Chapter 46 - I
Jing Xingzhi said the first sentence, but Liu Fang didn’t respond, so Jing Xingzhi continued with his lie.
He sighed, “Oh, I didn’t catch a ride back. I’m so tired!”
Liu Fang paused, glanced across his forehead, and exposed him, “Walking all the way back, not a drop of sweat on your forehead. None?”
Jing Xingzhi thought that as long as he was ignored, details like sweating were not important. After this arrangement, things would take their course naturally.
So, he immediately changed his tone, “But the thing is so heavy, I need Fang-ge’s help to carry it!”
Liu Fang glared at him angrily, then stretched out his hand to take the things.
When the things were in his hands, Liu Fang looked forward, then turned his head and looked back in disbelief.
It was only six steps away from the main door of the house, and no more than seven steps from the courtyard door.
? ? ?
‘Am I… too easy to deceive?’
On one hand, Liu Fang felt dissatisfied with himself, and on the other hand, he thought he was being pretentious and meddling, appearing as if he was sulking.
Jing Xingzhi also looked back, but he didn’t see any clues. He said with a confused look on his face, “Did you lost something?”
Liu Fang replied with an affectionate tone, “I’ve lost my heart.”
After saying this quickly, Liu Fang immediately added, “I went out specially this morning to buy chicken wings, and I cooked them for you myself. But I ran to the back mountain without even seeing a soul.”
A chicken had two wings. In ancient times, you ate chickens one by one. It wasn’t like modern supermarkets where you could buy a whole chicken.
Liu Fang was able to buy half a pound of chicken wings because he knew the owner of the restaurant.
In order to make the ingredients more convenient, Liu Fang gave the shopkeeper some money. This was probably the first time he had become friends with a restaurant shopkeeper in ancient times for this reason.
Liu Fang felt particularly disappointed because he had gone through so much trouble but the food wasn’t eaten by this man.
Jing Xingzhi’s heart pounded, thinking that if he had known earlier, he would definitely have come back.
But thinking about it, Liu Fang must have wanted to surprise him, so he didn’t tell him in advance.
As a result, because he ‘left without saying goodbye’ the surprise turned into a waste. Who could endure this!
Jing Xingzhi felt extremely guilty, but he really didn’t know what to say. He could only look at Liu Fang’s face and asked lamely, “Hey, have you left the chicken wings for me?”
Liu Fang, both angry and amused, stretched out his arm and gave Jing Xingzhi a playful slap, saying, “Don’t mess around, or I’ll make you regret it with one punch!”
“As for the chicken wings…” Liu Fang continued, “I’ve eaten all the ones I made for lunch.”
“Then let’s eat this tonight. Let’s have roast duck and ask the shopkeeper to save some duck heart for me tomorrow to replenish my Fang-ge’s heart,” Jing Xingzhi suggested, thinking that Liu Fang must have already vented his anger after eating the chicken wings.
Once you had vented, you wouldn’t be angry.
The two of them entered the house, and Jing Xingzhi took out the food, drinks, and toys he had brought.
Jing Xingzhi was particularly satisfied with the scented tea bag he got from Dr. Wang. It contained various flowers and plants and was said to smells excellent. Another item was the material for making kites. Spring was the best time for flying kites, and making a kite was undoubtedly more fun than buying one. The materials for making the kite were also substantial.
Liu Fang looked at the kite materials with great interest. Although still a bit angry, Liu Fang reluctantly put down the items and placed the ingredients Jing Xingzhi bought into the kitchen.
While Liu Fang was in the kitchen, Jing Xingzhi opened the food box and looked inside.
There should be vegetables on the first layer, but the plates were empty.
Jing Xingzhi opened the second layer again, and the food bowls on the second layer were also empty!
“Eating so much?” Jing Xingzhi couldn’t help but worry about Liu Fang’s stomach, considering the lack of stomach and digestion medicines in ancient times.
Half of the third layer was for soup. Jing Xingzhi opened it and found that the soup was still there.
On the fourth layer, Jing Xingzhi looked at the full meal and laughed. He found it cute how Liu Fang only ate vegetables when angry and stopped eating to finish the food.
After looking at the food box, Jing Xingzhi restored everything to its original state, pretending that nothing happened, and strolled to the kitchen to join Liu Fang.
When Jing Xingzhi dropped two plates, Liu Fang teased him.
The ‘Kitchen Killer’ Jing Xingzhi read a book for an hour in an aggrieved manner.
.
For dinner, Liu Fang and he had roast duck slices and dipping sauces, each eating two large bowls of white rice.
Jing Xingzhi put down his bowl, looked at Liu Fang, who usually only ate one bowl of rice, and said, “The roast duck here is so delicious. You ate so much for lunch, and you can still eat two bowls of rice!”
There weren’t many chicken wings on the plate, but the big bowl on the second layer could hold two dishes, and Liu Fang always had a cat’s stomach. Eating small portion of foods.
Liu Fang was momentarily confused, then seemed to come to his senses and said, “It’s quite delicious. There must be some secret recipe that hasn’t been passed down to the future.”
“We’ve all finished eating. I’ll collect the bowls.” Jing Xingzhi stood up on his own initiative, put away all the dishes and chopsticks.
After Chef Li, whom they invited to cook their meals, finished his work, he had to return and prepare his own meals. They saved the dishes and chopsticks for washing the next day. Sometimes, Liu Fang and Jing Xingzhi would wash them themselves.
Jing Xingzhi had a full meal at night, so he just wanted to wash the dishes and relax.
Just after washing two bowls, Jing Xingzhi heard a knock on the door and got up to leave the kitchen.
