Isekai: The Eight Soul Fragments

Gayle arrived at Quisterion and arrived quickly at the capital city. She had a small nostalgia trip before going for the hunt on her target bounty. For early on the day, she went through various stalls that she had remembered, eating some snacks.

But before she could waste any more time, she had went off towards Mt. Valtav.

She already had gained equipment which allowed her to travel quickly to wherever she pleases. And thus without wasting too much time, she arrived at Mt. Valtav.

When she reached the peak, she could see a fortress having been setup there, wondering if there is any way to enter, she tried to check for any spotters or cameras.

At that point, there was nothing that could seemingly spot her or her scythe.

When she reached the walls, she could sense that the wall is mostly made up of magic. Since her scythe was pretty much able to sap anything that is magic, she simply sliced through the wall and created an opening for herself. Before entering, she tried to listen for any alarms, since any sapped magic doesn't practically trigger the alarm as what she had done was simply replace the mana from the enemy to hers, allowing her to easily sneak in.

"Now... The target is... Francis..." Gayle opened her phone and checked the profile again. "Hypnotist, and mind control capabilities... Good enough for practice." Gayle nodded as she confirmed who her target is. She took him as a target on purpose as she wants to strengthen her resistance to any form of mind control or willpower related attacks. She then entered into the fortress as the first room she entered seems to be the fortress's living quarters. 

She looked around and noticed that the area looked quite nice, the place is furnished quite well, a counter with many drinks is in a corner, and and even a game room. However, considering what the bounty is, Gayle simply considered it was unfortunate to become enemies with them. That is proven as there was a group that entered the room and was shocked with Gayle's appearance.

Gayle instantly disappeared and had swung her scythe to slice the person in front in half. When the others started brandishing their swords, Gayle had already made her move and attacked, scattering blood around violently as she brutally murdered her targets. After eliminating her targets, she checked around outside if the alarm had been raised. Or if anybody had noticed the members being killed. Since she noticed a lack of movements, she decided to use her scythe to scan the room for cameras, which detected also nothing. "I guess they're pretty sloppy, or maybe just a knowledge difference between them and the Preeliance."

Gayle then started walking around the hallways while her scythe continued to drip blood. She didn't bother cleaning herself for the time being as she hasn't finished her mission.

She gets some encounters from time to time, and she wouldn't hesitate to kill the enemies. Even if they were fellow Earthlings, as long as they are an enemy, it would be a mistake to keep them alive.

"Finally, she arrived what seemed to be the main room, the alarms still have yet to be activated for some reason, which made Gayle start to hesitate on instinct on the door to what seems to be the main hall of the fortress. "I remember some tactics that Draxus knew here, if the enemy had decided to not ring the alarm on purpose, they could have already holed up in an area... Then in that case... [Mysteria]!" Gayle fully activated her weapon, which the blade part of the scythe started glowing. "[Open the past]!" In that moment, many shadows of humans which seemed to be wearing military uniform and weaponry were on the hallway seemingly rushing towards the door. "I see now, not a bad tactic." Gayle started slicing through the shadows as she was cutting on the target's past. She also noticed the target bounty's shadow being in the area, but decided to not slice him.

She started to hear screams of agony and confusion on the other side of the door, which meant that slicing the past would also hit the targets. Her weapon [Mysteria] allows her to manifest whatever concept magic that she could think of when fully activated. 

After letting them finish, she opened the door and saw only one man in the room. Francis was wearing a laboratory attire and was holding a purple sword. Seemingly unfazed from the military bodies between him and Gayle. "You did well to make it this far." Gayle didn't speak and simply rushed forward to try and eliminate her target before he could start his hypnosis. "Tch, not even a greeting? Is this how Preeliance operates now?" Francis blocked her Mysteria with his sword, which then started to emanate an ominous aura which tried to seep into Gayle. "H-Huh...?" Gayle began to space out but seemingly returned quickly and noticed that Francis was about to slice her arm.

She dodged backwards and barely avoided having her arm decapitated. "And that scythe seems to limit any magic used huh...?" Gayle immediately understood the concept of Francis's weapon. A weapon that can forcefully make their targets space out. Along with Francis' hypnosis and mind control, Gayle realized that it may result in more problems if the fight is prolonged. She tried moving in different directions, trying to make Francis lose track of her before attacking, but just as she swung her scythe, Francis' sword was already blocking her, and since she was blocked, the aura seeped into her one more time and just as she returned, her scythe was taken and thrown away. Because she tried to recover herself for a moment, she was kicked on the shin which forced her to kneel down. The sword was stabbed right in front of her which started to emanate more. "Mesmerizing right? For what you've done in this fortress, maybe I'll have you pay with your body." Gayle was starting to lose her mind as her consciousness was fading. But just before she fully lost her consciousness, she bit her tongue and forcefully woke herself up and kicked Francis in the chin.

Francis was stunned, and he tried looking for Gayle immediately, who left her position. He decided to grab his sword first and the last thing he saw was the walls around him go upside down as his head was sliced off.

Gayle finally completed her mission, but she didn't feel satisfied with the results. "I guess I need to keep Mysteria on my hands, it's the only way for me to prevent any kind of hypnosis or mind control... Or even enforced will... It may work against Draxus's Silent Command or Keith's Spirit Command to some extent... But when the emperor used his command... Just how much power does he hold that Draxus respects his existence...? Oh well, if it does decently fine against Draxus, then it should work well against those heroes."

Gayle took a picture of Francis' head severed from his body as proof of the end of the bounty. She then prepared to return all the way back to Preeliance.
