Cassius had originally planned to slowly increase his strength in this High Yellow Gate, then eventually challenge the B+ Boss Monster. But fighting them all at once and in far greater quantity?? Straight to the fuck no! He was out of there faster than a deadbeat dad aiming to acquire a carton of milk from the lands beyond!

The gathered behemoth monsters exchanged unusual looks between each other, not expecting something like this to happen. They just wanted to eat the lone human, so why did he run away?? Did he not receive his part of the script play?

[Initiating 2nd Attempt at Good Character Development!]

The Tyrant God suddenly twisted its terrifying scaly head and signaled for one of the Sand Devourer Lords to gather a substantial part of the weaker forces, which consisted of Sand Devourers of the normal and Elite variety. They were then instructed to chase down the fleeing human.

It, on the other hand, would sit back and silently consider its next actions with the other Sand Devourer variants. When they eventually escaped the Gate that contained their entire world, they had plenty they wished to… devour. Thus, they needed to meander.

Meanwhile, hundreds of miles out.

Cassius raced through the sandy dunes of the endless desert, his feet skimming over the sand like an elusive wraith. Yet, from a few thousand meters out, he sensed numerous horrifying yawning voids of teeth charging at him with relentless movements. The one at the forefront, a Sand Devourer Lord, was two and a half times larger than the Sand Devourer Elites and three times larger than the regular Sand Devourers.

Under normal circumstances, it could be considered a Mini Boss of a High Yellow Gate, yet it was actually relegated to no more than a slightly stronger mob…

Cassius felt that he could take on this monster, even with its stats boosted due to its unique status as a Mini Boss. But to be careful and not lose his life due to carelessness, he lured the Sand Devourer Lord and the hundred-odd Sand Devourers toward a crusted chasm in the ground. Its ends stretched out for tens of thousands of meters, with its edges having dried up and solidified because of unique environmental circumstances.

To Cassius, it almost looked like the chasm had formed due to a ridiculously powerful and hot beam of sorts.

However, regardless of the truth of the matter, he bolted into the chasm's beginnings before coming to a standstill at a narrower part of the chasm a few hundred meters down. He turned around and calmly waited for his pursuers to catch up.

Sure enough, after five seconds of waiting, a disturbingly large circular mouth of teeth clasped onto the entrance to his narrow part of the chasm. It repeatedly rammed its mouth into the walls, causing the chasm to slightly shake. Yet it was far from enough to destroy the place or barge into where Cassius was nonchalantly posed.

At most, the massive Sand Devourer Lord's ceaseless head smashes gave it minor brain damage and caused a few loose molten sandy rocks to tumble down the sides of the chasm.

Cassius, amused by this stupid monster, brandished his enchanting Lilith and casually thrust forward with only his right hand. Lilith's separable pieces shot forward one at a time, extending further and further from one another.

Without the Sand Devourer even aware of what was happening, Cassius quite literally cast Lilith into the belly of the beast, all while keeping each individual piece of her from touching the monster's inner throat. Then, when he felt the lure had sunk in deep enough, he lightly twisted his right hand, before twisting in the opposite direction. His hand blurred while doing this, which he repeated countless times in an instant.

Cassius's cooled expression blossomed into a wide smirk as he snapped his fingers and spoke in a glitchy tone. "C-Rank 'Bloodfire.'"

Whoosh!!

As one of the few C-Rank Skills that he received from Silver-rank Skill Boxes, Bloodfire took from Lilith's and his killing intent and specialized in really only one thing.

To burn.

WHOOOOSH!!

Starting from a small red fire, Lilith's edges erupted in scarlet flames which, when added to the innumerable cuts that Cassius left inside the behemoth's stomach, led to a truly gory display. The Sand Devourer Lord was just a little too robust to explode in the same fashion as a normal Sand Devourer, but its insides slowly became outsides, with its final agonizing screeches marking the end of its life.

THUD!

The Sand Devourer Lord's carcass collapsed to the slanted chasm slope with a resounding thud. Yet, rather than retreat at the death of their strongest available ally, the Sand Devourers that were previously unable to get in because of the Lord were now slipping in through the cracks and lunging at the lone human.

"You bunch just don't know when to relent," said Cassius as he speedily slung Lilith out of the Sand Devourer Lord's roasting stomach and slashed through a dozen attacking Sand Devourers.

While fending both them and a couple of Sand Devourer Elites off with his precision lashes, various system notifications rang off inside his head.

"Ahh, finally another increase in the amount I get per level up," Cassius mused while also glancing at the Skill Box rewards that weren't normally shown after each level up. "Peak-Silver Skill Boxes, which means I'm rapidly approaching the Gold Rank, also known as the B-Rank."

He was satisfied with his progress and, looking at the total amount of AP he had, his grin widened.
