Chapter 5: Anomaly
Two green humanoid looking creatures were using a weird glass looking thing to look farther than their eyes can see.
They didn't know how it works, but it was useful to them. From a far away distance, they could see the dusty cloud forming in a certain direction.
The mana radiating from the far away creature spiked for a moment and then reduced drastically. Curious of the whole commotion, they both started walking in that direction.
These goblins were scouts. Their camp was raided by the humans, hence they had to venture into this forest to find a suitable new place.
As they neared the area, an ominous feeling tugged their heart. They emerged from the bushes only to witness a nightmare.
A human sitting on top of a Minotaur with blood dripping from his head. His black hair had patches of red.
His golden brown eyes; void of any emotion, looked straight at the goblins. The goblins trembled in fear. Panicking, one of the scout goblins shot an arrow with its crossbow.
Around 130fps or approximately 40 meters per second. I could catch it, but will likely burn my hands a little. Dodging is a much safer option.
My reflexes kicked in and I dodged the arrow in the nick of the time. My body is clearly not in its prime. Even though I processed the arrow coming, It was uncomfortably close.
Two 'goblins' huh? I think I can handle them. They trembled in fear and ran away before I could even get down from this Minotaur.
If I remember correctly, this whole scenario is called getting Isekaid. I like the sound of that word.
I looked down at the minitor corpse.
But still, to think that I will go into adrenaline mode right after slicing one of its carotid arteries. Even when its neck was half sliced, it still moved with the intent to kill me.
For a moment he remembered how he dug into its artery with his bare hands. Evading from its hands, poking one of its eyes out. It was gross, but needed for survival.
As he was contemplating what to do next, suddenly a black haired girl, gradient red eyes with a purple aura surrounding her appeared in front of him.
She manifested in the time frame of Axel blinking his eyes. She was floating in the air. His instincts went overdrive once more.
"Calm down boy. I am not here to hurt you."
Her voice sounded like a melody, she snapped her fingers. The next moment, Axel found himself falling to the ground. The dead Minotaur was gone, so did the blood stains on him.
His eyes widened in shock. He balanced himself only to look up to see her missing. Suddenly he felt the sensation of a hand placed on his right shoulder.
He turned around to look at the beauty smiling at him. She has no presence. It's like nothingness.
He can only see ner because she allows him to do so, and he knows that.
That thought put him at unease. He had a lot of questions. A lot. But the most concerning matter was, can he survive this encounter?
"Here, have this portrait as a welcoming gift." She handed me something out of thin air.
It was a chart. I scrolled it open without any questions. A portrait of my fight.
Every single micro details were captured. I noticed certain things in the picture, but didn't ask her about it.
I looked up to see her eyes. Red captivating eyes, a contagious innocent smile, powers beyond belief.
"Shall I take it that you didn't have any intention or use in helping me?" I asked her.
She tilted her head in slight confusion.
"Oh... Yea, true. It's true isn't it? What can you even offer?" Her voice instilled obviousness.
"I assume you know of my origin. That I am not from this world." My statement caused her to widen her eyes.
Did I say something I shouldn't have ? She did say it was a welcoming gift. So I assumed she knew.
"Interesting… so you don't actually think of certain things. Wait for a second Axel."
Saying my name out of nowhere, she suddenly touched my face. My body became numb and I couldn't resist.
At this moment, I realized I met a real expert. Whatever I survive this encounter or not is not up to me. What an unfortunate luck do I have? Did I annihilated an entire planet in my previous life to have such unfortunate life since birth.
***
Axel suddenly felt like he fell into an endless void. There was nothing to look around. There was no light. He couldn't even look at his own body.
All his senses, all of his sensations were robbed from him. Except his consciousness. His thoughts were clearly there, but there were nothing to interact with.
It was only his thoughts.
Something resonated deep within him. A vibration. A voice calling him.
"-el Axel!!"
He jolted up, only to see the same mysterious girl waking him up. They were inside a room.
Axel analysed his surroundings. Small paintings, furniture, the bed he was laying right now. The floor was made out of wood, so is the roof.
"Finally you got up." The girl in question excitedly bounced around.
'What happened? Where am I?' was his very first thoughts.
"Hey hey, look at me. Don't worry, nothing happened. We are in the Silverstone city in the Sahira kingdom."
"So my hunch was correct. You can read my mind." Axel stated.
"Yes I can. You can call me Lyvia." Lyvia laughed a little.
Axel thought about for a moment and his heartbeat slow down a little. Since she brought him out from that forest, he could only assume that she was not hostile.
Axel stood up to look outside the window.
A busy street with a lot of medieval looking humans. He saw multiple shops on the side of the streets. Guards patrolling. It was around noon.
"How long was I asleep?" He questioned, thinking about the ways to survive.
"A couple of hours" Lyvia answered in a bored fashion.
"Can you do me a favour?" He asked, turning to look at her.
She raised her eyebrows.
"Why should I?" She was arranging some kind of
glowing stones, inspecting them.
"You took the whole body of a Minotaur I killed. I can guess it had some valuable materials, like the skin, its horn, or even the stone that you are inspecting right now." He stated in his classic
monotone voice.
She chuckled at his statement.
"Very astute indeed. But are they worth your life?" She asked, giving him a side eye.
Axel, thinking it was a threat, raised his guard to maximum, expecting a sudden attack.
"Calm down boy. That's not what I meant. The forest you were in, was filled with monsters way above your leagues. within 24 hrs your body would have been in the monsters bellies. I saved your life by bringing you here."
She started humming, packing her things.
Axel was skeptical of many things, but
refrained himself from asking about it.
"So, what do you want?"
Hearing the exact thing she wanted to hear, Lyvia jumped up, clapping her hands in excitement.
"Great question. Before we talk about that. I will give you some kind of pre payment. I will answer all your questions."
Axel opened the window, letting cool breeze enter the room.
"How did you know my name?" He asked, making her release a sigh.
"I can read minds duh"
"I didn't think my name. Can I assume you can extract and analyse any part of the memory?" He asked, sitting on the windowsill, enjoying the scenery.
"Yes I can."
"....I see..."
"Yes I do know about your past. Your so called suffering from birth, your father, your dreams, everything."
As if reading his mind, she answered everything.
Axel took a deep breath. Nobody will feel comfortable with his privacy invaded, not to mention reading his memories like a book. Don't they have a civilian rights here?
"Ah, we don't do that here." Lyvia waved her hands, reminding me of a certain meme I saw recently.
"You are correct, nobody cares about something like rights in this world, only with strength can you have them. so you don't need to worry much." She continued.
That was fairly easy to deduce. Her body language, her small micro movements during the conversation, her astonishment. It felt like she deliberately gave away those signs for him to deduce these things.
Once again she chuckled.
"Didn't I say you were interesting? You made conclusions without forming proper thoughts. It's almost like you hide your own thoughts."
So that's why. That makes sense. Those were simple conclusions, so I didn't need to explicitly think about.
"What else? Ask away?"
"Can I return to my world?" hearing my question, she made a thinking expression.
"Axel…you're an anomaly!"
