I Was Sold to My Mortal Enemy (Double Transmigrations)

Chapter 34

Shi Yi shivered, goosebumps dotting his skin, and he sensed something wrong with Xie Yu, leaning closer to Pei Xing.

Pei Xing believed Shi Yi was frightened and encircled him in his arms, comforting him by patting his back and whispering into his ear, “Don’t be afraid.”

Unaware that Shi Yi wasn’t afraid but had misgivings about Xie Yu, Shi Yi’s little face was pressed again hard chest, and found it difficult to breathe. His body was trapped by Pei Xing;s arms, he couldn’t move.

‘Who is afraid?’

He wasn’t afraid at all, he just thought Xie Yu was a little weird.

Shi Yi was choked by his embrace and stretched out his little hand and pinched Pei Xing’s waist, signaling to let go.

Pei Xing held the rebellious hand firmly, rubbing it gently as he said, “Don’t touch it. Behave.”

Shi Yi, exasperated, pushed him away and exclaimed, “Let go, I can’t breathe!” He was somewhat annoyed.

Pei Xing relented, releasing him and pinching his cheek.

Meanwhile, Xie Yu watched them chatting amiably and saw no signs of fear or urgency in response to the enemy. He chuckled openly, paying no heed to the unfolding situation.

However, Prince Chengyang’s face darkened considerably. He pointed at Xie Yu’s nose and berated him loudly, “Xie Yu! Why don’t you stay in your Liang Mansion and keep out of other people’s affairs? Don’t think you can act without restraint with the backing of your father!”

Xie Yu sneered, “Act without restraint? I’m afraid that the prince surpasses us in that regard. Over the years, you’ve grown bolder, and your appetite has expanded within Baiyin City. Your audacity knows no bounds.”

“Who do you think you are? You’re not even worth mentioning!” Prince Chengyang raged, stating out of frustration, “Your father’s ascension to the throne was due to our Liu family. If the Empress Dowager had borne a child, it wouldn’t be your father who would have ascended the throne. How ungrateful you are to dare to threaten the Liu family!”

“The prince had such a strong tone.” Xie Yu looked at him, didn’t know what he was thinking, “Such arrogance must have found a backer for himself.”

Prince Chengyang suddenly broke into a cold sweat, thinking that Xie Yu might have some knowledge about his actions. His eyes flashed as he saw through Xie Yu’s ruse.

Observing Xie Yu’s indifferent demeanor and his weary expression, he realized he might be overthinking things. Those matters were clandestine, with those involved being devoted men who wouldn’t spill the beans. This little bastard spent most of his time gallivanting and couldn’t possibly know his secrets.

Although he knew Xie Yu was bluffing, Prince Chengyang exercised restraint and refrained from arguing further. He pulled out a bloodied figure and flung it in front of Pei Xing, his face twisted, and gruffly said, “Go take a good look which one it is. I’ll kill him to avenge my daughter.”

The man, gravely injured, appeared like a tortured soul. His body was mutilated as if he’d undergone Ling Chi. Covered in intersecting wounds, his face was carved to pieces. Rotten flesh dangled from his face, and it dripped with blood.

Shi Yi, overwhelmed with fear, took two steps back, his legs trembling, and he witnessed the true brutality of the Prince of Chengyang County.

The man’s life was on the brink, and upon clearly seeing Shi Yi’s terror-stricken countenance, he lunged towards him like a malevolent ghost. Pei Xing intervened, pushing the man away and reaching out to shield Shi Yi.

Shi Yi clung to Pei Xing’s waist, trembling uncontrollably, his complexion ashen.

Pei Xing encircled Shi Yi in his arms, rubbed the back of his head, and glared at Prince Chengyang with an intense gaze.

Furious, the Prince of Chengyang County resembled a raging beast, glaring at the two of them with a savage expression and shouting angrily, “Catch them for me!”

Instantly, another group of soldiers clad in black armor with a tiger emblem on their chests marched in unison, converging around Prince Chengyang. Their leader casted a cold, ruthless glare at Prince Chengyang and raised a piece of vibrant yellow brocade, speaking in a cold, relentless tone.

“According to His Majesty’s orders, the Prince of Chengyang County intends to rebel. He will be immediately escorted back to the capital. If he disobeys, he will be killed on the spot.”

Prince Chengyang’s faces suddenly turned pale, his fat body shook, and a sudden feeling of resentment rushed into his heart.

He stared at Xie Yu with fiery eyes, drew a large knife, and was about to strike at him. The leader quickly unsheathed a long knife from his waist and struck back at him.

Before Shi Yi had time to comprehend what was happening, Pei Xing covered his eyes, and then he heard the piercing screams of Prince Chengyang. The group leader kicked the severed knife aside with an expressionless face.

The leader nodded half-heartedly to Xie Yu, turned to the wailing Prince of Chengyang on the ground, and said, “If you have any complaints, Prince, you can address them to His Majesty. Avoid unnecessary actions.”

The trained guards swiftly came and went. After they left, only a trace of blood remained on the courtyard ground, while the severed arm and body had vanished.

.

Shi Yi felt a bone-chilling sensation, his body trembling uncontrollably, his face drained of color, and his eyes fixed on the pool of blood on the ground.

Xie Yu, seeing his extreme fear, had no words to offer and retreated to his room with Qin Yue.

Pei Xing promptly carried Shi Yi back to their room until they both laid on the bed.

Shi Yi couldn’t stop trembling all over, pressing his entire body tightly against his arms.

“Aren’t you afraid?” Shi Yi asked.

Hearing his trembling voice, Pei Xing felt pity and kissed him.

Shi Yi was very cooperative this time and allowed him to kiss him. When it ended, the corners of his eyes were red.

Pei Xing kissed his red eyes tenderly and said warmly, “I’ve experienced many such things in my memory, and I’ve grown numb to them.”

Shi Yi understood he was referring to the memories left by his original body, and he couldn’t help but feel the world was incredibly cruel.

Pei Xing held him tightly and said, “This doesn’t happen often. It just happened to coincide this time.”

Shi Yi buried his head in his arms and clung tightly to his waist.

Pei Xing consoled him repeatedly in a gentle voice.

Eventually, Shi Yi fell asleep, but his sleep was filled with vivid red images.

One moment, it was a gruesome face mangled with blood and flesh; the next, it was a horrific scream.

His entire being seemed to be sucked into an endless whirlpool, plummeting ceaselessly. Somehow, he returned to the present time. In a daze, someone told him that Pei Xing had died. He sobbed so intensely that his throat choked, rendering him speechless. Yet Pei Xing wasn’t dead at all; they were already married, but he couldn’t grasp the reality.

.

At dawn, Pei Xing hastily left the yard with Shi Yi in his arms.

Xie Yu and Qin Yue heard the commotion and hurried to catch up with him. When they saw Shi Yi in his arms, feverish and muttering, they urged him, “Don’t fret, we’ll find my sister-in-law. His medical skills surpass those of the city’s doctors.”

With that, they rushed to Feixue Pavilion. Pei Xing quickly brought Shi Yi back to the room, and Qin Yue sought a bottle of liquor from the restaurant waiter.

Glancing at Shi Yi on the bed, he was deeply concerned that Shi Yi might lose his sanity.

Pei Xing unbuttoned Shi Yi’s clothes and used the liquor to cool him down.

As soon as Qin Yue exited after giving the liquor, he encountered Xie Yu, who wore a wry smile and massaged his head followed by Pei Zhengchen and Su Yuqing behind him.

Su Yuqing walked in with medicine box and Pei Zhengchen looked at Qin Yue, asked, “How is he?”

Qin Yue thought of the shuanger who was unconscious from fever on the bed and gave sincere answer, “It’s not very good. I’m afraid he might die.”

Pei Zhengchen turned black and kicked him, pointed at the two people, “Get out of here. Don’t be an eyesore.”

Qin Yue pulled Xie Yu away in despair and asked in low voice, “Why is general so angry?”

“His desire wasn’t vented, so he can only take his anger on us.” Xie Yu rubbed the extra big bump on his head.
