Chapter 962: Invitation to the neighbours
[Eon's POV: ]
"And how is it that you know, oh no wait… how is it that these bees know you?"
Lady Vivian, Rein's energy beast research class' teacher, was going to meet the Cerulean apis colony and tell them about the festival that we are going to have in two weeks from now.
'Right… a week has passed away since we started with all the preparations and stuff.'
The academy was now starting to look a little different, ready for the festival that wasn't even going to last for more than a day.
-Buzzzzz…
"Hmmm?"
-Buzzzzzz!
"What?"
So… a good lot of things happened in the past few days.
'The headmaster wasn't back, we were done with the outline of our island, the other classes had decided what kind of model they were going to make for the competition and were working on it, and the student council had started taking care of unnecessary factors that might disturb the academy festival this time around.'
There's still two weeks left but, in the time we have, we have to do a lot of things starting from the preparations, decorations, sending out invitations, installing safety measures for the common people that will visit the academy on the festival day, and much more…
'One of the tasks that we had on had, which required attention from special specific people, was telling the direct neighbour of the academy, the blue bee colony, about the festival.'
It wasn't a simple task.
There were only a few people that could approach their nest and even fewer that had permission to meet with the Queen.
-Buzzzzzz!
"What the? Why are they being so protective?!"
Miss Viv wanted to know why the bees were not hostile towards us, and why she had received an order from the vice headmaster to take the two of us with her.
But, when she asked us that with a questioning gaze, the bees that were there to guide us to the nest did not like it.
The Kayris that were accompanied by the two dark blue soldiers started scolding the teacher who had been one of the few people beside the headmasters that had met the Queen until now.
And, for the teacher that did not know about our connection with the Queen, this was a strange thing. Discover hidden stories at empire
"Hehe, that's because the Queen has asked them to look after us~."
We've met the Queen. We've met her more than once and we have made many deals with her in this time as well.
There have been times when we received something in exchange for our gifts, and there have been times we didn't need anything special.
'The resources I had thanks to my Master, were something more useful to them than it would ever be to us humans.'
Forming a connection with a Queen was much more important. So, we used all we had to strengthen our relationship and to make it something more than a transaction based friendship.
"The Queen asked them to look after you? Why would she do that?"
As one of the best tamer and energy beast researchers of this world, Lady Viv had met many Queens and similar unique (Purple) ranked beings in her lifetime.
Everyone knew how she found the Queen of these special blue bees of the academy more special than most of the other creatures in this world.
"Well…"
There's not one reason we can say for why the Queen was looking after us.
The things that we gave her and the things that she received from us were not simple.
But those things alone weren't enough to earn the protection of the Queen.
'Perhaps Rein and the child that she would raise was one of the reasons behind this.'
Or perhaps it was something else. We cannot say…
"Because we are her friends perhaps?"
We were her friends… it wasn't false and it wasn't a complete truth either.
"Friends?"
We were walking through the path made of branches of Lord Quesnel, walking up high where the nest of these special bees was located.
"Yes, well, we can call her friend, right darling?"
"Hmm. Perhaps."
She was a good person and we have talked a few times just because we wanted to talk as well.
It's a fact that we aren't on the same level as her, and it is also true that she has helped us a lot with the cult members and things related to them.
'We can call each other more than just business partners at this point, but calling one another something like 'friends' might not be right from the general perspective of those who actually understand what kind of position She holds in this special ecosystem as well as in this academy garden.'
Well, it wasn't a simple thing, so just calling it a 'friendship' is much better than finding what kind of relationship we exactly have.
-Buzzzzz…
We had reached our destination not long after we started climbing up even though the distance that we actually covered was much more than a few miles.
And it was all thanks to the unique ecological features of this special place.
'Sir Quesnel is a unique entity on top of being an ancient being, so even though it cannot move or anything, the ecosystem that was created over the centuries on and inside of him was something very special.
The Queen that ruled over the special Blue bees of the academy garden was also in charge of the entire garden and the various creatures as well as Druids that live here.
'There were perhaps thousands of creatures that live in this garden and all of them, including the Queen, considered Sir Quesnel their great father.'
Even the headmaster wasn't anywhere near his authority. Even for the Queen that actually was a good friend of the headmaster's.
"This place feels amazing every time I'm here..."
"Right~?"
Lady Viv wasn't here for the first time, but I remember when we came here for the first time, we were just staring at this grand structure for five whole minutes.
'A castle that existed somewhere on top of an ancient oak. A castle so grand that even the great golden castle of the Roxanna seemed simple in front of it.'
With an entrance as enormous as the first floor of the academy castle, with a scale great enough to house a few hundred thousand of the bees that live here, and with various detached sections spread throughout this thick greenery, the castle of the bees, the golden nest of Cerulean apis was a colony so even the two of us couldn't help our surprise every time we are here.
[{ "It looks even more beautiful now." }]
And with Rein's improved truth seeing eyes, she can see even more details of this place that she wasn't able to in the past.
[{ "Show me later." }]
[{ "Alright~." }]
We were here for work for now, so we didn't have time to stop and admire the greatness of this natural structure created over centuries, perhaps Eons of hard work.
-Buzzzzzz…
"Ah, yes yes. We have no intention to stay here for long. Let's go ahead." Saying that, Lady Viv walked forward, however the two of us stayed behind for a moment.
[< "See you later." >]
-Buzzzzzz~.
The light blue little bee that had guided us here was a friend of ours, the same one that we met the first time we slept on the brand of Sir Quesnel.
{ "Tell the other little ones I said Hello aright?" }
-Buzzzzzzzzz~.
She had work to attend to now, so she would have to go as well.
But, before we parted ways, Rein hugged her little friend, and I gave her a little treat before saying goodbye and walking behind Miss Viv.
"I saw what you two just did, you know?"
The inside of the nest was just like any modern day factory that we can find in human societies, however, all of it resembled a honeybee nest.
"You didn't mention you can talk with them as well. In their language no less."
Everything present here, the worker bees, the guards, the other Kayris, the children and the eggs, even the places where they worked to extract the honey from the pollen… all of it seemed like a modern day factory.
However, they were bees, and everything they were using was a natural thing made from either Bee-wax or things that one could find around them.
"Talking with the other creatures isn't a new thing for us… and I just imitate their language with Mana, unlike him who actually understands it and can speak it."
"Languages are quite a peculiar thing, won't you agree, Miss Vivian?"
There were other creatures present here beside the bees, and most of them were helping the bees with various things that bees cannot do on their own.
They were codependent on one another, and it was pretty common in this special ecosystem.
'The bees were at the centre of the ecosystem, and the other creatures that live on and inside sir Quesnel were an important part of the population that couldn't survive without the other elements.'
The equilibrium that was established in this natural environment was so unique even a world famous researcher like Miss Viv had stars in her eyes as she looked around the place.
"Language… that's right. I did hear you were good with various languages. Seems like you're more than just a little good at this."
We were before the gates to the main chamber where the Queen stayed, a place not many have been to since the establishment of this academy.
"Well, I know a little bit of everything."
Language was also an art. But knowing the original runes made things quite easy.
"Anyway…"
Both of us can tell she had many questions right now, as a teacher, as well as an energy beast researcher.
"Let's be polite with this invitation."
The Queen very rarely leaves her nest, and that too for a very limited time.
The fact that we were here to invite her to a festival that could turn into something dangerous was not something I personally felt was appropriate.
But, this invitation request had directly come from the headmaster… who was still with the Masters.
So, there must be a reason he is asking her to risk her life, and attend this not-so-safe event.
