Isekai: The Eight Soul Fragments

Chapter 251: The Hearty Abigail

"Mmm... It seems like everything is ready?" Abigail and Draxus were in the Dimensional Laboratory, where they were making final preparations before they travel around in Earth for the day. "Well for the time being, there are a lot of things that we need to keep an eye on." "Like my Other Eye?" "Yeah but that's the least of my worries. You know what, it'll be fine." The two then quickly entered the portal that connects back to Earth.

After entering through the portal, Abigail was immediately exposed to a beautiful garden. "Ooh~! This place already looks beautiful~!" Abigail was in awe, as it was the first time she had seen such a beautiful compound. She couldn't help but compare it immediately. Our mansion was a beautiful hidden star in the forest but this place looks much more, pristine as you thought." Her other eye was looking at Draxus, reading what was in his thoughts as her veins on her other eye relay it all back into her mind. "Perhaps it is, but when I saw this the first time I honestly felt quite terrified." "Because of the expenses huh?" "Yep, looking back at it, it was absolutely insane." Abigail smiled as her eye read Draxus's complaints against Serkyrio. His memories of what had happened that time was a shock to both him and her who had read his mind. "Anyways, we can't really dilly dally here." "You're right, is there any particular place you're interested in?" Abigail redirected her other eye somewhere else as she looked at him. Not wanting to read his mind and hear him answer for himself. "I guess, it would have to be... I guess I'm down for a nostalgia trip..." "A trip down memory lane? I'm definitely interested now. What kind of past did you have for your personality to be made so undecipherable." "So even you acknowledge that it's hard to understand my personality?" Abigail nodded as she remembered the day they first met. When she first saw him she was already reading his mind, but it instantly backfired as it was simply thoughts wherein he was complimenting her in any way. Needless to say that because Draxus was quite an attractive person, and for him to think of things that made her bashful, she was easily struck with the love at first sight.

The two left the portal area and didn't even bother heading towards Draxus's mansion, they immediately went straight to Draxus's hometown, which is also pretty much the hometown of all Preeliance higher ups members.

"The city feels the same as I remember huh...? It's honestly been ages since I've stayed here, but I guess it's because there's too many things that happened in the Otherworld even if only about a year and a quarter has passed." "To think that's it's only been around a year since you were summoned... But I guess when too many things happen we just grow so fast. Back then, in Helvetum, it was so boring since there's pretty much no incidents. Aside from the compulsory visitations to the four houses, there's nothing really going on." Draxus, remembering that Abigail's life had been too boring was reminded of something about her race.

The two of them were sitting down near the fountain of a plaza, Draxus wanted to fulfill his curiosity as he was sure that satoris were never really meant to look as close as Abigail. "Hey, how much did the satori race evolve throughout the generations?" "Hmm... That's a difficult question really... But I have heard from my mother that because Helvetum is a diverse country, we've had many marriages between the other races. I guess it was because of how the wars ended around a thousand years ago, there was a real lack of oni, tengu, kitsune, even other races like the kappa and other youkai and demons. It went to the point where they resorted to finding human consorts. Us satori used to look very different, but after going through many generations of mixed blood, I guess our appearances have completely changed. I don't have any evidence or records of what my race's original appearance may have been, but I could only guess something like evolution after seeing that book you had in the library." "So you read the theory of evolution huh...?" "It's actually very interesting you know? In fact, I've become very interested in things like science after I saw the books in the library. To think that there are many achievable things without the use of magic..." Abigail became a bit more excited as she started talking about science. "Yeah, seeing microorganisms, travelling outside of Earth on their own, and even the causes and effects of natural calamities." "Oh right! The one that had the knowledge of natural calamities is absolutely useful to a country. Something like disaster prevention could be implemented everywhere and potentially save more lives." Abigail continued on her rambling about science, but there were things that even she was unable to understand that well.

"You're truly curious about the unknown huh?" "Of course I am~! I w-" Abigail paused, as her other eye read what was on Draxus's mind, calling her curiosity a cute feature of her personality which caused her to be bashful. "Jeez..." She had both her hands hold her cheeks as she turned slightly redder. "You're always so cute when you're weak like that." Now that Draxus had clearly spoken how he felt, her bashfulness had reached its peak, she started hitting Draxus on his shoulders which didn't really amount to anything but both of then looking like a cute couple.

Although the two enjoyed their conversation in the plaza, it was also because of how much attention they garnered for standing out that they were approached by a group of men. Draxus glanced over to them and sighed in annoyance in an instant. Since he hasn't particularly had to deal with certain groups of people, it was the first time that he was approached under the likely pretense of reaching out on his lovers. Draxus immediately remembered some words coming from the Sentinel vice chiefs.

The group of young men were dressed very lightly, holding a certain aesthetic while having a mullet haircut for each one of them with different variety concepts of it. Draxus then remembered what the term for them was.

"Hey young girl, you with your brother today? You don't really need to be with your brother when you can have men like us as better company." The two were mistaken for siblings, as both of them had similar eye and hair color, with the only difference being Abigail having heterochromia, which makes her purple eye connect to her other eye which is simply looking at the group with exasperation from her chest. "Hmm... I remember what Wesley had said about children like these. I believe they're called something like [Mullet Revengers]. Practically the epitome of cringe-ass behavior." Draxus stood up while speaking what was in his mind, which somewhat triggered a few of the group. "The fuck? Does this man think he's some tough guy?" Draxus was about to cause something but Abigail smiled and simply spoke loudly.

"Are you all so pathetic that the only way you think you're going to win a fight is against someone who is alone? All of you play around looking for girls so desperately that it makes me greatly appalled the moment I laid my eyes on your group. Don't you all ever think about your appearance at the very least? Or even if you manage to land on a girl, you'd do everything to just try and control everything about their feelings. Don't you all considered that all of you look like nothing but desperate jerks who do nothing but run around all day as plebs trying to find easy targets with minimal work? Have some shame. And don't even think that I'm just some woman that you can prey on easily because my fiancé, is much stronger than all of you combined." Abigail spoke her piece, and before they could think of a retaliation, Draxus had already grabbed who seemed to be the leader and smashed his face down the asphalt. "By the way, it doesn't matter how many of you go after me, I'll beat you all up one by one just like this kid's head here on the asphalt. Scram." Draxus's aura was slightly leaking at his statement, which made Abigail tap Draxus before clinging to his left arm as the young men scattered in different directions, even the one who was smashed on the ground.

"As always, my fiancé is just much cooler than any other men~!" Abigail smiled as she tried to tease Draxus. "I'd rather say that my fiancé is much cooler for burying their souls with your astute words my lady~!" With a sudden comeback, Abigail turned red again, and this time buried her expression on Draxus's shoulder.

"Anyways, the day has only just begun, let's go around a bit more." Draxus started brushing Abigail's head with his free hand before reminding her that it's only the start. Abigail then realized that there's still a long day ahead of them and continued their date in Earth.
