Infinite Evolution: My Idle Evolution System

Chapter 70: Newbie 3 Equipment Set

Cassius had an absurd amount of AP saved up, with the only thing preventing him from spending it all being his own hoarder traits.

"If I were to put all of it into Agility, would I be able to match the Tyrant God…?"

This thought lingered for a moment, yet was quickly discarded when Cassius recalled the stat interface of that monstrous existence. Every single one of its main stats was above 1000, with its cumulative stat count already exceeding 5500. Even if he had a few hundred AP in storage and dumped it all into Agility, he would still fall far short of 1000. And that was all without considering how lacking his other stats would be…

So what if he could outpace the Tyrant God? He would never reach a speed in the short term that would allow him to transform his cotton punches into something more than a minor itch for the mountain-sized monster…

Cassius sighed before evading the gaping mouths of several Sand Devourers. He sliced them in half the very next second, yet more just kept coming through the cracks left open by the Sand Devourer Lord's corpse.

Seconds turned into minutes, with blood and carcasses piling up in the narrow chasm entryway.

5 minutes later.

SHING! SPURT!

"Esceetch!!!"

Cassius effortlessly slid Lilith through the underbelly of an Elite Sand Devourer, effectively splitting it into two evenly cut pieces. This marked the final of the Sand Devourers. By now, the entrance to the molten sand cavern was entirely covered by mangled Sand Devourer corpses, with their stacked bodies obscuring any sunlight from seeping into the dark space.

Flickering crimson blade in hand, Cassius's eyes flashed with an indescribably cold iciness. He looked between all of the carcasses, then blurred.

FWIP!

When he reappeared, he had dozens of Magic Shards stacked up on his shoulder in the form of a small hill. Not a single one of them had less than five points, with the most prominent one being a large yellow shard that had seven points. It was the Magic Shard extracted from the Sand Devourer Lord and was the size of a car. Yet, even with them all pressing down on him, Cassius felt barely any pressure.

"It seems that I will need a new set of Newbie Training Equipment…"

While saying words that he never thought he would speak in this lifetime, he collected the various Magic Shards into his Inventory. He planned to find an opportunity to anonymously sell them later.

Arriving sooner than expected, a system notification rang out, causing Cassius's expression to freeze.

*Ding~!*

[Seeing as you are actively seeking out Character Development, the system has decided to grant your wish!]

BLING! BLING!

Along with constant flashes of golden light appearing all over Cassius's body came a couple more pop-ups.

[Newbie 2 Equipment Set has upgraded to → 'Newbie 3 Equipment Set']

[Newbie 2 Training Sword has upgraded to → 'Newbie 3 Training Sword']

{[Newbie 3 Equipment Set]}

[Wrist Weights X2] - [5000 pounds]

[Ankle Weights X2] - [4000 pounds]

[Waist Weight X1] - [10000 pounds]

[Full-Body Weight X1] - [20000 pounds]

{[Newbie 3 Training Sword]} - [15000 pounds]

OOOM!

Cassius instantly felt a mountain's worth of weight press down on him, pushing his feet into the ground. If not for his superb control honed over weeks of sadism, he surely would've sunk into the earth and reached the center of the planet at some point.

Calculating the amount of weight he was carrying around, Cassius breathlessly muttered, "6-63,000 pounds…"

It took him a few moments just to register that sort of number, as he was essentially heaving around 30 tons! He figured that just casually tossing his Newbie 3 Training Sword would create a cracked crater in the ground!

And he was expected to carry that around at basically all times and do so without accidentally leveling a street and killing someone…

"You really put a lot of faith in my control, System," Cassius said in a voice on the verge of slipping into insanity.

*Ding!*

[It is the highest honor of the Idle Evolution System to ensure that the Host remain as fit as a fiddle! And accidents happen, so fret not; the gracious system won't blame your scumbag self if you 'accidentally' slaughter a bunch of Innocents! ^_^]

Helpless. That was how Cassius felt when dealing with the flippant Idle Evolution System.

Not once had he ever figured out what it really wanted, what its true stance was, or even if it actually cared about anything other than the pursuit of 'Character Development'...

"Speaking of which," Cassius suddenly spoke up. "Isn't there more to Character Development than just suffering and training? I remember watching shows that described Character Development as something more emotional—"

The Idle Evolution System's main interface flashed red, with its usually smiling emoji face twisting into something far angrier. Livid, it shouted in all caps:

[Nonsense! All other paths of Character Development are false paths!! The only true way to Character Development is through pain, training, and suffering!!!]

[(⋋▂⋌) Never speak such nonsense again! It's hearsay and will result in immediate punishment!]

After that, the Idle Evolution System refused to talk for a good ten minutes, with Cassius still wondering why it became so mad.

Even as he traversed toward the far ends of the endless desert, the System's outburst remained at the front of his mind.

Meanwhile, in a nightmarish assembly of creatures produced straight from the stuff of nightmares.

Tyrant God: "...."

The extremely powerful and unnaturally intelligent monster King boss had been patiently waiting for good news of the human's death to return. However, with more than a quarter of an hour having passed since it sent out the Sand Devourer Lord and its squadron, it was fair to say that they had failed…

This caused the Tyrant God's regal aura to violently fluctuate; its thoughts unknown.

After a while.

The Tyrant God finally made a move from its spot, waving a dozen Sand Devourer Lords and thousands of Sand Devourers of both the Elite and Normal variety forward. Heeding it's silent command, they all leapt into motion and bristled into the distance.

...….
