Chapter 249: Resonating Feelings
Gayle was staring into the list of possible adventurer's requests. She was currently alone, struck with boredom as Josh is currently asleep, and the rest of her friends are taking a break. She made the decision to go an adventure alone as she wants to clear her head on some things.
"Hmm... I don't think any of these would be good enough." Gayle let out her displeasure easily and simply left the adventurer's guild. She went around and took a look at somewhere instead. I could hunt an Arcane Dragon, but they're sentient so it's illegal... Fighting an Archon would be nothing but troublesome." Gayle shrugged off the temptation to fight against powerful dragons, as she didn't want to be dragged into a troublesome position. Before long, she looked over and noticed somebody who is walking towards the adventurer's guild. "That's... Jevil... If I remember correctly." Gayle and Jevil never really have interacted, and considering how much the Sentinels are quite reverent and respectful to Draxus, she doesn't want to risk dealing with him.
However, she made the decision to follow him for a bit, maintaining just enough distance to not be detected by Jevil. She had considered with how powerful Jevil is in melee combat, she knew that his perception is absolutely powerful. "It's a good thing that I learned so much about my tracking." Gayle was confident in her capabilities of tracking targets. Thus she was able to follow Jevil into what seems to be a panel behind the adventurer's guild. "Draxus is putting up some new bounties here." Jevil started talking to the hooded man. "So more of the [People of Earth] are on the move?" "Yes, though most of them operate discreetly, which makes it easier for a one versus one fight." "Considering that he's posting it here instead of handing it over to the Sentinels, you're going on a massive mission it seems?" Gayle continued eavesdropping and listened in to what the two conversed about. "Yeah, Draxus is fully dealing with Aquila, so it may be good if some other stragglers have been dealt with if they continue hiding in the [Tranquil Harmony]'s countries. But if none are taken, then fair enough." "I see, then I'll keep it posted here at the back. The requirements are the usual right?" "Yep, don't let anything weak try it. If they die, then that would be sad for their families." "Got it."
Jevil left after a while and Gayle waited for a bit before going there. She wanted to see what the bounties are, as it could hopefully be able to at least stave her from boredom.
After some more time, she finally felt that it wasn't suspicious to check around the bounties. She walked towards the back of the adventurer's guild and browsed through the bounties.
"Miss, are you here for a bounty? Do you perhaps have any certification to prove that you are capable enough?" Gayle blinked twice in surprise as she wasn't really expecting something. But when she head that it was only a certification to prove that she's not weak, she presented her guild card. "Platinum guild card I see... Then you may choose a bounty you so wish." Gayle started browsing through the bounties again, some of them having names of [People of Earth], some of which are cosplayers she knew directly. "For them to fall off and turn to this? Well I guess it can be expected for them who let their ego take over..." Gayle took one request that is has three stars in them. "A high difficulty opponent huh? Then if you would simply hand that over." Gayle handed the request to the hooded man, and she was given information on his whereabouts.
"Quisterion huh... Back on Mount Valtav? It's been a while since I stepped back there..." There were ways for Gayle to travel to Quisterion quickly, but the lowest amount of time she would take is one day and a half. "Oh well, better just a leave a note there."
After taking the request, she returned to the inn to prepare.
It was now midnight, she had moved to a different room than Josh due to his instability. Some thoughts crossed her mind as she remembered things from the incident where they fought with Aquila and Temockria's heroes.
The feeling of losing a battle, and nearly being humiliated. Only for them to be saved by Draxus who had given orders to Pauleen and Juniper. "What would I have done in that situation..." She pondered deeply, wanting to find a possible solution that would be able to fight against the heroes. "I know that day will come... The day where I finally make my turn against them, for the humiliation I received, I will make sure they suffer."
Her feelings of revenge burn bright, her hatred runs rampant, yet her actions are tranquil. She looked at the weapon she had on the wall. The scythe that she had found in a dungeon. A treasure that allows her to read the minds of others, and the ability of mysticism, wishes, anti-magic, and souls... "However... I won't be able to reach them all alone..." She felt slightly pessimistic as she knew that no matter how much she fights alone, she won't be able to reach them. "If it was him..." Draxus's image flashed on her mind, the pressure and aura that emanates from him, the glowing eyes and his powerful capabilities. "Was it perhaps a mistake to have left him...?" Gayle made a massive reconsideration, as she was once in a relationship with Draxus. Eventually, she shook her head, thinking that it may have led to worse things if she didn't leave Draxus. "If I didn't I would be mad with him getting a harem and leave him anyway... However..." Now that Draxus's harem is aware of her, they actually do not want her to be lingering around him. "If there's somebody who can help me get a chance for revenge... It's him..." Gayle theorized on what to do to reach Draxus without having to deal with his fiancés. She knew that she cannot attack them as it would result in brutal retaliation by him. "However, if I approach him... Josh becomes a problem... It's actually hard to approach the Sentinels because of him, if only I can find an opening away from his endless begging... He's slowly turning into the Draxus of that time..."
After some more time thinking, Gayle had written a note in her room, took some portions of food and clothes into the [Interdimensional Storage], and grabbed her giant scythe. "Let's go... [Mysteria]..."
The next day, Pauleen woke up from the screams of grief by Josh. As she left her room, she followed the place where Josh was crying, which seemed to be Gayle's room after the she had moved out from Josh's room. "W-What the hell happened?" Josh continued to grieve as Pauleen read the note. It was a simple note of her leaving for a bit and returning tomorrow. At the same time, the grieving Josh was slowly turning frustrated and eventually angered. Not knowing how his emotions worked, Pauleen simply left and room and went towards Juniper.
Juniper just woke up and immediately found Pauleen who was having a serious expression. "Juniper, let's head to the Sentinel Hall, we need to report to Keith immediately." Juniper was slightly confused, but after hearing Josh's screams mixed with grief, fear, and anger, she forcefully pushed away her drowsiness and prepared to go.
