Chapter 35
Su Yuqing quickly assessed the condition of the person in bed, extracting antipyretic pills from his medical kit that he had made himself. He fed two pills to him, followed by a series of needle injections.
Only then did Shi Yi begin to calm down, his previously furrowed brows finally relaxing, though he continued to mumble.
As he inserted the needle, he discreetly leaned in to listen, catching snippets of what he was saying: “Pei Xing wasn’t dead, and we were already married.”
In shock, Su Yuqing glanced at Pei Xing beside him. Seeing his reddened eyes, his sorrowful expression, and his intense focus on the person on the bed, he knew he must have heard it clearly.
Pei Zhengchen possessed exceptional martial arts skills and a profound internal strength; Su Yuqing suspected the man had heard the mumbles long ago. Witnessing their deep emotional connection as a couple, he couldn’t help but be moved and tried to comfort him.
“He developed a fever due to the shock. It’s not a severe illness. A couple of doses of medicine, and he’ll be fine. Don’t worry too much.” He assured Pei Xing.
Pei Xing thanked him and asked a waiter to prepare some herbal decoction.
Shi Yi took the two fever-reducing pills, and his fever began to subside. However, he remained sweaty and uncomfortable, with his clothes sticking to his skin. In his sleep, he kept tugging at his clothes uncomfortably.
Pei Xing took his hand, lifted him up, cradled him in his arms, and offered him a sip of the medicinal broth.
Shi Yi’s face scrunched up in discomfort, and he promptly vomited out the liquid.
Pei Xing swiftly wiped it away with a handkerchief and, rather than using a spoon, took a sip himself. He then opened his mouth, covered it, and fed the medicine.
As the liquid passed through his throat, Shi Yi coughed a few times. The bitterness lingered in his mouth, but he became more alert. Upon seeing Pei Xing holding him, he immediately snuggled into his arms and called his name repeatedly, his voice tinged with emotion.
Pei Xing comforted him, hugging him and offering soothing words until Shi Yi calmed down.
Still somewhat groggy from a series of dreams, Shi Yi found solace in Pei Xing’s warm embrace. He was reassured by the knowledge that Pei Xing was safe.
“The medicine will cool soon. Let’s finish it now,” Pei Xing suggested.
Shi Yi reluctantly pulled his head out of Pei Xing’s arms, gazing at the dark liquid in the cup. The bitterness lingered in his mouth, and he hesitated. “This medicine is too bitter. I don’t want to drink it,” he complained.
Pei Xing didn’t relent; instead, he took a sip himself and then fed it to Shi Yi one sip at a time. Afterward, he offered a piece of honey to counteract the bitterness.
Seeing tears welling up in Shi Yi’s eyes and his once rosy lips now pale, Pei Xing couldn’t help but feel a pang of sadness.
“I want to take a shower. I feel so uncomfortable,” Shi Yi expressed, tugging at his sticky clothes, his brows furrowed.
Pei Xing lifted him and took him to the bathroom. They bathed together in warm water and then he dressed Shi Yi in clean clothes before placing him on the bed. Soon, Shi Yi drifted back to sleep, only waking up the next morning.
With the news of Prince Chengyang’s capture and their subsequent dispersal, Baiyin City returned to its bustling state. Pei Xing changed the shopkeeper and transferred Zhou Hua from Xiangshan County to manage the store.
.
Upon learning that Pei Zhengchen would soon return to Xizhou, Shi Yi promptly wrote a letter. After completing it, he realized he had used 21st-century simplified Chinese characters. He asked Pei Xing to rewrite the letter for him.
Considering that winter was approaching, Shi Yi also purchased some warm clothing and shoes.
Pei Xing concealed the Huiming Pill and the Golden Marrow Pill inside and handed them to Su Yuqing.
Su Yuqing, observing the two bottles of valuable medicine worth a fortune, couldn’t help but be astonished. He remembered that Xie Yu had received medicines from Pei Xing over the years and held great respect for this man.
“For most people, obtaining one of these four great elixirs is a significant achievement. But for you, they seem almost like running water.,” Su Yuqing marveled, shaking his head. He also recalled the price of these pills weren’t small at all.
The Golden Bone Marrow Pill had a miraculous effect on martial arts practitioners. Long-term use could purify the marrow, strengthen bones, and transform the body into a powerhouse of strength, significantly enhancing internal power.
True to its name, the Huiming Pill detoxified the body from various poisons and turned human flesh into resilient bones. Prolonged use could make the body immune to toxins.
Chixue Powder was a remarkable remedy for treating injuries and stopping bleeding, while Gel Cream was a magical emollient and nourishing elixir, effective both internally and externally for anti-aging and maintaining everlasting beauty. It was highly coveted by some women.
“Shi Yi has weak bones and physical frailty. Since you have an abundance of these medicines, consider giving him some Gel Cream and Huiming Pills. The Golden Marrow Pill is too potent for him, so give it to him in intervals, maybe one every three months.”
Pei Xing had previously given Shi Yi a Golden Marrow Pill, but because he knew it was used by martial artists to strengthen muscles, bones, and internal power, he was cautious not to give him too much. He had primarily relied on the Gel Cream and Huiming Pill.
Now, hearing this, he felt more at ease. While these medicines might be rare for others, they were easily accessible to him. If he ever ran low, he could simply go to Shihun Mountain to gather herbs and refined more.
.
A few days later, Pei Zhengchen and Su Yuqing departed for Xizhou, while Pei Xing and Shi Yi set off for Zhongzhou. Xie Yu remained behind to manage follow-up matters related to Chengyang County’s affairs.
Upon reaching Zhongzhou, they headed directly to Xiyue Pavilion. This loft’s design was even more lavish than Huanyue Tower. Upon entering, they encountered a sumptuously adorned octagonal stage with overhead crystal lamps and a group of graceful dancers twirling elegantly.
Pei Xing steered him toward the inner courtyard without looking around. As soon as Xiao Liu spotted Shi Yi, he rushed to him.
Shi Yi hugged him and spun him around, and just when he was about to kiss him, he hesitated, glanced at Pei Xing, and ruffled Xiao Liu’s hair instead.
Pei Xing noticed his actions and a playful smile gleamed in his eyes. He wrapped an arm around Shi Yi’s waist and squeezed it, whispering in his ear, “My dear, you’re quite obedient.”
Shi Yi’s ears turned red as he silently contemplated, he had no future. He continued to chat while holding Xiao Liu, and Pei Xing mentioned being exhausted after the long journey. He then led him to their room, which had a layout identical to their home in Bihaiyuan.
.
Pei Xing bit his lip and teased, “Why are you so active?”
Shi Yi turned his head, brushed his little hands across his abdominal muscles, and breathed heavily, saying, “I’m quite healthy. Isn’t that enough?”
Upon hearing this, Pei Xing paused, heaved a deep sigh into Shi Yi’s neck, composed himself for a moment, and carried him to the bed.
Shi Yi gave him a curious look, not expecting him to let go so easily. Suppressing his dismay, he smuggled into Pei Xing’s arms and initiated some playful teasing by using his hands to ignite the fire.
Pei Xing gritted his teeth, captured Shi Yi’s hands, held his wrists, and pinned them above his head. He used his other hand to playfully stroke Shi Yi’s soft belly.
Shi Yi immediately surrendered, laughing uncontrollably and begging for mercy.
After a brief tickling session, Pei Xing released him, pulled Shi Yi into his embrace, and playfully smacked him twice.
“Behave yourself and stop being so playful.”
Shi Yi retaliated by biting his shoulder, causing his robust muscles to nearly knock out Shi Yi’s teeth. Shi Yi sighed and asked, “Why are the muscles on your body so strong?”
Pei Xing responded with a mysterious smile and said, “Every part of my body isn’t that strong.”
Shi Yi playfully scolded him as a pervert.
