Chapter 68: The Tyrant God (A-)
*Ding!*
[You slew another one!]
[And another one!]
[Wow!]
[Now that one was… Brutal…]
[What!? Did you just… Oh…]
SPURT!
[From the inside out…!? Can being a menace be considered as good Character Development?]
Even the Idle Evolution System, with all its snarky sentience, was unable to properly quantify whether its Host had taken an appropriate path.
But then again…
[Gaining strength means fighting stronger enemies to gain even more strength! Being rather ruthless is only part of due effect! Mhmm, now this is good Character Development!]
[^×^ Keep it up! Murder more monsters, you insane psychotic bastard!]
[Wait…]
The Idle Evolution System suddenly realized that things seemed far too easy for its beloved Host. Knowing that good Character Development came from good suffering, this was simply unacceptable! It was truly, unacceptable unacceptable!
[A little omnipotent interference never harmed anyone…]
[^_^]
With that, the Idle Evolution System mischievously pulled upon some strings that defied certain ethereal laws of existence. It received a substantial amount of backlash for this unwarranted interference. However, as the guider of good Character Development, how could it not withstand what it dished out??
It was the original Masochist! Behold as it takes on the full brunt of heaven's fury!!
It will take it all on and then shout for more!! Nothing will be enough!!!
[Psshh, what is Heaven in front of good Character Development!? ^•^]
Heaven: "...."
Even the Almighty governors of the universe felt exasperation in the face of such an existence. Nonetheless, the so-called 'punishment' passed as a fleeting moment, with the Idle Evolution System's tampering going off without a hitch.
RUMBLE!
From off in the distance, thousands of wide-ranged tremors parted the vast seas of sand, making it feel like the entire world was about to fall apart. Yet, as if to add to the chaos, roughly two hundred ridiculously large tremors spread out from dozens of miles away, with each one at least a dozen times stronger than that of a regular Sand Devourer.
But as if all of that were just an appetizer for the true terrors of the dunes, twenty-five tremors capable of sinking multiple city blocks sprouted up. And then, to explosively spiral things out of control, five tremors with individual power five times that of the previous tremors blew through the boundless deserts!
However, as if that weren't enough, one final tremor took the concept of "blown out of proportion" to an entirely new level!
This final and most powerful tremor, if unleashed in the outside world, would surely be able to threaten the structural integrity of an entire city! It was a level of power that far exceeded what even a B+ Boss Monster should possess!
"Uhmm…"
Cassius, although not very knowledgeable about higher-rank Gates, at least knew when something was not right.
Looking through their system tags, he was left flabbergasted.
[Elite Sand Devourer (C+)]
There were 250 of them.
[Sand Devourer Lord (B-)]
There were 25 of them…
[Tyrant King (Monarch of Obsession) (B+)] - [Boss Monster!]
There were 5…!?
At this point, Cassius was beginning to doubt his own eyes. How could there possibly be five Boss Monsters in a single Gate!? There was most definitely something cracked up to all high hell here!
But as if to add to his disbelief, there was one final monster to emerge from the desert. Just behind the five crowned worm-dragon-like behemoths, there popped out something that, rather than abnormally large like the others, was instead the size of a human child. It took the form of a comparatively tiny shiny larva and didn't even have its eyes open.
Not even an instant later, the larva shot its eyelids open, unleashing an unquestionably dazzling burst of golden-bloody light that instinctively honed in on the tiny human in the distance. Then, with multiple rolling waves of incredibly domineering energy, it rapidly increased in size, growing one hundred times larger in a single second!
Massive shimmering wings grew from its scaled back, increasing from one pair to two, and then finally to six. Its lower body followed suit, as its originally minuscule, stubby legs expanded and transformed into daunting hill-sized limbs befitting a genuine dragon. Similarly, its once squishy and bland head morphed into a sinuous imitation of a snowy dragon. Goldish-white scales covered its face and traced along the rest of its insurmountably massive body.
To the tiny Cassius, even from so far away, the mysterious monster looked like a small-mountain-sized God of the Sky. He knew right then that something had definitely gone off-script!
"Yeah, well, shit…"
He truly couldn't comprehend what the hell was going on. Why everything seemed to want to slaughter all ten generations of his bloodline was also a complete mystery. And when he read the system tag of the flying monster that far outshone even the cloned Boss Monsters, his shock was only further amplified.
{[Tyrant God (Ancestor of Tyrant's Obsession/Overseer of the Deserted World of Obsession) (A-)] - [Anomaly! Anomaly!! Should not exist—!]}
"???"
Before Cassius could question the forlorn message hidden in the system tag, he blinked and saw it vanish as if it had never been there to begin with.
{[Tyrant God (Ancestor of Tyrant's Obsession/Overseer of the Deserted World of Obsession) (A-)] - [Should definitely exist, uwu! Go and try fighting it! Good booty awaits you if you succeed in vanquishing this foe!]}
Silence.
It was right then that Cassius realized this was all likely a result of the system's raging sadism boner. And although he was a bit annoyed that it always tried doing things like this just when he assumed he was becoming overpowered, his curiosity about the system's origins far outweighed his grievances.
However, with the certain threat of absolute death looming over him, Cassius had no choice but to set aside all the nonsense and clutch both Newbie Sword 2 and Lilith.
Then, with no other viable options, he… fled in the opposite fucking direction!
'Do I look like I have a damn death wish!?' he exclaimed inside his mind while running at top speed, his figure but a blur atop the desert dunes.
...…..
