Chapter 94: Victor Radio, the Fastest Man Alive
Despite Yimin's weird logic, Cassius promptly clasped her mouth shut with a single hand. Redirecting his attention back to the receptionist, he asked, "Well, can this be done? Is a manager here right now?"
"Y-Yes, of course!" Although a bit flustered over the ludicrous stuff she had just heard him say, the receptionist was still a seasoned professional. "I will call for him right away!" she said while already dialing a number on a stationary telephone right beside her.
A few seconds later.
A mildly corpulent man dressed in a classy suit and tie hurried ahead of the receptionist. He reached the other side of the desk and bowed his head slightly. "It is a great honor to get acquainted with you, good sir! I hear that you are looking to sell Magic Shards of the B-Rank??"
"Yes, that is correct," answered Cassius. He briefly appraised the man, observing several beads of sweat trickling down his forehead and cheeks. "My Master is a very secretive man and doesn't like to put himself out in the open. So, if you're aiming to inquire about his name, location, or rank, then I cannot help you. I just wanted to get that out there before we discuss business."
"O-Of course," the manager replied in a dejected tone.
He was indeed interested in this powerful master, but if it wasn't meant to be, then it wasn't meant to be.
Changing the topic, he asked, "Can we bring the Magic Shards to the back and look over them there right now?"
"Yes, that is fine," Cassius responded without much thought. "Do lead the way."
Suddenly regaining a lot of his bearings, the manager switched into serious business mode. "Right this way," he motioned ahead with his hands.
Cassius briskly passed the silent receptionist. Yimin glared at her as they passed, but he quickly diverted her focus with a head pat. They walked through a pair of swinging doors, then waited for the manager to catch up.
The manager was curious about why the customer and companion were hooded, but more than that, he could approximately gauge the level their items were at. And although his guess was still quite a bit off, he just knew that he was about to make a big profit today. His heavy footsteps flickered across the marble floors as he, too, passed the receptionist.
"Good work today," he whispered to her before making it back to the hooded man's side.
The receptionist warmly smiled before enthusiastically returning to her desk work. Finally, she got some recognition! Life was surely going to become better from here on out!
She couldn't help but quietly thank the esoteric man inside her heart.
—Meanwhile, in the spacious back area of the Hunter Association's Hoshito Branch Building—
Oddly enough, although there were two people walking and one hitchhiking, only a single pair of footsteps echoed in the relatively silent corridors. This was solely because Cassius had reached a level in his training where he could make it seem like he was weightless, even though he was lugging around hundreds of thousands of tons.
If it weren't for expert control and various auxiliary skills that helped in this aspect, then just a single step of his would destroy the Hunter's Association. That single step would collapse the Branch Building and leave the surrounding blocks in ruin.
And the worst part was that this wasn't even an exaggeration…
Cassius quite literally had several Empire State Buildings attached to his body. If he ever lost control over his muscular functionality, then it would be as if multiple Empire State Buildings suddenly spawned out of nowhere!
However, even knowing that, there was something crazier about this whole ordeal. That crazy thing being that his Strength Stat was not even at the A-Rank yet… He pushed his body to its absolute limits at all times, causing veins to constantly bulge and intimidate people, but even that only just barely put him near the peak of the B-Rank.
In terms of pure strength and without including the 'Dragonic Strength' effect from his Dragonfire Advent Title, even the B-Rank Hunter Party Leader Dominic was stronger. In other words, Dominic could have also carried around what Cassius was now carrying, and he could do so with much more ease. Now, this begged the question:
If the peak B-Rank was already so stupidly overpowered, then just how freakish were those mighty existences in the S-Rank…?
—------------
As Cassius and his grumbling Yimin sold all of his Magic Shards to the Hunter's Association Branch Manager, a lean blonde-haired man leisurely strolled through a highly populated area of Shibuya, Japan. He wore a pair of expensive gold-edged sunglasses and could overall be termed stylish.
His name—Victor Rapido—the alleged Fastest Man Alive!
One second, Victor was seen meandering through large crowds of people, and the next second, he was gone. He left no afterimages, no instantaneous stops, leaving nothing to indicate that he had done anything other than vanish from this dimension.
Even the instant teleportation spells and skills of Mage Awakeners could not compare to the speed demon that was Victor Rapido.
He was just that damn… fast.
FWIP!
Victor Rapido silently reappeared beside a fiery-haired man on a wide podium, appearing there without leaving any indication that he had been anywhere but there. Not even his feet or clothes rippled when he appeared on that stadium; it really was like he spawned in.
Noticing a familiar presence, the fiery red-haired man looked away from a massive sea of Hunters, all of whom ranged from the F-Rank to the A-Rank. He saw a smugly relaxed expression sitting nearly a foot below his head.
It wasn't that Victor Rapido was short, it was just that this bulky, viking-like man was extremely large.
Upon confirming the blonde-haired man's identity, the fiery red-haired man's face twisted in anger. "For the fastest man alive, you sure do know how to run late to every single important meeting," he quietly criticized, not holding anything back.
"Hah…" Victor Rapido glanced up at the livid hulking man, that smug smirk never leaving his expression.
