I had some fun, did you?"
Drakken then pulled away, blood pouring out as he was freed from their blades.
Gyles tried to compose himself as Baelon stumbled slightly and before any of them could react, Drakken rushed past them, his movements were fast and calculated, not even the Lord-Commander could react.
Drakken had swung his blade at their midsections, right between the opening in their armors, cutting through them with ease.
Baelon collapsed to his knee as he clutched his wound, "Shit...!!"
Gyles clutched it as he stood there, a shocked look on his face, "I...!"
Drakken then turned around, looking down at Gyles and without wasting a moment, he stabbed the Knight through the back of his leg.
"A-Aghh!!" Ser Gyles exclaimed with pain
"Kneel." Drakken said as blood covered his entire body
He pulled his sword out and Gyles collapsed to his knee. Drakken then kicked his back and planted him on the ground, a smirk on his face.
"Heh." Drakken said as Baelon tried to get up, "Oh, no you don't."
Drakken based the pommel of his sword on Baelon's face, crashing him to the ground.
"Agh!" Baelon cried out
"Baelon!!" Alyssa shouted as she tried to run down from the stands
"No, Alyssa!!" Jaehaerys shouted
The King immediately grabbed his daughter, who tried to fight back.
"Let go of me, Father!!" Alyssa bellowed
"You'll get killed!" Jaehaerys scowled, "I will not have that!!!"
Drakken then kicked Dark Sister away and got over Baelon, placing his sword next to the Prince's neck.
"Do you yield, Prince?" Drakken said with a smirk on his face, "Say the word, say that you lose. And guess what? I'll give you my word that all of those that I've wounded, I will heal their wounds."
"I...." Baelon said as his cheek was busted open, blood pouring out, "What?"
"Go on." Drakken said, "Yield. Your words will save your brother, your Kingsguard. And that guy who lost his hand. I doubt your healers will do anything, they're trash."
Baelon scowled, "Y-You give me your word?"
"I do." Drakken said, "I always hold my end of a deal."
"F-Fine...." Baelon said, "I....."
"I yield."
