Chapter 12: Made for each other
Neva and Rhett had boarded on a bus. Neva sat by the window seat, the clear window slightly opened. Beside her sat Rhett, gazing at Neva with those deep eyes of his. The breeze flowing strands of her hair, here and then itching Neva's face.
She has been dozing off. Looking so sweet and serene. Rhett knows, he's in love with her. Falling deeper and harder, and there's no road he would take to reverse the life he has had before her.
Her head slowly drooping down, leaning against the window. He caresses her head softly, placing on his shoulder. She moves a little, and it scares him, perhaps she wouldn't like it, perhaps he woke her up.
He breathes in relief, the girl only wished to adjust her form resting on him, and be cosier. He smiles, wishing nothing, then to just kiss her soul out.
Far moments later, the bus makes bizarre noises and halts abruptly. The passengers jerks forward, holding onto the back of the seat in front. Neva's no exception, but the man by her side holds her securely. Her eyes remain dizzy and widened in wonder. What had just happened?
Her peaceful nap had been shattered. She glances at the man beside her, safe arms around her. She meets his worried eyes, he's all composed and cool, yet the curses shoved towards the driver and the vehicle remains unheard. For their sugary little while had been mercilessly messed with.
"Are you fine?" He asks. Neva nods, removing herself from his hold. The dizziness from the soothing ride, vanishing.
The driver had dashed out to check the matter with his bus. He informs the passengers a scant minute later. "There seems to be some electrical issues with the engine. I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but you have to get off here."
The passengers, quietly to themselves calls him names, yet gets off still. Pretty cranky at such timing and endless street—vacant grassy meadows on each of the sides.
"We're just twenty minutes away from home. We can walk, what do you say?" Rhett suggests, helping Neva get off the bus and on the ground.
Neva retracts her hand from his own. She peers around, contemplating his words.
The passengers were there waiting for a cab or their families to pick up on the side of the road. Neva replies, "Sure."
And they head along on their foot.
November was soon approaching. The mid october breeze, rather freezing. Neva rubs her arms cold. Her dress thin, the light cardigan didn't warm her any better.
"Have my Jacket." Rhett slides the jacket off and holds it towards her. "It's fine, I'm not that cold." She shakes her head.
"Stubborn!" Rhett drapes the jacket over her shoulders.
"But you just recovered from a fever, and you're injured!" Neva frowns and tries to take the jacket off. Rhett seizes her hands, smiling at her.
"It would kill me if the girl I like got sick, when I could've prevented it."
Amused, she gazes at him then surrenders, quite liking the warmth in her heart. "Thankyou." Murmers Neva, her heart beating cruelly rapid.
On the covering of the route, they kept strolling peacefully, eventually reaching their respective doors.
"Here," Neva hands him back the jacket. He grabs it from her, saying, "I had a really good time today Angel, being with you is the best." He beams.
"Me too. You really would be a good lover to have." She utters, smiling.
Rhett's appearance deems him baffled, the last he would expect would be Neva matching his energy.
Yep, finally his turn!
He blushes from her sweet words and tries to escape, "Goodnight Angel."
He hands Neva's shopping bags back, hurrying to leave.
"Wait!" Calls Neva.
He halts his steps, turning around to face her.
"It's time to dress your wounds." She remarks.
Before he realised, he was inside her apartment, seated on the couch. Neva checks his wounds and dresses it anew.
"Done! It's healing rather quickly." She smiles satisfied. Neva raises her head, her eyes connecting with the mesmerized of his. Rhett peering at her the whole time.
The whole time she did her own thing.
Her eyes, mesmerizing shimmering skies.
His stares, deepest abyss of the ocean. He feels his criminally madly heart throbbing inside the cage called ribs.
A fire burning his bones.
With a breathing of a breeze, his cold lips lands on Neva's warm ones. The sweet and sour of their saliva melting and mixing...
Numb!!
Neva feels her soul flying~
He kissed her;
Without permission,
Without thinking or deciding.
He kissed her;
Because he could not have done anything else.
He needed the breath she held,
Since a living body needs a little air.
He wished to have it back;
The reason to begin was his breath.
Either of them not moving;
He found himself alive.
Their souls tied from above;
Made for each other,
Made from each other.
The first time their eyes meet;
The heaven rejoiced.
The second their lips met;
The rather familiar feeling surged again.
