Hunter x Hunter : Germain Joins The Hunt

Chapter 230: Chapter 218 : Greed Island Update!!

"Give it a try?"

"How?"

The answer was simple: use the "Teleportation Lantern" to see where it leads, what scenes it reveals, what enemies it encounters, and whether it matches their expectations.

However, now wasn't the time to test it.

The four members of Germain's team were exhausted. Their supplies were nearly depleted and needed replenishment. Jumping into another dangerous exploration at this moment wasn't ideal.

Still, that didn't stop them from discussing their next target during lunch.

Germain's nightmare dream, what it represented, and whether it was real or just a result of his overthinking, wasn't brought up for discussion. They couldn't draw any conclusions from it.

Instead, the focus was on the eleven newly discovered "Teleportation Lanterns" that undeniably existed.

Now, they had more destinations to choose from, with a wider range of options.

Germain's Tomb Hunter's Black Robe had been badly damaged in their recent battle, leaving him in tatters. He was now wearing a plain shirt from a card they had unsealed, making him look oddly out of place.

He said, "I think our next target should be the 'Immortal Disease Zobae' and the 'Alchemical Plant Metallion.'"

"Here are my three reasons. First, the danger level of the 'Immortal Disease Zobae' is the same as the 'Brion the Botanical Weapon'—both rated B+. In many ways, it's even less dangerous than Brion."

"Second, the 'Herb for All-illnesses' is the antidote to the 'Immortal Disease Zobae.'"

"Don Freecss may have approached it differently than us, but he solved the 'Immortal Disease Zobae' with the 'Herb for All-illnesses.'"

"Third, the 'Alchemical Plant Metallion' provides an obvious boost to combat effectiveness."

The "Alchemical Plant Metallion" wasn't just for alchemy.

In fact, according to the New World Chronicles: Eastern Edition (Fragment), it was a unique plant capable of "enchanting" physical attacks.

Germain's analysis seemed well thought out.

"In that case..." Ging took a big bite of his hamburger, swallowed, and said, "You guys can head back tonight, and I'll stay here at the tower until you're ready."

By "tonight," Ging meant midnight on the 28th.

"You're staying here?" Bisky was surprised. Ging hadn't told her or Shizuku that he planned to stay behind in the "Ancient Labyrinth."

Ging glanced at Germain before answering, "Yes, I'll stay here. That way, the next time you guys come to the Dark Continent, the team will have one more available slot."

"You just need to leave most of the consumables here, along with a small portion of the 'Herb for All-illnesses.' Then, take the majority of the 'Herb for All-illnesses' back to Greed Island. That works for me."

"Menchi, Buhara, Sanbica, Dwun, List, and Razor prepared an excess of 'resource cards' for us in case of emergencies."

"Leave your share with me. With the 'Ancient Labyrinth Tower' acting as a safehouse, I can hold out here until the end of the year without any major issues."

Bisky glanced at Germain, noticing that he didn't object. She realized that these two men must have secretly discussed this plan behind her and Shizuku's backs and had already reached an agreement.

At the same time, she understood that one of Ging's long-standing wishes was to explore the unknown parts of the Dark Continent, searching for Don Freecss and New World Chronicles: Western Chapter. Ging had no intention of going back.

Fine, fine, let him do as he wishes.

After thinking it over, she sighed and said, "It's your life; it's your choice. We'll respect whatever decision you make."

"As for me, once I return to Greed Island, I'll take one of the 'Herb for All-illnesses' and use it to negotiate with the old man for more support."

By "old man," she, of course, meant Chairman Netero.

Ging nodded. "I'll leave that to you. You're the only one here who truly understands Chairman Netero's personality. Also, when you return, find Dwun and List—they'll give you the promised 'Blue Planet.'"

"Tch." Bisky rolled her eyes. "Don't think you can buy me off with some petty gift. The 'Blue Planet' was mine to begin with."

Still, judging from her expression and body language, hearing those words put her in a good mood.

Ging then turned to Germain. "I actually have two favors to ask of you."

"What is it?" Germain asked.

"First, the 'game console' I brought with me isn't working. Take it back to Dwun and List. Have them modify it and wait for an opportunity to use it later."

"Second, Greed Island will need your help. Our actions will eventually cause some repercussions there, and since I won't be returning anytime soon, I'll have to rely on you to take care of things."

Germain seemed thoughtful and said, "I thought you'd ask me to take care of your disciple, Kite, or maybe your son, Gon."

Ging paused, then scratched his head with a helpless smile. "Let's not talk about them… As long as they haven't lost their curiosity about the world, we'll definitely meet again."

"About that…" Germain suddenly spoke up. "I have a suggestion."

"Let's hear it," Ging said.

Germain, looking serious, said, "I want to make some changes to the nature of the Greed Island game you all created, using it to select suitable 'team members.'"

"In the future, we'll need talent from all fields. Searching for them one by one is too inefficient. We need a stable way to recruit people."

Everyone widened their eyes slightly, clearly surprised.

Ging frowned in thought for a moment before asking, "How do you plan to do that?"

"I don't know much about game creation," Germain admitted honestly. "I just want to propose a general direction. The details can be left to Razor, Dwun, and List."

Ging couldn't help but laugh. "Isn't this just like what I did back then? Razor and the others are definitely going to have headaches dealing with you… So, what's your big idea?"

"Keep Greed Island's main framework but divide it into smaller regions, making the necessary changes and expanding the structures," Germain explained. He paused before continuing, "You've always marketed it as a 'game for Nen users,' haven't you? So why not fully commit to that concept?"

"Apprentices should go to the 'Apprentice-Level' area, Adventurers to the 'Adventurer-Level' area, and Elites to the 'Elite-Level' area… Of course, if they want to challenge higher levels, they're free to do so."

"In the Six Continents today, Nen users who either awaken their abilities actively or by accident face a critical choice."

"They can either stay in their comfort zone, using Nen to play the role of a charlatan or superhero in a small field, or they can leave everything behind, explore the Six Continents, and challenge strong opponents and powerful magical beasts."

"Both paths can improve their Nen abilities, but the latter has a far higher chance of reaching the top or becoming one of the best. However, it comes with risks."

"You advance by stepping over the failures of others, but who's to say one day you won't become someone else's stepping stone?"

"Since Greed Island is called the 'Game for Nen Users,' we can put effort into making it a smoother and more stable environment for growth," said Germain.

"My goal is that any Nen user who clears Greed Island will at least reach the 'elite level.' The new version should focus more on enhancing Nen abilities and battles that combine those abilities with card strategies."

"Additionally, we need to penalize and remove players who specifically hunt down other players—the so-called 'red-name players'—to ensure a better experience for newcomers."

"But regardless of whether they reach the end of the game, those who excel with their Nen abilities will stand out. We'll monitor them, give them a final trial, and attempt to recruit them," he continued.

Germain shared a lot of ideas—mostly general directions—but aside from Shizuku, both Ging and Bisky understood his points.

"I don't oppose this plan," Ging said thoughtfully, stroking his chin. "However, you'll need to convince Razor, Dwun, List, Eta, and Elena first."

"To be honest, I've been away from Greed Island for too long. Those people are the real operators of the game. If you can get them on board, I won't stand in your way."

"I can record a video explaining why I'm staying in the Dark Continent and express my support for your plan, but beyond that, you'll need to handle it yourself," Ging added.

"Still, I think the chances of them agreeing are pretty high. Dwun, in particular, has long been dissatisfied with several aspects of Greed Island as it is now. He's the one most eager for a major version update."

Ging immediately informed Germain that the first person he needed to unite after returning to Greed Island was Dwun if he wanted to push through such a significant reform.

With that, their discussion mostly wrapped up.

Shizuku used Blinky to collect a total of 108 plain-looking Herb for All-illnessess. She left 30 for Ging, while the rest were to be taken back to Greed Island.

It couldn't be helped—defeating the Bloodthirsty Apostle of Pain didn't yield too many Herb for All-illnessess in one go, so 108 was already a significant haul.

In addition, Germain, Bisky, and Shizuku handed all their cards over to Ging. This ensured that his day-to-day needs were covered and that the storage of the Herb for All-illnessess was secured.

With that, their discussions concluded.
