Chapter 26: He's so nice
I blinked twice and looked at Taiha like he had made a mistake.
"Is this... my office?" I asked him and he nodded.
"What do you think?" He finally took his arm off me and walked in. "It's a bit small but it's got a nice view and enough ventilation."
There was a lot of light because in this small space of an office, the wall was made of glass and I could see everything that was going on outside.
There was a couch in the corner, a table in the center, just in front of the couch, an empty big vase and there was of course a desk with a chair.
Well, this was far more than I expected. I never even expected to be given an office. A little corner in the set was already enough but what's this?
My own office?
"This view should be good for inspiration, right?" Taiha asked, standing next to the glass wall. There was a window located in one of the squares for reasons I didn't know.
"This... Thank you." I said and he turned to look at me.
"What are you thanking me for? This is only natural when you're an official employee of the company." He said with a cheeky smile.
Well, of course, he wouldn't understand the kind of gratitude I felt. He has been in this business for so long.
Suddenly, I felt his hand on my head and he said,
"I was once in your shoes." He said. "I'm in my late 30's now but when I started off, when I was given all this, I felt so happy that my insides would burst. So I understand how you feel." He said with a rather cheeky smile.
Wow, so this famous worldwide photographer was once a nobody like me, huh? Then, could I reach such a height too?
My name would be known by everyone and my works would be...
I felt giddy inside. It was too early to be having such high expectations but I wanted to work hard. I would work very hard and warm my spot in the Hall of Fame.
"Director, can you take a look at this?" Someone from the crew called so he had to leave.
"Alright, I'll leave you to it. You can set up your laptop and if you want to add anything, you can do that next week. It's going to be the weekend soon, you know." He quickly headed for the door but then paused and said, "Oh, least I forget. I sent the schedule to your email."
I found myself staring at the opened door with no one there for quite some time and then laughed.
"He's so nice." I muttered.
This office... It was the starting point of something great.
I turned around and faced the transparent wall.
"Yes! Let's work hard and earn our place in the hall of fame."
Suddenly, I heard someone walk into my office.
With glee, I turned to see if it was Taiha who came back to give me a little bit more information but it wasn't him.
The smile on my face fell into that of confusion. Who was this?
Standing in front of me was a tall and handsome pink-haired guy. He had one hand in his pocket and the other rubbing against his neck like he was nervous.
He closed the door behind him and it made me feel a bit uneasy.
'Who is this? I feel like I've seen him before.' I thought but then remembered. 'Ah, he's the guy I bumped into when I first got here. He looked so meanly handsome back then but now he looks nervous.'
I polished my tongue and asked,
"Um, can I help you?"
He opened his mouth without making eye contact and asked,
"It's you, right?"
Wait, that voice.
"You're the one who pulled me back on the rooftop."
"Ah, you're Sungho?" I asked and immediately covered my mouth.
Shit, I just let out the fact that I knew what he was talking about.
"So, it is you." He said, moving closer.
"Well, you're... You're welcome." I said, feeling anxious. What was he going to do now?
How did he even know I was here? How did he even recognize me? It was so dark. I never would've recognized him if I had seen him walking by on a regular day.
So, does this mean I was the only one who had a problem recognizing people in the dark?
I didn't have a problem recognizing the twins though. I mean, how would I, when they were always so radiant?
"Why did you do it?" He suddenly asked, breaking me out of my thoughts. "Why did you meddle in what didn't concern you?"
"I honestly shouldn't have." I said. "But someone was about to commit suicide in my presence. I couldn't just watch. It would haunt me for life." I explained, backing up slowly till I got to my desk.
"But you didn't even know me."
"Do you have to know someone to save a life?" The words slipped out of my mouth before I could even think it.
The truth is, I didn't want to meddle. I didn't care if he died or lived but my heart wouldn't settle if he did die. It was horrifying to even think about it.
"I don't know if that breakup was enough to throw your life away but it shouldn't. Keep living, Mr Sungho. If not for anything, do it for the sake of being born." As soon as he said that, he gave out a scoff.
"For the sake of being born." He muttered and I could tell he wasn't too pleased with that statement but what could I do?
I looked past him towards the door.
"You can't tell anyone what you saw." He said, and I returned my gaze to him.
"Of course. I don't even know what I saw. I didn't see anything either." I said but tilted my head and asked the most stupid question, "Wait, which one? Are you talking about the breakup or the suicide attempt?"
His eyes widened and he grabbed me by the collar.
"You saw that too?"
Oops, why did I let that slip?
