Chapter 13: Chapter 13: Queen Bee Divides the World in Three

Ever since Fang Yuan's awareness began growing stronger, he had an unshakable sense that something was strange about Wang Yuanyuan's tone. However, he couldn't pinpoint what exactly felt off.

After Wang Yuanyuan left, Fang Yuan took out the steel orb and began his routine inspection of its miniature world.

In the steel orb world, more than a hundred days had passed. The four bodyguards had fully adapted to life as primitives, wearing aprons woven from leaves. Without natural predators, their lives revolved around eating and sleeping, with their main threat being the bees.

The biggest change in the steel orb world was the bees. The queen bees, having been strengthened by the world's source energy, reproduced at an astonishing rate. The world was now completely dominated by bees, with bee corpses even floating on the water's surface.

Odd mutations began appearing among the bees.

Over the next few days, Fang Yuan closely monitored their development. On the fifth day, one of the queen bees birthed a new type of bee, significantly larger—about the size of two fingers. Strangely, these bees lacked wings and moved upright on four legs, using their upper limbs to carry small stones and dig holes.

By the seventh day, the population of these new bees had reached tens of thousands. Following orders from their queen, the new bees began constructing a peculiar two-meter-square structure from the stones they carried. Witnessing this, Fang Yuan was stunned. Were they evolving—or becoming sentient?

As the number of bees grew, competition for pollen became fierce. The queens began controlling their colonies, orchestrating battles between ordinary bees, resulting in massive casualties daily.

On the eighth day, the queen responsible for the new type of bee orchestrated a surprise attack, sending her mutated bees to dig tunnels and assassinate one of the rival queens. They succeeded, leaving only three queens remaining.

With one queen gone, the two other queens sensed danger and started adapting. One moved her hive into the trees, while the other relocated underwater. The underwater queen also began producing a new type of bee, smaller than the earlier mutants but with wings resembling a duck's, allowing them to move freely in water.

Thus, the steel orb world was divided into three realms. One queen ruled the land and began constructing buildings. Another dominated the trees, producing bees capable of extremely fast flight. The third ventured into aquatic evolution, producing bees that could fly and swim.

By this time, over thirty days had passed in the real world, equivalent to ten years within the steel orb. The accelerated timeline brought about changes that defied normal biological evolution, driven by the influence of the world's source energy.

In these ten years, one of the four bodyguards died, caught in the crossfire of the queen bees' wars. The other three, now resembling men in their fifties, remained resilient and alive. However, the chickens in the orb world were not so fortunate. Lacking intelligence and places to hide, they were hunted to extinction by the land-dwelling bees as food.

Fang Yuan realized that the world had become too small. Expanding it was becoming an urgent priority. Thanks to the bees' constant battles, the world's source energy had increased by 80,000 drops, leaving only 100,000 more to unlock further expansion.

One day, while pondering where to gather more soil for the next expansion, Wang Lili arrived carrying groceries.

"Lili?" Fang Yuan exclaimed joyfully. Wang Lili had been traveling for work recently, and he had missed her terribly.

Before Wang Lili could step into the kitchen, Fang Yuan pulled her onto the bed.

"Hey! What's the rush? We haven't even eaten yet, and I haven't showered..." Wang Lili protested, annoyed.

"Forget food. Let your husband take care of that for you now," Fang Yuan replied, pinning her down without a second thought.

Afterward, Wang Lili glared at Fang Yuan. "You're impossible. Why so impatient? Now I don't even have the energy to cook."

"No worries, I'll cook for you," Fang Yuan said with a grin, though Wang Lili quickly shoved him out of the kitchen.

"Don't mess around—just wait," she said.

Noticing her exhaustion, Fang Yuan used his awareness to cleanse her cells, rejuvenating her body. Wang Lili, cooking at the time, suddenly felt inexplicably refreshed, though she began sweating profusely, with her sweat appearing black and dirty.

"What's happening to me? I need a shower!" Wang Lili exclaimed, thinking she might be sick. After bathing, she emerged to find the meal prepared.

Fang Yuan's cooking skills weren't bad, and Wang Lili ate more than usual that evening. Despite her rejuvenated state, she didn't suspect anything unusual.

The next afternoon, as they woke up together, Wang Lili lay on Fang Yuan's chest, uncharacteristically silent.

"Lili, is something on your mind?" Fang Yuan asked.

Wang Lili shook her head.

"If you have something to say, just tell me. I might be able to help. I'm not as simple as I look," Fang Yuan teased.

"I know," Wang Lili replied with a forced smile. "A man who can make over a million selling earthworms isn't ordinary."

Then, she hesitated before continuing, "Fang Yuan, let's end this, okay?"

"What?" Fang Yuan froze. "What did you just say?"

"I'm sorry, Fang Yuan. I actually have a fiancé," Wang Lili confessed.

"When did this happen?" Fang Yuan demanded.

"Half a year ago," she replied.

"Then why did you come to me?" Fang Yuan asked, suppressing his anger.

"I'm sorry," Wang Lili murmured. "In college, I really did like you. I wanted to relive the feeling of being with someone I once loved. But now, I'm about to get married. I love my fiancé."

"And you don't love me?" Fang Yuan asked coldly.

"Do you love me?" Wang Lili countered. "Answer honestly. If you really love me, maybe I'll reconsider."

Fang Yuan hesitated. Did he love Wang Lili? She had been the one to initiate their relationship, and while he admired her beauty and enjoyed their time together, he realized he didn't truly miss her when they were apart.

"I see. You don't need to say anything more," Wang Lili said, smiling faintly as she got up.

Fang Yuan frowned, surprised at his own lack of anger or sadness. Instead, he felt a sense of regret. Was he single again?
