I Joined the Sentai Heroes Who Were Beautiful Girls Other Than Me but the Heroines Were All Yanderangers

chapter 62

62. Proposal Response 1

As usual, in the middle of the sterile white corridor, a door suddenly appears with only the word ‘Green’ written on it.

“What kind of face should I meet her with? What should I say first?”

Hello? Congratulations on being discharged? I’m glad you’re okay?

“No, it’s weird to overthink it. Just be normal, with normal tension, and do it smoothly.”

Just by thinking about it like this, it’s hard to do it normally, and I can’t help but notice that I’m stuck in a quagmire of thought. Since I don’t know how she’s feeling right now, I figured it was useless to think about it gave any further, so I up and turned my gaze to the doorknob.

Was Uguisu-san’s room door always this heavy? I’m scared to open it because I feel like I won’t be able to go back once I do. But I can’t go back anymore.

“Okay, let’s go!”

At the same time as I made up my mind and reached for the doorknob, gacha, the door opened on its own from the other side.

“It was Sora-san after all.”

Peeking out from beyond the door was Uguisu-san, her complexion good and her usual cheerful smile on her face.

“I heard a noise outside my room. What’s wrong? Why are you standing here?”

“Ah. Well, that’s…”

“Fufu, by any chance, were you embarrassed? I feel the same way… Please come in quickly because I want to talk to Sora-san soon.”

Uguisu-san is surprisingly Yuanji for someone who was just discharged from the hospital today. Her high ponytail is as shiny as ever, and the beige apron with mimosa embroidery suits her well. Now that I think about it, she was wearing this outfit the last time I came to her room.

“Does that mean, by any chance…”

Before I could say, “Excuse me,” the scent that confirmed my reasoning drifted in.

“Were you cooking?”

“Yes, the preparations are already done, so all that’s left is to heat it up and bake it.”

I wonder if it’s beef stew or something. The rich aroma fills the small room.

“You were just discharged from the hospital today, so shouldn’t you not push yourself too hard…”

“Even though I was admitted to the hospital, the latter half was mostly just for ‘just in case’ tests. I started feeling better at an early stage. Until now, I wouldn’t have been able to return to my normal life this quickly, but that…”

Uguisu-san, who had been calm until then, hesitated for a moment there, her cheeks flushed.

“Sora-san’s love… has changed me.”

“Huh!?”

She must have been embarrassed after she said it because she immediately looked away and started fanning her face with her hands.

This is embarrassing for me, too, listening to her. I’m sure I’ve been told much more intense things before, but when she acts like a normal, love-struck maiden like this, I can’t help but be taken aback. I feel like I’ve gotten somewhat used to yandere, but my romantic experience isn’t high enough to be able to ignore pure reactions calmly.

“Th-that’s why you don’t have to worry about my body!”

Anyway, I’m relieved to see that she’s so cheerful, considering that she was on the verge of death two weeks ago. My judgment at that time wasn’t wrong. Seeing Uguisu-san so cheerful, I can be sure of that.

Uguisu-san gave me some cold tea as I sat down on the same light blue cushion as last time. It was thankful since it was hot outside.

“Also, I wanted Sora-san to eat my cooking again… You’ll have dinner with me, won’t you?”

Hearing those words, I withdraw my hand that was placed reaching for the sky-blue glass before me.

“Is there a serving for me too?”

Last time, I was treated to a delicious dry curry omelet rice, but I was probably drugged with something like a sleeping pill. Strangely, I didn’t feel like I had been drugged, and I woke up in the nearby park. Uguisu- san insisted that she “didn’t know” about it, so it was left ambiguous, but I can’t help but feel uneasy about eating food made by someone with a criminal record. Moreover, I haven’t been able to watch her cook this time, so I really don’t know what’s in it.

“Was it perhaps an inconvenience?”

I couldn’t help but check that all of Uguisu-san’s fingers were intact, and she looked at me with sad eyes, making it impossible for me to be assertive.

“Oh, did you not like the meal last time? It’s okay, I took more time this time, and I didn’t make any unusual arrangements. If there’s a flavor you don’t like, I’ll make it again right now . I still have ingredients, and, well, I made the sauce, but I also bought some store-bought sauce, so if you don’t like the homemade taste…”

Uguisu-san’s anxious attempts to follow up with me as I silently pondered made me feel bad. This is a dinner that she, still recovering from her illness, has prepared for me, so I can’t just ignore it.

“N-no, I’m very happy. I just thought I should let my family know that I won’t be home for dinner.”

“Oh! That’s right, I’m sorry. I should have told you earlier. I was so happy to have dinner with Sora-san that I didn’t think about it.”

She says such cute things, making me feel guilty about being so preoccupied with the possibility of foreign objects in her food. If I told her that I have allergies and that there are certain medications I can’t take, maybe she would reconsider. Or that I hate people who blaspheme food… Yeah, I’ll figure out how to defend myself. I don’t think she’ll harm me… Probably, at least for now.

“I made hamburgers for dinner today. I forgot to ask Sora-san what you like, so I looked it up online, and it said that men love meat dishes. Is that right?”

Well, it’s not entirely wrong, but my favorite food is cold soba noodles, Uguisu-san.

“Also, it said that men don’t like fancy dishes or small portions of organic food, and that they prefer simple, classic dishes. Sora-san is a boy, so I thought about what kind of classic meat dish would be filling. So I was between hamburgers and fried chicken, but I didn’t know if Sora-san likes thigh meat or breast meat, so I made hamburgers.”

“You’ve put a lot of thought into this. Thank you.”

It’s a simple choice, almost like a child’s meal, but it’s probably a menu that most men would enjoy. I don’t think any man would be unhappy if a beautiful woman like Uguisu-san made this much effort for him.

“But you don’t have to worry so much about my preferences. I eat almost anything.”

My own food preferences are quite varied. The fact that my favorite foods are rich ramen and cold soba noodles should give you an idea, but I don’t have any particular. I’m the type of person who doesn’t care if the chicken in fried chicken is from a certain part of the bird or if someone randomly adds lemon to it.

“Next time, I’d like to eat something that Uguisu-san likes.”

“Sora-san…”

She placed her hand on her cheek as if savoring those simple words and sat down across from me. She straightened her back and stared at me intently, and I could clearly see that her fair skin was flushed.

I have a feeling this isn’t going to end well.

“Sora-san. About my proposal that day…”

Gulp, the sound of saliva being swallowed echoed in the quiet room. My heart was pounding so loudly that I couldn’t tell whose it was.

“I love Sora-san. I’m very happy to be able to officially become your wife. I’m not very good at it, but please take care of me.”
