Chapter 13: My kind of love
Little no more than an eleven seconds.
Little to nothing motion of the lips.
Did bring Neva back to her senses. Did Rhett feel devastated when Neva applied force on his chest—pushing him away.
"You need to leave." Neva utters, daring not connect his eyes, afraid he would read her eyes, terrified he could see through her all.
He finds it hard to form out a word. "Neva I-""Go home Rhett." Neva doesn't let him finish, leaving his words hanging on the tip of the tongue.
Rhett's painful eyes looks at her—searching her distant gaze. Glancing nowhere close his form. Did she abhor him so terribly? He swallows his sorrow—his fist clenching tight. He needs some assurance; he wants her to say she didn't hate him.
Glancing at her once, he sighs, afraid he might've really reached the worse end with her. He should probably leave her alone, for now.
He arises to his feet, "Goodnight Neva." And he doesn't miss out the greetings. Neva gazes up at him—their eyes tangling.
And there; he has no hint of guilt in his orbs. Rather he's tranquiled. For he had to kiss her, or else, he might've just died. And her eyes, they tell: she doesn't despise him, as he had feared so.
Rhett walks out through the door, he leaves her, taking a part of her. He dissapears as Neva rushes towards the door—locking it secure. She leans her back on the door, breathing out, holding her chest; her heart could just burst out.
All night... the lovesick man and woman tosses and turns, incapable to swim in the pleasure of dreams. Thoughts troubled, heart in chaos.
The next dawn came later than usual. Neva walks out of her apartment in shambles.
Her mind tumultuous of the first kiss she had, yet she feels defeated, could there be a space where her first kiss would've been more special? She yelps, she had accidentally neglected a step in the stairs.
Before she could have a mishap, a pair of strong arms prevents her from splitting the bones.
She slowly opens her eyes, she thought: that's how she was finally gonna die. Her still, panicked eyes softens and calms—connecting gaze with her incredibly known knight.
The same man who had her in a severe mess. His arm safely round her waist, the other on her back; leaving her speechless yet.
Pulling away, she straightens her bend away posture. She clears her funny throat. "Thankyou." She murmers.
"On your way to University?" Asks Rhett, smiling.
"Yeah." Neva returns, avoiding his eyes.
"Let me drop you on my bike." He suggests.
"No, I'll walk." She retorts, stepping down the stairs, now with carefulness.
"Angel, your face's red, and you almost fell. Are you sick?" He inquires, a frown lining his forehead, genuinely worried.
"Whose fault was that?" Neva mumbles, to her misfortune, Rhett already saunters alongside her.
"My fault? How is that my fault?" Confused Rhett asks, feigning guilt.
She calmly glimpses at him.
'Is he pretending? Can he be anymore clueless?'
"Wait... how did you come save me so quick?" She wonders about his perfect speed and timing.
Rhett rubs the back of his neck, "Uhh... I was waiting for you on the bench, down the end of stairs."
"Oh. But why?" Neva squints her eyes at him.
"I needed to make sure, you weren't mad about the kiss yesterday." Rhett declares, a little nervous, yet nonchalant.
Neva looks at him, as they link the eyes. "And?" 'Isn't he ashamed! He's too casual about it.' Scolds Neva, in the close of her mind.
"I'm glad you aren't mad, and I could save you from falling on your ass." Rhett grins, he knows the eyes, reflecting the heart and soul. And he affirmed the moment their eyes met today; she wasn't angry at him.
"Who said I'm not mad?" Neva counters back, agitated. Starting to walk faster in anger. He quiets down for a second. "You're mad?" In a fragile voice he probes.
"Of course! Now leave me alone, don't you have a job or anything?" Neva seriously wants to punch him in the face. How could he be so untouched of her feelings? Who does he think he is?!
'He's just a playboy he's just a Stupid Playboy!! I don't dare let my guard down!' Oaths Neva in her heart, firm of never letting his way, no more.
"I do have a job, but I'm taking a break." He declares.
"Tsk! Aren't you too proud, owning just a car service store!'' Neva scoffs, her angered eyes glaring ahead.
"Damn! Respect my job, I save lives!" Rhett exclaims, feeling disfavoured.
He suddenly realises what he revealed. He had always been a smart guy, how did the words just slip out his mouth? He head over heels, fell in love with his Angel. It should be the one answer. Kind of expected, love makes one smart stupid.
Neva perceives his words, frowning a little.
"What did you say?" Asks the perturbed man, wanting to distract from what he just spoke. Realisation hits her, Neva's brain starts to short circuit.
She accidentally revealed her secret, and he said, he saves lives? Neva's fuzzy mind could only answer herself at this moment.
A proud man like him, his pride justifies the fact the car maintenance service workshop, could really save lives. For, car has come to be life for some.
You wouldn't know, the manner the world would go on without vehicles anymore. Or was there a secret he was burying?
'Well? Who cares.' Shrugs Neva, she doesn't wish to tangle her life with his anyway.
"Angel, how did you know I owned a car maintenance store?" Rhett inquires, he earns earns no reply.
"I thought I was the only one involved, you stalk me too? Don't you gorgeous?" He smirks, playing with his brows.
"Shut up, me stalking you? Hah! Keep dreaming Mr. Delusional..." Neva grumbles back. "Hmm, then how would you explain yourself?" He loves teasing her, missing her little burning red face in fury.
"It's just one time Emma saw you with me on my first day to University!!" Neva fires off, refusing to spare him a chance of getting ahead of himself.
"Really? Hold on, then you knew my name before I told you didn't you?" He really amuses himself.
"Wahh~"
"Stupid! Leave me alone!" Neva jogs away, sensing her face burning. Of course, the clingy guy have had to catch up with her.
Reluctant to leave the clumsy girl alone—and drop her at the University like a good lover he is.
It's only, the poor guy just dreads being apart the girl. And mayhap, tease her a little lot?
"Say Angel, what else did you ask about me? You are such a stalker," He giggles, elated, he loved today. "Shut up stupid! I'm not! And you're just a big big big playboy!!" Neva yells aloud at him, without care in the middle of the street.
"Damn my heart, I'm a one-man woman Angel. I've never been with anyone but you? How dare you accuse me this way?!" He exclaims, eyes widening, hand clutching the chest, feigning hurt.
"What? When have we ever been together?" She glares at him.
"You are so maddening Rhett!!" Neva screams, shutting her eyes tight, her being heating up. The passerbys drilling holes on their heads.
"Well that's my kind of love Angel!"
Rhett laughs out aloud, feeling electrified.
