Isekai: The Eight Soul Fragments

Audrey continued watching Draxus and Gayle operate perfectly even without communicating. As if the two were telepathically able to guide each other. As a full squad of an army appeared with multiple shields and a solid formation. Since Gayle couldn't look for a breakthrough, she stood back and activated her scythe, which instantly drains the physical strength of the frontline shield bearers. 

Draxus then rushed in with two of his swords, he instantly dismantled the front lines as the magic attacks were blocked by a purple barrier. Looking at the two of them, Lilianna and Julianna felt both jealous and unnerved, while Audrey felt a little salty as she was his direct student, but considering Draxus' orders of having Audrey conserve her energy for later and for Lilianna and Julianna to not spend their time wasting their stamina, they couldn't really do anything and let Draxus and Gayle rampage.

Audrey was shocked by herself, as Draxus still has to provide commands for Audrey so she could properly handle some things. So Gayle's coordination with Draxus was perfect in one way that she felt slightly jealous about it as Draxus' student in tactics and theory magic. "They're fighting like it's only the two of them against the world..." Audrey made her comment audible to the other girls, which also made them comment on it. "It's like they're made for each other... But their relationship already ended right?" Pauleen thought about their relationship for a while, Juniper felt a bit tense as she sensed some things between Gayle and Draxus. The two fiancés of Draxus however were focused, they were a little jealous of Gayle operating perfectly under Draxus, but considering it's like that for them, they didn't pay it mind too much. Or rather, they were more focused on Draxus enjoying himself.

After the frontlines of the enemy crumbled down, Draxus returned to take the front guard of their group as he channeled magic. With the magicians now ensnared, Gayle rushed forward this time, erasing the rest while dodging their magic completely. Draxus sheathed both his swords and brought out a sniper rifle which was painted white for some reason. He fired shots towards magic to disperse them with magic-absorbing bullets and the shoulders of those who are close to firing magic to cover for Gayle's recklessness.

Gayle reaped the lives out of the magicians as her weapon becomes sharper and more durable the more times she killed her targets. After clearing off the rest of the magicians, she returned to Draxus' side as she raised her scythe to absorb the blood and the bodies of the dead to her own scythe, giving it more power. While she had her scythe absorb the dead, multiple members from the [People of Earth] appeared from the top of the buildings, ambushing them instantly with bullets. With such a wide area needing protection, Draxus simply opened a boundary to each one of his members as a bullet umbrella for them. Which surprised the enemy greatly. Some of them dropped down and prepared single-edged phase-blades as one of them seemed to be wearing a gauntlet with string coming out of it. "You're probably this squad's captain?" Draxus called out to the person with seemingly a special power on his hands. "Yes, and I will be stopping you here Draxus Heimdal. Your approach here is a mistake on your judgement and you will be paying greatly for it. Just forfeit your soul." The man seemed to refuse to introduce himself as he weaved his hands a bit.

The area around them is now covered with strings, all of them were able to see due to the level of their capabilities, but they knew that they can't move recklessly as string could be anywhere and can sever their heads easily. "How about giving up here? All the rest of the higher ups have more power than just this you know?" "Give up? Is that a joke? You know for a fact that I will not be stopped by something like this." A giant boundary opened up from the skies as bullets rained down from above. Half of the strings that were scattered were cut by the falling bullets. "Besides..." Half of the operatives on top of the buildings were also killed by the bullet rain that they themselves fired. "You sure you can really just stop us with string?" After Draxus laid that question for him, all of the string have been coated with a thick layer of ice, making it impossible to even pull or trigger anything. Gayle quickly navigated around the string and started slicing through the operatives with phase-blades. The rest tried to fire back, but with a lot of the frozen strings covering them, they were a bit difficult to pierce through as everyone scattered around dodging bullets. But after a while of dodging, more lightning strikes happened, this time hitting the rooftops where the operatives were taking over on.

With just the captain remaining, he tried to bring out new fine string to create a web of defense, but Gayle's weapon had been continuing to sharpen that it didn't even matter. The web of string the captain had built up was sliced through like it was nothing. Gayle then twirled and sliced him in half easily. As the captain fell down to the ground, he felt some regrets as he watched Gayle swing her scythe to get rid of the blood again.

Gayle returned towards Draxus' side as she looked up to him. "Clean me." With her pink eyes staring at him along with an expression that demanding from him is natural, she simply asked Draxus to clean her body and clothes from the bloodstains. Draxus simply sighed as he activated water and wind magic to cleanse both of them from the bloodshed they have done. Gayle's mouth turned from a pout into a smile as she returned to her position behind him as they returned to their formation going towards the castle of Aquila.

The closer the [Core] group to the castle, the stronger its defenders, but Draxus and Gayle were still the only ones who acted in attack. Audrey knew that Draxus plans to keep her an unknown factor to the enemy. Which is why she hasn't started attacking by herself. In terms of Pauleen and Juniper, they are going to fight against the hero, which made them nervous. Lilianna and Julianna are moving to extract the King and the Queen of the country out. Since their plan is to capture them and run, they have to prepare an escape route immediately.

They finally arrived to the drawbridge of the castle as another moat surrounds it. This time, Gayle covers for everyone while Draxus instantly freezes the moat completely and launched an ice boulder into the drawbridge, opening it immediately while bullets were being absorbed by a purple barrier which was made by Gayle. After stepping into the frozen moat, Draxus instinctively felt danger. He wasn't attacked, but he knew what was up. "Magic dismantling barrier... Alright everyone, prepare for a tough battle from here on out." Draxus smiled as he stepped back for a moment and had everyone bring out their weapons. He had two swords out and his gauntlet equipped in case of getting disarmed. Gayle already had her weapon out, Pauleen brought her synthetic bow from the [Interdimensional Storage] along with multiple arrows. Juniper prepared her rapier and dagger for close combat. Pauleen and Juniper had their swords out as well, and Audrey had an estoc and circular shield already hidden as Draxus had predicted the possibility of a magic dismantling barrier.

"Alright everyone... Ready up! The true operation begins!" Draxus shouted as he charged into the castle walls to break through the defenses.
