House of The Dragon-A God Amongst Men

Chapter 42: Resolution

(Third Person POV)

Drakken straightened up and stepped away from Baelon, who was bleeding on the ground. Ser Gyles Morrigan tried to get up but was unable to do so, his face was growing paler from the blood loss.

Drakken looked at Jaehaerys, "I have defeated them all." He said, "Such a shame. Let this be a lesson, bring me more."

Jaehaerys scowled, "I did not have much time.." He muttered

"Say it, Jaehaerys." Drakken smirked

"What?" Jaheaerys said

"Say that it's my victory." Drakken said with a sinister look on his eyes

"F-Fine.." He said with a begrudging tone, "It is your victory, Drakken."

"Good." Drakken tossed his sword to the side and closed his eyes, "A King does what is necessary to keep his people safe. I respect that."

Suddenly, Drakken released a black flame-like aura that released a slight shockwave. This surprised everyone who was watching, bearing witness to what Drakken was truly capable of. His wounds then healed completely, the blood disappearing and his clothes repairing themselves.

He snapped his fingers and black swirling tendrils sprouted from his arm as he raised it. The tendrils shout out towards Baelon and Gyles, injecting themselves into their bodies. They began to convulse violently, their eyes widening in pure shock as black veins spread all over them.

"A-Aghhh!!!" Gyles shouted in pain

"Take it easy." Drakken said, "It isn't painless, what I'm doing, but it does you more good than harm."

Their wounds immediately closed, healing completely as the tendrils shot out of their bodies and retracted back to Drakken's arm.

"Ah..." Baelon gasped for air as he got on his stomach, "W-what..."

"Now then...." Drakken said, "As for the others...."

************

"What was the entire point of this?" Jaehaerys asked Drakken as they stood in front of each other, "Drakken...."

They were in the Throne room, about two hours after Drakken suddenly healed the other fighters, even reconnecting Ser Jaime Reyne's hand back. The other two that were dead remained dead since Drakken could not care less about them.

Drakken looked at the Iron Throne, "I wonder what your Conqueror was thinking." He said, "I mean....why make it look like that? It's ugly."

"It is not meant to be visually pleasing." Jaehaerys said, "Answer my question."

"For someone who lost a wager, you are speaking with a mighty tone, Jaehaerys." Drakken looked at him, "Why did I do all of this? Oh, I don't know. Probably because I wanted to. Maybe I wanted to see how you reacted when I issued a challenge like this. I wanted to see where I stand with you humans should I stoop myself to your level. I wanted to see if you would place your two sons before me and endanger their lives. I wanted to see if you would make me a decent offer and I can say that I am disappointed. But most importantly, I wished to make my body remember.."

"Remember what?" Jaehaerys asked

"What it is to fight with a sword." Drakken said, "You don't understand anything about me, Jaehaerys Targaryen. I spent countless years in a fiery prison, using everything at my disposal to fight off terrors far worse than you can fathom. And guess what? I ended up superior to them. I left them trembling before me, scared for their lives and when I broke free, I ended up here. And I became curious after a few years....I wondered what it was to wield a blade....now, where I am from, all of this is something a toddler can master. Swords are much more...well, there's no point in telling you this."

"So you'll hold your end of our deal?" Jaehaerys said, "If I hold mine?"

"How many wounds was it? I forget." Drakken said

"You suffered around 6 or 7. It was hard to tell." Jaehaerys said, "It happened so quickly and you healed yourself immediately after it ended."

"Four years should be well." Drakken said, "I won't leave the Realm. I'll stay in my Tower again. However, do yourself a favor and tell your Riverland fuckers to stay out of my territory. My Beast won't spare them should they trespass."

"Y-Your Beast?" Jaehaerys asked, "Wait, it cannot be....the rumors and sightings..."

"Yes. Stay away." Drakken smirked, "That thing is wild, hard to control. Well, I can easily do it but I don't intend to use my direct influence on it. Conditioning it naturally is better for me, at least I think so. But yes, I'll spend some time in my Tower....might build a town around it, who knows? Oh and by the way, if some little conflict sparks up near my territory, I'll intervene so be a dear and tell your people to stay docile. The death I can conjure up in a war is far worse than you can imagine."

Jaehaerys said, "I do not understand you, Drakken." He said, "One minute you are as chaotic as a wildfire, the next you are more reasonable than any unruly Lord I have dealt with."

"I enjoyed the short time I did battle. It was fun." Drakken said, "But the truth is, King Jaehaerys, when you're as powerful as I am, you do things simply because you can and want to. There is no ulterior motive, not scheme at play....you do things simply for the freedom.....oh.....but there was a scheme, haha."

"What?" Jaehaerys said

Drakken patted his coat and the doors opened, Septon Barth barging inside the room.

"Your Grace!!" He called, "The dragonpit!! Balerion has been wounded!! A piece of his wing and scales has been removed, he is bleeding profusely."

Jaehaerys widened his eyes, "W-What?!" He said

Drakken smirked, "Ha!" He said as he waved his hand, causing Jaehaerys to slide out of the way, and then pointed at Barth, "Nicely done, my sweet Mya."

Barth was then pulled towards Drakken as he looked at this with a panicked look, "L-Let go of me, you monster!" He shouted, "Your Grace!"

"Drakken! You.....!!" Jaehaerys said as he was held in place

Drakken looked at the Septon, "You...." He said, "You are a priest?"

Septon Barth looked at him, "I am a Septon of the Faith..." He said, "I-"

Drakken leaned in towards him, "I vanquished your Seven Warriors, representing your Faith." He said with a menacing tone, "There is only one god in these lands.....and that god is me....."

He then waved his arm and sent Barth sliding across the room, causing him to hit a pillar. He hit it hard but was not severely harmed.

"Four Years, Jaehaerys." Drakken said as he walked towards the doors of the Throne Room, "I'll return in four years. You best have my payment ready when I come and collect. Should she be damaged in any way....."

He stopped and glared at him while his eyes glowed, giving Jaehaerys a chill straight to his bones.

Drakken kept glaring at him,

"I'll slaughter every single one of you...!!"
