Chapter 8: -A letter-
A few months had passed since the beginning of our magical training, and Harry was coming along nicely as a growing boy. He had a healthier look and his once scrawny form was now more 'full' of condensed muscle after he decided training from the dragons faithful was a good idea (He survived, but he did end up regretting it).
I on the other hand, grew in power and strength. My cultivation of the spirit scriptures made my body as tough as diamond, my spiritual sight extended physically and metaphysically, and my magic training now allowed me to wield more advance spells like spatial warp and dress change, which Harry himself was eager to learn, and he mastered it faster than I did. (Can you be jealous of your kids?).
I decided to take a look outside as the English weather was beginning to grow on me, even if it was still dreary. When I stepped outside, I noticed a letter at my feet. It was parchment based and was written with emerald green ink. On the other side was a familiar coat of arms that I knew who it was. 'Oh yeah, Harry's birthday was yesterday' I remembered, especially because all my customers showed up with birthday gifts. Kofuku in particular provided a blessing, warding away bad omens.
"Hello" I heard someone say and it was only then that I noticed two people standing before my humble shop. One was an old man dressed in a cloak of grey complete with a circular cap I didn't know the name of. The other was a women of mature age who wore emerald green robes and a pointed hat. The names of these two came instantly.
"Hello" I returned the greeting as I invited them inside. I quickly got four cups of tea and they sat down and accepted them graciously. "May I ask what your here for?" I asked them, already having an idea on why they are here.
"We are here because the recipient of a letter we sent was not where he should be, so we were trying to figure that out" said Mccgonnagal. "Would you happen to know where Harry Potter is?" asked Dumbledore. "I'll get him, just wait tight" I said to them as I went to get Harry.
-Albus-
"This is where he is?" asked Minni as she looked at me, sipping tea which was hot and fresh. I sipped mine and delightened to find a lemmony taste to it. It was quite refreshing, almost outpacing the tea I have at my office.
"That it is, the book and quill never lie" I told her, atleast, not that I can recall it every having lied about something. Quite a clever thing that was, an ingenious invention to find students of magical potential for enrollment. It was quite novel, despite being very old.
"But he should be with the Dursleys right? I'm happy for him to be away from them, but we could have lost him Albus" said Minerva with a tone of concern. She always acted like a stern witch, but she did have a softer side she has shown very little. It was quite endearing about her, and I wish she would show it more.
I could hear a door open as two figures emerged. One was the man from before, and the other was Harry.....I think? "Where is his scar?" said Minerve as she looked for the telltale sign of confirmation. "It was removed after the spirit inside was quelled" said the man as he and Harry sat down.
'Removed? Most curious' I thought as I wondered how one could remove a curse afflicted scar. "Spirit, what spirit!?" screamed Minnie in concern as he dashed over and began looking at him all over to confirm he was okay. 'Such a mother hen' I thought looking at the situation, and I realized we never got the mans name.
"What's your name young lady?" I asked him as if he realized he never gave his name out. "My name is John Mycroft" he said and I could detect influences of Sherlock Holmes. "Quite a name. Mine is Albus wulfric Percival Brian Dumbledore, you can call me Albus" I said in all my names long glory. "That name is too long" said John and I couldn't help but laugh.
"Anyhow, how did Harry come into your care? Last I knew he was being taken care of by his family" I asked him. John looked confused until something dawned on him. "Oh, they abandoned him in London, so I took him in" he said dismissively as my eyebrows seemed to have shot through the roof.
"WHAT!" shouted Minnie as she looked ready to dash through the front door, though it apparently wouldn't budge after John waved his hand. 'A wizard?' I thought as I took notice of his wandless magic. Not everyone could use it that way. "I told you they were terrible people!" she shouted and I couldn't refute this one. I should have been ready for something like this, so in essence, this was my fault.
"We will deal with it later. On the main topic, Harry, you're a wizard" I told him, expecting a look of surprise, which did not arrive as I thought. "I know" he said as he then conjured a ball of fire in his hand. Another display of wandless magic, this goes beyond talent. "Is John also a wizard?" I asked him, even if I knew the answer. "Yes I am" said John and he demonstrated the same spell.
"Anyhow, you have been put down to attend the Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry, term begins December first" I told him as he looked somewhat disinterested. "Come on Harry, you need to meet friends your own age" said John giving him a little nudge. "But what about my family? What about aunt Kofuku or Uncle Ainz?" said Harry as my curiosity rose in many stages.
"Don't worry, you will always be able to see them" said John and that seemed to soldify the choice for Harry as he nodded yes. "Great, can't wait to see you on the first. Also, if you need information, you can send me a letter Mr.Mycroft" I said as me and Minnie exited the joint. "I am still furious Albus" said Minni and I nodded.
"I know, that's why we are going to have a little chat with them" I said as we apparated away.
A/N: I kinda like this portrayal of Dumbledore, an actual good grandpa. I hope you guys do as well. Any how, when Harry goes to school, I am gonna have him actually adventure in other worlds so that part of the fic can finally pan out. Have a great day!
