Volume 1 Chapter 5
05. Precious
The sword of the Human Sword Saint?
Xia Yi immediately recalled the story Xia Lulu told her yesterday.
A tale of a self-proclaimed dragon slayer Sword Saint challenging the strongest dragon.
However, Xia Yi was so sleepy afterwards that she kept yawning while listening in a daze, so she didn’t pay much attention to what ultimately happened to the Sword Saint.
But now that Xia Lulu brought this up, it meant—
“Mother, could it be that the story you told actually happened?” Xia Yi suddenly realized.
“Of course, this story is adapted from real events,” Xia Lulu explained unhurriedly, “Once upon a time, there really was a Human Sword Saint who challenged me, calling himself a fearless dragon slayer who would slay me, the evil dragon.”
“Can humans really challenge dragons?”
Xia Yi was very puzzled.
Because the gap in strength between humans and dragons was incomparable.
Dragons were the favorites of the gods. As long as one was a dragon, even if they were the ultimate slackers who ate well and lazed around, they would still be many times stronger than humans who trained diligently their entire lives.
This was the absolute advantage of a Superior Race.
It could be said that apart from their problematic reproductive ability which led to their numbers being far fewer than humans, dragons were overwhelmingly superior in every aspect.
“That human was different from ordinary humans. His attainments in swordsmanship were very outstanding, reaching an extraordinary level.” Xia Lulu seemed to see through her daughter’s thoughts.
This made Xia Yi even more curious. “Mother, how strong was that human?”
“At that time, he defeated our guards, but he also paid an extremely heavy price himself. It was a one-for-one at his limit.”
Huh?
That’s it??
“Mother, were they elite guards?”
“No.”
“Then… ordinary guards?”
“Not that either. They were reserve guards.”
“Pfft!”
Xia Yi couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
She really couldn’t hold it in anymore.
Xia Yi could easily beat up the reserve guards, yet this Human Sword Saint had to give his all for a one-for-one exchange.
So weak.
“Mother, what eventually happened to that Sword Saint?”
“Now,” Xia Lulu gazed at her daughter and smiled, “he’s gone.”
“As expected, he died. That’s not surprising.”
“Xia Yi, the Holy Sword you summoned in the Royal Trial today is called Gram, the very sword of the Sword Saint, which I secretly gave to you when you were little, hence you knew nothing about it.”
Hearing this, Xia Yi truly felt pity for the Sword Saint from the bottom of her heart.
Not only did he die, but his Holy Sword was also taken away. Originally meant for slaying dragons, it now protected Xia Yi, a dragon herself.
How ironic!
That Sword Saint would probably be so furious that he’d rise from his grave if he knew his Holy Sword met this fate.
“That Holy Sword seems quite powerful. I’ve never learned swordsmanship before, but I defeated the golem with a single slash.”
“Although the physical qualities of humans are far inferior to dragons, there are exceptions among them who can stimulate their potential to the limit… With the blessing of legendary sacred weapons, they can even contend against foreign races much stronger than themselves. For example, the Holy Sword Gram is one such weapon. However, not everyone can use this Holy Sword. Only those who obtain the sword’s recognition are qualified.”
“Does that mean I’ve been recognized by the Holy Sword?”
“Yes, Xia Yi. You obtained the Holy Sword’s recognition right after you were born. You have the qualifications to wield the Holy Sword. Even I can’t use the Holy Sword Gram. I’m so envious of you in this regard… Therefore, I secretly gave the Holy Sword to you in the past.”
Xia Yi understood now. The Holy Sword she unconsciously summoned at a critical moment was due to this.
She raised her hand and tried to summon the Holy Sword again.
But after waiting for a while, nothing happened. She couldn’t recreate the situation from before.
Eh?
What’s the problem?
“Mother, why can’t I summon the Holy Sword now?” Xia Yi was very puzzled.
“The Holy Sword Gram still has many secrets. Xia Yi, you need to explore more on your own.”
“Why didn’t you tell me about this before, Mother!” Xia Yi puffed out her cheeks. “You scared me half to death today. I didn’t even know I had a Holy Sword!”
“That’s only natural. If you knew about this shortcut, you would definitely become overly reliant on the Holy Sword and grow lazy. That would be very detrimental to your future.”
“I-I wouldn’t…”
Xia Yi put her little hands behind her back, her gaze wandering. Even though she was clearly seen through, she just wouldn’t admit it.
“I’m going to become a powerful magician in the future, just like Mother. I have no interest in swordsmanship… I don’t care about the Holy Sword or whatever. Today was purely an accident!”
“A magician, huh?”
“That’s right. I want to defeat my enemies elegantly and stylishly. Magic is perfect for that. Today was an exception!”
“Even so, this exception is also part of your strength. Speaking of which, I haven’t congratulated you yet, my good daughter. You passed the Royal Trial and have already been recognized by the dragons as the Silver Dragon Princess.”
Xia Yi’s heart bloomed with joy.
What she wanted to hear the most was her mother’s recognition.
The little princess smiled sweetly, gazing at the Silver Dragon Queen with hopeful eyes.
“Mother, can you praise me more…” She requested in a soft voice.
Xia Lulu grabbed Xia Yi’s arm and pulled her into her embrace. She fondly stroked her silver hair. “Xia Yi, the strength you displayed today made me truly happy from the bottom of my heart. As expected, you are my powerful and outstanding daughter, living up to the name of the royal family. Keep up the good work in the future.”
Then, she left a light kiss on Xia Yi’s cheek.
Xia Yi was stunned for a moment. Then, her snow-white cheeks turned slightly red from shyness, and her big tail swayed rhythmically behind her, revealing the little princess’s innermost feelings.
I love Mother the most!
Like a spoiled child, Xia Yi snuggled into Xia Lulu’s embrace, tightly hugging the Silver Dragon Queen.
The loli-like silver dragons, who seemed like sisters, snuggled intimately in the garden where only the two of them were present.
…
It was already late, and the mother and daughter had been sticking together for a long time. Xia Yi was finally satisfied.
“Mother, it’s getting late. I won’t disturb you any longer. I’ll take my leave!”
“Mm, Xia Yi, you must be tired from fighting today. Go back and have a good rest.”
After performing the standard royal etiquette towards Xia Lulu, Xia Yi left, hopping and skipping while humming a tune.
“Xia Yi is becoming more and more adorable, almost to the point of being against the rules.”
Xia Lulu rested her arms on the table and lay down, watching her daughter’s departing figure with interest, narrowing her eyes. The smile on her face now seemed to hold a deeper meaning.
“I wonder when Xia Yi will enter her rebellious phase? I’m really looking forward to it, hehe.”
