Chapter 20: Dragons
Strength in Numbers as his father used to say.
As dawn broke, Alex stood in the courtyard of the former prince's castle. His system interface glowed faintly before him as he allocated 2000 credits to recruit 200 Unsullied. These legendary warriors appeared in neat rows, their faces stoic and expressions devoid of fear.
Alex turned to his four key subordinates Victor, Mark, Leon, and Raven. "Each of you will take command of fifty Unsullied. Train them, organize them, and prepare them for the days ahead. This is the beginning of our military foundation."
The four nodded, saluting in their respective styles.
Leon, ever the pragmatic, smirked. "With these soldiers and what Victor and Mark bring from their world, we're untouchable."
"Not yet," Alex corrected. "But soon, once they are trained properly about the firearms and how to handle them. I'll give you guys enough to just for training. Until than talk with law management team, and make a schedule to do patrol in pentos. And make it so at least one team is in castle. Got it".
The following day, the people of Pentos buzzed with the news of their new rulers.
"The prince is dead? And all the magistrates?" a baker whispered to his customer.
"Yes," the customer replied, glancing around nervously. "But I've heard the new king and queen aren't ordinary. They have… dragons."
Others were more skeptical.
"Dragons? Nonsense," scoffed a fisherman. "It's a ploy to scare us into submission."
"Dragons are long gone. There are no magician, dragons needs magic to survive. At least that's what I heard".
But as the hours passed, the rumors spread like wildfire, fueled by both awe and fear.
In the castle, Alex paced in his chambers, deep in thought. He called upon the system to inquire about hatching the dragon eggs.
Alex didn't want Daenerys to burn in fire. Even though it won't effect her much but still, he didn't want to put her through that. There are different ways to become a queen. She learned that through the hard way in Show, but it doesn't have to be that way if he can use the system to help dragon eggs hatch".
System Notification:
Hatching Dragon Eggs
Cost: 1000 Credits per egg.
Process: Immediate. Hatchlings will imprint on their parents due to magical influence.
Alex exhaled sharply. "3000 credits for all three... That's almost half of what I've earned so far is gone."
Daenerys, sitting nearby with the eggs cradled in her lap, looked up at him. "What are you thinking about?"
Alex turned to her. "It's time we introduce ourselves properly. Not just as rulers but as the legacy of dragons."
Daenerys's eyes widened. "You mean… you can hatch them?"
He nodded, a smirk playing on his lips. "Watch and learn."
Alex took the eggs from Daenerys and placed them in the courtyard, their iridescent shells gleaming under the sunlight.
He raised his hand, and with a dramatic flourish, summoned the system interface. To Daenerys, it appeared as though magic pulsed from his very being.
The courtyard filled with a warm, golden light as Alex activated the system to hatch the eggs. Flames erupted around the eggs, swirling like a protective cocoon.
Daenerys gasped as the first crack appeared on the black-and-red egg. Moments later, a small dragon with smoky scales and piercing red eyes emerged, letting out a high-pitched screech.
The other two eggs followed suit the green-and-bronze dragon and the cream-and-gold one breaking free, their cries joining the first.
"They're beautiful," Daenerys whispered, tears streaming down her face.
The dragons instinctively crawled toward Alex and Daenerys. Drogon, the black-and-red dragon, perched on Alex's shoulder, nuzzling his cheek. The other two nestled close to Daenerys.
"They recognize us," Alex said with satisfaction.
Daenerys knelt, stroking the dragons with reverence. "Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion," she whispered, naming them as her ancestors would have.
After they fed them, they took them to show their power as the new rulers of pentos.
With Drogon resting on Alex's shoulder and the other two dragons flanking Daenerys, they emerged onto the castle's balcony.
Below, the people of Pentos gathered, their murmurs silenced as they beheld their new rulers.
Alex stepped forward, his voice carrying over the crowd.
"Citizens of Pentos! I am Alexander your king, and this is Daenerys Targaryen, your queen. Together, we will lead this city to a future of prosperity and strength. No longer will you live under the corruption of magistrates or fear the wrath of foreign invaders."
Daenerys held up her hands, revealing the two dragons perched on her arms. "The dragons have returned! We bring with us the power of fire and blood. Stand with us, and together, we will make Pentos the envy of all Essos."
The crowd erupted in a mixture of cheers and awed gasps. Some knelt, while others simply stared, their disbelief shattered by the sight of living, breathing dragons.
As the sun set, the streets of Pentos were alive with both celebration and apprehension. The city was no longer under the shadow of magistrates or the puppet prince it now belonged to the Dragon Queen and her enigmatic king.
Alex returned to his chambers, feeling the weight of his new responsibilities. The system's voice echoed in his mind.
System Notification:
Achievement Unlocked: The Dragon Rises
Bonus Reward: 2000 Credits.
He smirked. "This is just the beginning."
Daenerys entered, the dragons following close behind. "What now?" she asked.
Alex looked out over the city. "Now, we build. An army, a kingdom, and a legacy."
"CREDITS LEFT = 10000"
