I’m the Owner of the Pokémon Day Care In the World of Pokémon

Chapter 1291: Granbull The Traitor

Yuga followed the Patrat all the way to the depths of the alley and turned into an abandoned construction site.

In the open area of the abandoned site, there lay a thick concrete pipe, and standing on top of it was a Granbull.

All the gathered Pokémon approached the concrete pipe, trembling as they looked up at the Granbull. Under its fierce glare, they obediently placed the food they had scavenged underneath the pipe.

Some Pokémon showed a hint of reluctance, but the Granbull immediately roared angrily, its imposing aura changing in an instant. The reluctant Pokémon were so terrified they quickly submitted without further resistance.

Judging by the attitude of the other Pokémon, it was clear this wasn't the first time the Granbull had exploited them.

Seeing this, Yuga finally understood why these stray Pokémon had gathered here—they were essentially offering tribute to the Granbull.

Curious, Yuga activated the Insight Ability to examine the Granbull.

...

[ Granbull ]

Type: Fairy

Ability: Intimidate

Gender: Male

Potential: Blue

Level: 56

Moves: Fire Fang, Ice Fang, Thunder Fang, Tail Whip, Tackle, Bite, Crunch, Play Rough, Crunch, Dazzling Gleam, Taunt, Brick Break, Bulk Up, Earthquake.

...

The more Yuga looked, the more shocked he became. Judging by its filthy appearance, this Granbull seemed to be a stray Pokémon, but how could a stray have such excellent potential and such a high level?

"Could it be that my luck today is particularly good?" Yuga couldn't help but think.

This Granbull was quite the bully. When it noticed a Pidove bringing only a small amount of food, it raised its fist, ready to strike. The Pidove was so frightened that it froze in place, shutting its eyes tight, bracing for the blow of Granbull's iron fist.

Yuga wasn't unfamiliar with Pokémon like Granbull. In fact, the original owner of his body had once raised one (a former Mimikyu). However, the Granbull from his past was gentle and responsible—completely different from this brute.

To Pidove's surprise, the expected punch never landed. Instead, it heard an ear-piercing roar, even more terrifying than the Granbull's.

It turned out Yuga had intervened from the shadows.

Since fate had let him encounter such a high-potential Granbull , there was no reason for Yuga to let this opportunity slip by.

Seeing that the Granbull had a bad temper, Yuga decided to fight fire with fire. He sent out his Hydreigon, a Pokémon with an even worse temper.

Hydreigon wasn't easy to deal with, so Yuga had kept it by his side for "training" instead of sending it home. After these days of "friendly" interactions, Hydreigon had learned to obey Yuga without question.

With a single Scary Face, Hydreigon froze the once-arrogant Granbull in place, leaving it too scared to move a muscle.

At this moment, Yuga stepped forward and addressed the stray Pokémon that had been oppressed by the Granbull: "Alright, you can all leave now. This guy won't be bullying you anymore."

The stray Pokémon glanced at the Hydreigon hovering in the air, then bolted, scattering in all directions. Within moments, they were gone without a trace.

Originally, the Granbull was wary of the Hydreigon, but Yuga's words completely enraged it. Ignoring its fear, it bared its teeth and lunged at Yuga.

The Hydreigon hovering in the air would never allow the Granbull to harm Yuga. If Yuga were hurt right under its nose, wouldn't it have to face a punishment from its Dragonite back home?

In an instant, the Hydreigon pinned down the Granbull, and it crashed to the ground, landing in a most undignified way.

Its head was held down by Hydreigon's powerful grip while it desperately struggled with its limbs, but no matter how hard it tried, it couldn't move an inch.

At this point, it finally realized the vast difference between itself and the Hydreigon, and it gave up its struggle, sprawling out on the ground in surrender, seemingly resigned to whatever happened next.

Yuga, seeing how quickly the Granbull gave up resisting, thought to himself: This guy knows when to quit.

He then signaled for Hydreigon to release its hold on the Granbull's head.

Freed, the Granbull climbed back up and sat cross-legged in front of Yuga, panting heavily while eyeing him cautiously.

Seeing the Granbull's behavior, Yuga became even more curious—this did not look like a stray Pokémon at all!

Indeed, Yuga's guess was spot on. The Granbull was not originally a stray Pokémon; it had been raised by Team Plasma.

The Granbull's original trainer was the leader of the Team Plasma squad that had recently raided Cynthia's mansion.

When Team Rocket's leader, Giovanni, showed up, the squad leader, seeing how many of his companions had been lost, knew the situation was hopeless and quickly ordered a retreat.

However, his luck wasn't good. After fleeing from Undella Town, he was encountered the very next day by the League team sent to investigate the situation.

One by one, his subordinates were either injured or captured, and their condition quickly drew the attention of the League. They were all stopped before they could escape.

After a fierce battle, not only were his subordinates caught, but he himself was gravely wounded.

Because of his severe injuries, he could not escape far. So, the squad leader released the Granbull, hoping it could carry him away, as his main Pokémon had already been defeated by the League.

But, he never expected that the Granbull would abandon him and run off on its own.

The Granbull had been a reward from Team Plasma for the squad leader's past success, meaning there was little emotional attachment between them.

Because it was a relatively new Pokémon, the Granbull had not been sent into battle, explaining why it was still in pristine condition.

The Granbull not only lacked any emotional bond with its original trainer but was also quite independent. Having been stuck with such a hopeless trainer, it figured it would rather roam free on its own. So, after a short distance, it left the squad leader behind and wandered off alone.

The Granbull had grown up in Team Plasma's Pokémon breeding facility, under the care of a cruel handler who had a twisted mindset. The handler often secretly abused the Pokémon in their care, and the Granbull had suffered much at their hands.

For this reason, the Granbull despised Team Plasma and its people.

Unlike other Pokémon that were brought to the facility in egg form to be raised, the Granbull had been brought there at a young age and was already aware of the facility's dark nature. It knew the Team Plasma members weren't to be trusted.

However, it didn't openly oppose them but chose to remain obedient, recognizing the importance of understanding when to comply. This trait allowed it to know when to give up when faced with a stronger opponent like Hydreigon, which was why it immediately surrendered.

Although it acted harshly toward the stray Pokémon, its aggressiveness was simply a façade—an act of clever deception. When it saw Yuga, it quickly turned hostile, but deep down, it knew that aggression was just part of its disguise.

When it had abandoned its squad leader and fled, the Granbull had taken its Poké Ball from him, destroyed it, and then made its way to Lacunosa Town.

Having gained its freedom, the Granbull was eager to live a life of luxury and attention. To achieve this, it bullied the nearby stray Pokémon, demanding that they offer the majority of the food they gathered each day as tribute to it.

Its demands were excessive, and the stray Pokémon naturally refused, but since they were no match for the Granbull, they had no choice but to obediently comply.

Originally, Granbull thought that in a few more days, it would have completely subdued these stray Pokémon and turned them all into its little underlings. Who would have thought that today, it would be targeted by Yuga.

The world really is too treacherous!

Yuga, suspecting the origins of Granbull, said to it, "Introduce yourself to me. Tell me where you're from and any special experiences you've had."

Hearing this, Granbull wanted to roll its eyes: As if you'd understand me even if I told you.

It tried saying a few random things to fool Yuga, but to its surprise, Yuga could actually understand it. For every nonsense sentence it made up, Yuga had Hydreigon knock it on the head.

After confirming that Yuga really could understand its words, Granbull didn't dare to fabricate any more lies.

Yuga then called Gengar and Mismagius to his side and warned Granbull, "If you dare lie to me again, I'll have them use Hypnosis on you!"

Under Yuga's threat, Granbull had no choice but to tell Yuga the truth about its origins.

After listening to Granbull's story, Yuga's eyes lit up. A Pokémon from Team Plasma's breeding facility?

"Do you know where that breeding facility is?" Yuga asked eagerly.

If he could go and wipe out that breeding facility, wouldn't he be able to obtain many Pokémon?

(°°) So that's your focus? Granbull was speechless after hearing Yuga's words.

Unfortunately for Yuga, Granbull didn't know where the breeding facility it had come from was located. Unlike Yuga's YoYo Day Care, where Pokémon could freely enter and leave the Ecopark, Pokémon in Team Plasma's breeding facility were confined to fixed areas and weren't allowed to roam.

Granbull might have had a little understanding of the facility's immediate surroundings, but it had no idea which city in Unova the breeding facility was located in.

Hearing Granbull's answer, Yuga was disappointed. He then asked, "Where did you leave your previous trainer? Take me to him."

According to Granbull, when it abandoned its trainer, the Team Plasma squad leader was severely injured but not dead. After all, even though Granbull didn't save him, it couldn't bring itself to deliver a fatal blow to its own trainer.

Hearing Yuga's request, Granbull reluctantly agreed to take him to the squad leader.

Sorry about this, pal, Granbull silently apologized to the squad leader in its heart. But the guy in front of it was clearly not someone to be messed with.

The only uncertainty was whether that squad leader was still there.

Although it was already late, Yuga decided to set off immediately. According to Granbull, it had left the squad leader nearly three days ago, and whether he could still be found was hard to say.

Whether alive or dead, Yuga needed to find him.

The place where Granbull had abandoned its trainer wasn't far from Lacunosa Town. Riding on Dragonite, Yuga arrived there before dawn.

Upon arriving, Yuga found that the squad leader was indeed no longer there, and all that remained on the ground was a pool of dried blood.

The location was a dark, dense forest filled with active wild Pokémon. Because the squad leader hadn't dared head toward human towns, he had chosen to hide here.

Yuga couldn't tell whether the man had run away or been carried off by something. After thinking for a moment, he turned his gaze to a Pidove perched on a large tree nearby, preening its feathers.

Walking to the base of the tree, Yuga tried to appear as friendly as possible and said to the Pidove, "Can I ask you something?"

It was early morning, and Pidove had just woken up. Yuga's sudden voice startled it, but luckily, it was bold enough not to fly away immediately.

"Pidove~"

Pidove flapped its wings and pointed at itself, as if to say, Are you talking to me?

Because this forest is not far from human towns, the Pidove is not unfamiliar with humans and thus remains calm while conversing with Yuga.

"Yes," Yuga nodded after understanding Pidove's response.

Pidove looked at Yuga with a strange expression, thinking to itself: This person is really weird, talking to me like this. Can he even understand what I'm saying?

Of course, it quickly got its answer.

"I'd like to ask, three days ago, did you see an injured human here?" Yuga said while pulling out a Berry and handing it to Pidove as payment.

It's not that Yuga was unwilling to offer Pokéblocks; it's just that Pidove and its kind had never eaten Pokéblocks before and didn't recognize their value. They might even think Pokéblocks were inferior to regular Berries.

To avoid trouble, Yuga felt it was more convenient to offer a Berry directly rather than explaining the benefits of Pokéblocks.

Pidove had just woken up and was quite hungry, so it quickly scarfed down the Berry in just a few bites.

"Pidove~"

After finishing, Pidove smacked its beak and pointed at Yuga, meaning: That's not enough, give me another one.

Helpless, Yuga pulled out another Berry and handed it over. Pidove happily finished it and finally answered Yuga.

"Pidove~"

I didn't see anything, but I have a lot of friends here. I'll help you ask around.

With that, it flew up into the air and gestured for Yuga to follow.

Having accepted the payment, Pidove was indeed quite responsible and managed to find a lead for Yuga.

One of Pidove's companions told Yuga that three days ago, it had indeed seen an injured human lying under a tree not far away. However, that human was later taken away by a Leavanny that lives in the eastern part of the forest.

Leavanny is well-known in this forest. It has a kind heart and often rescues injured Pokémon in the forest, so it is highly respected by everyone.

"Can you take us to find Leavanny?" Yuga asked Pidove's companion.

Hearing Yuga's request, the two Pidove both looked at Yuga warily. If Yuga had any ill intentions toward Leavanny, they would immediately peck his eyes out.

It seemed that Leavanny was truly respected in this forest.

Yuga hurriedly explained, "I just want to find the human that Leavanny saved. I have no intention of hurting Leavanny."

The Pidove were quite innocent and immediately believed Yuga's words. Thanks to Yuga's offerings of food, they agreed to take him to find Leavanny.

In fact, the other Pokémon in the forest who knew that Leavanny had rescued a human had advised it to send the human away quickly. To them, humans were not safe.

However, the human was so gravely injured that kind-hearted Leavanny couldn't bear to abandon him. The other Pokémon could do nothing about it.

Under the guidance of the two Pidove, Yuga headed toward the eastern part of the forest.

"Pidove~"

We're almost there.

The Pidove stopped on a tree and pointed toward the distance to show Yuga the way.

However, at that moment, they suddenly heard a loud explosion.

Leavanny lived in a large tree within the forest. By the time Yuga and his group arrived, Leavanny was already gone, and only a severely injured Escavalier was left at home.

Escavalier was Leavanny's partner and protector. If Escavalier had been gravely injured here, then something must have happened to Leavanny.
